It was almost sunset time when they arrived to the borders of Permission City, and they would need to cross it in order to reach Toshi Ranbo. Yukihime's long hair was still smelling fine floral incenses from the peaceful Pale Oak Castle that had been long left behind them. A playful air kami was dancing through her hair like a cold breeze. A huge storm was a little behind them, to northeast, pushing them even faster towards their destination, but also towards their enemies. Yukihime's horse, Sasayaku, sniffed the air, the animal was also not willing to wait for the rain to catch them, but it could have no idea of the dangers that were hiding ahead. The signs of conflict were everywhere, and the standarts of the Emerald Champion within Permission City could be seen from faar away. It was a good thing, hopefully they could get some reinforcements in order to reach Toshi Ranbo safely. They took a look around and could not find Lion scouts. But that doesn't mean that there aren't any. They could easily see Permission City's gate were down and a dark smoke was climbing from some roofs. Yukihime addressed to the Phoenix that bravely offered to travel with her. -Shiba-sama, what should we do?

-Heh. She is here.
Yuuka was not hidden, but strategically positioned behind some bushes by the road. The unit she belongs to is usually a fragile one, she took the leadership after a few "natural deaths" caused by war, and she had managed to keep four of her folks alive. May be five, if they could have the shugenja to go out of the route and help.
Protecting a not so cautious Shugenja wasn't the most desirable task for her, but right now it was needed.
-Let's go talk to her.
-Hold on, let me hear what those Phoenix are up to.

The first sign of the Lions's presence outside of the city is a hail of arrows. The arrows are aimed precisely, attempting to drop both warriors and steeds. In total, every steed has about 3 arrows coming at it, each warrior (OOC: NPCs) have 2, and 1 is aimed at the Shugenja and the Shiba.
As the wind shield drops from the attack, a tired looking Kitsu is quickly protected by a hulking Hida. The archers, Tsuruchi-trained to a man, drop back as Matsu Yoshino and her Elite guard charge from behind the shield, yelling the Soul's Roar! Each have Air kami that have been directed to their ears, allowing them to only hear Yoshino, and Yoshino's air kami filters all harmful sounds out.
In total, 10 Samurai, including Yoshino, are attacking. The archers are withdrawing back towards Permission, which, despite having a cracked gate and some enemy incursions, still flies the brown and gold of the Lion proudly from most of the city, pushing back the Imperial intruders. The Hida and the Kitsu are moving back to rejoin the forces at Toshi Ranbo.
The Samurai, half bearing Naginata and half bearing katana, charge on foot, attempting to surround the band that has ridden unannounced into Lion lands.
Yoshino herself has ridden in, matched on either side by two Unicorn with horsebows. She is wearing heavy armor, a Mane, and a mempo depicting a snarling Lion. Her daisho is at her side, and both her katana and her mempo seem ancient, though in perfect condition.
She growls, from behind her mask, Turn back now, and I need not make an example of you. Riding into Lion lands unannounced in time of war, you truly are either the bravest or the most foolish Samurai I have ever encountered. If you turn back, I will not stop you, but if you take one step closer without laying down your arms and scrollbooks, I will end the lot of you.
Her eyes are hard behind the mask, revealing the warrior within, the friendly and approachable demeanor she has shown with others gone.

OOC: Errr... I'm not complying but, don't you think killing all NPCs in one round/turn/paragraph/ whatever it is called here is a little bit too over power? Anyway, you don't need to change it (well, Yuuka will be sad )
Could you please let us know exactly how many samurais just showed up? There is a Kitsu, Hida, some archers, Unicorns, and what else? How many?
And, please, consider there is a Shiba player on the scene too, I hope he is still alive.
I'll wait a little longer before replaying. But thanks for joing us ^_^ , we were expecting some challenge (in another way, but we were)

OOC: In times like this protocol would have it that if you wish to join a thread you should contact its authors, find out what direction they want the thread to go in, and see if you can assist in the telling of the story.
By that same extension however, if you have a specific direction for the story crane-sans, perhaps you should make it a closed rp with pms asking permission to join?
Really, I do view the action of popping up and wiping out the entire unit to be WAY too over the top. And I would advise an edit to your post after you contact the threads authors.

OOC: We don't have a direction, we were hoping for a surprise and looking forward to meet new players. We don't mind being captured, dead, or whatever as long as the fight is at least fair Ow, and of course, none of us (Yuuka, Kenzan, or myself) have previously met any Lion player, so we could not make invitations... sooo... an invite only thread would be senseless in this case >.o

I will be editing my original post, and then hopefully this will be resolved. I was under the impression that open threads were not permission needed. If so, I will do so in the future. Many thanks, Bayushi Senshi-sama.
As to the massive killings, yes, that was over the top, I will freely admit. It was in response to the perception that the first posts had described Permission City under the domination of others.
Editing complete. I hope this is more what you were envisioning Yukihime-san?

