The young Lioness stands quietly in the background, waiting to see who openly declares their loyalty for them and their clan.
She is of course far too young and inexperienced to declare any such thing herself. Indeed, a declaration by her would be most likely laughed at.
Still, being in Toshi Ranbo and the court, she does cut a striking figure, having volunteered to assist the Crane/Lion guardsmen so she may keep her ancient armor on in court honorably. ((Assuming that the Lion/Crane still provide a combo guard here))

The Tamori daimyo marches straight forward to the dais of the Emperor and bows very low, his forehead touching the floor.
"I, Tamori Koichi, daimyo of the Tamori family and Yamabushi, swears my never wavering loyalty and service to the Righteous Emperor, Hantei the 40th. Let me be the fire that purges the treacherous vermin who dare plot against you."

The Lioness nods her head. This is not unexpected. However this fight turns out, it will be glorious battle indeed. Her training prevents her from smiling, but her eyes glint with anticipation of proving her worth to her clan.

The new daimyo of the Yasuki steps forward and drops to his knees before the Emperor.
"I am Yasuki Chad", he winces slightly upon pronouncing the Gaijin name he only recently took, "Daimyo of the Yasuki. I swear to serve the son of Heaven to my dying breath, and will protect his Empire from those who would throw it into chaos."

The Void Master of the Phoenix enters with the smooth grace of one confident in is ablities, be they physical, mental, magical or social strides to the foot of the dias of the iron throne and bows to Emperor Hantei XL, holding it through his entire introduction, using a simple Air spell to allow all to hear him without difficulty.
"I, Agasha Shodai - Void Master of the Phoenix Clan, student of Shinsei's Tao, Taisa in the Elemental Guard of Fire, and Voice of the Elemental Council - swear my personal alleigance to Emperor Hantei the 40th, the true Son of Heaven, and offer my services to your banner."[/b]

The Bat Clan Champion enters in the fine black, sleeveless robes bearing the marks of his station that he reserved for only the most important of occasions, the polished black Bat mempo on his right hip, the wakizashi on his left as was his habit. He bowed fluidly to before the throne, seeming to melt to the floor within the flowing robes. Your humble servant, Komori Warai, Champion of the Bat Clan which you yourself created, Daimyo of the Komori family which was granted name by your word, student and heir of Komori-dono who served you faithfully and well, and Head Priest of the Minor Clan Alliance, wish to reaffirm the support and loyalty of both my own poor self and the clan which I have the honor of leading to the true Emperor, Hantei the 40th.The Bat Champion pauses for a moment. It is not my place, but with my unquestioned loyalty and fidelity in mind, if I might beg your indulgence for one moment, and offer a word of advice. I do not believe that the true hand behind your brother's betrayal has been revealed. The spirits whisper to me of hidden secrets that I cannot divine, and I am troubled. Therefore, I would council caution and a gathering of strength, even parley if it can be managed, so that time may be bought for your loyal servants to investigate that matter and reveal the truth before the Empire can truly turn against itself and be left vulnerable to the enemies outside its borders. This is my advice, but as ever I bow to your wise command. With that Komori Warai seemed to flow away from the throne, still bowed, until he had reached the others assembled there. A chamber in Toshi Ranbo
A middle-aged Samurai-ko watched as her son prepared himself for an appearance at court. As usual, she thought, his Kimono was immaculately attired and his hair shone like his father's. No doubt, behind the impeccable courtier facade, he was nursing the results of last night's revelry. But it never showed. Not once since his Gempukku had Hiruma Shagi disgraced himself unless it were deliberate.
She paused, knowing he would expect the question in her mind. Nevertheless it must be framed. "Son, do you have to do this?"
He turned to her. "Duty, mother, is never easy. But I am needed by my Emperor more than I am needed by my Daimyo; more than I am needed on the Wall. Certainly more than I am needed beyond the wall. The Lost are here. How can I spy on them in the Shadowlands?" He paused. "To me, my duty is clear."
"And if you have to face your Daimyo in battle? What then?"
"Battle can still be avoided. It must be avoided, if possible. If diplomacy and common sense fails... I will deal with that then, as everyone else will have to."
"And you will fight by the side of the so-called Spider?"
He turned back to the mirror to finish his preparations. "It should not surprise you that I have fought alongside some of them before. Just as I have journeyed into the Shadowlands, some of them journey into Rokugan. When you have to deal with Bandits or Yobanjin, you have little time to question the identity of the 'Ronin' beside you. Time enough to investigate his motives later. And deal with him, if necessary, and if possible."
He rose and faced his mother. She smiled. "Let us talk about happier things," she said. "Have you thought of marriage? A woman needs grandchildren to spoil when her son has grown."
"You already have grandchildren, mother. I'll be acknowledging the eldest this winter. You'll like him. He has your eyes." Shagi paused as he considered how to frame his next words without criticising the woman to whom he owed his life, his name and his honour. "As for marriage, when you inform me of my father's family, I will consider marrying into them."
"Because I didn't?"
"I didn't mean that, mother. It's just so hard for me not to fish for clues.
"There. I'm ready. Promise me you won't get into any duels over my honour, will you?"
"Shagi. Someone has to defend your honour. You never do it yourself..."
The Imperial Courtroom
Hiruma Shagi bowed low. "At my Gempukku I swore unswerving loyalty to the Emperor. That oath still stands, and should not need repeating. Yet repeat it I will, for sometimes some things need to be seen to be done. I, Hiruma Shagi, swear that I will obey and serve the Son of Heaven, Hantei the 40th, in whatever capacity he desires until death."
At the back of the room, an impassive mother's face never flinched.