OOC: No need, I just talked to the other players and by now we will just step back with our losses and take another route, as proposed by Yoshino-san. I'm looking forward for a better opportunity to play with the Lion in the future. I'll be sure to start it within the proper protocol. Thanks for everyone's attention ^_^ *bows* And for those who PMed me thanks for the interest. ^^

Yukihime politely bow to the incoming members of the Lion clan, and responds after a brief glance at their leader's mon. -We are leaving, as wisely suggested by Matsu-san.Yukihime bows once more stepping back then (hum... let's say... full defense? ) Yukihime had no reasons to take her chances in a situation like this. She had some documents herself, but could not know about everyone else. And, as the animosity was high, how could they tell the difference between a letter scroll or a spell scroll? Better not draw anything and just leave. Actually she was suprised by the emerging Daidoji group she had not spoted before. And kinda worried about their reaction.

Ikoma Toshi
Aim at the new arrivals. The whisper was hardly heard. They prepared their bows and arrows. Wait for them to come closer. We don’t know what they want. Don’t shot without my command. Tsuki, Ryuji keep your eyes on those two shugenja. Nagatsu, Kibuna you take the commander. Try to wound not kill.
About 5-6 people were coming. Toshi had 8 hidden with her in the nearby grove. Daidoji won’t be a treat. Matsu should manage on her own. But if they decide to attack forfeiting their lifes Lions may lose a few people. Unless there will be more Cranes to come. Kibuna, Nagatsu check the surrounding, there may be more of them. Enemies camp wasn’t near but they dispatched quite many patrols in the area. And those patrols grew bigger after many of them didn’t come back or came back lacking a few people. Mostly because of Toshi men. She didn’t fell secure here with only 8 people, now 6 ready to fight. If she had more people that would not be a problem. But she didn’t have. As soon as she received a report that small group of Cranes was seen near the Urei Nushi Stream she gathered her people to follow. Not many, but rest was assigned different tasks. They were hiding near the Crane camp for days, patrolling the surrounding area. They dispersed moving in pairs and groups of three, looking for any lone or incautious enemy and taking them down. It was pure luck that there were so many people in their hideout. They moved as quickly as they could. But were late.
Concentrate, they’re coming

Out of Character mode on:
Hi all guys and gals
I have being thinking about this thread since yesterday. I would like to just roll some dices to get this all solved as soon as possible. Which means I'm not ready to play in a ruleless mode. This was my 1st RP thread and right now I don't feel like I can handle it.
I was expecting a bunch of Lions (its their territory), and even willing to confirm Hiromitsu's theory on how they would fight 5 to 1 and not even be ashamed of it. Even a glorious death scene would please me. But it all got moved way beyond it.
I had a lot of thoughts and considerations in mind but extending myself would be tiresome and likely useless. I took my time to read around and the complications on "how to solve conflicts" were clear. Considering that here we had IC and OC conflict already, I prefer not to be envolved anymore.
Yukihime, I know well you hate "half-done" (unfinished) scenes and stories, but I´m withdrawing my character for now (think of it like a MMO log off).
This post is more so you all know you must not wait for me anymore.

(OOC: well, I don't know what to suggest. I don't mind to keep the thread going with the interested ones, but my char would never had made this travel alone.
Well... I'm open to suggestions if anyone is interested in carrying this on. Otherwise, don't know, we can just finish the story with some more dead NPC bodies biting the dust and my char moving back to Phoenix lands for a loooong journey around. This would at least make sense (yap, I value sense a lot >.< )
I'm sorry about the messy thread, and thanks for joining us Homura-san, really appreciate the interest ^^ too bad I don't have something as cool to offer as I would like to o.o)

OOC: Come on people, don’t get offended just because somebody killed a few npcs. Yoshino-san didn’t intend to harm your characters, she modified her post as soon as she understood that Shiba-san was PC and ‘revived’ him. These weren’t first npcs to die in the game. Dear Cranes, you came with about 8 or 10 people to a battlefield and you thought nothing will happen? Ok, maybe the action was a bit too much, but you could react, revived the npcs, cast a spell, bring some allies and so on. The situation became difficult, but sooner or later it would come to this. Unless you wanted just cross the battlefield and go ahead. Than you should just let us know. There must have been a confrontation. And between Cranes and Lions who hates each other from the beginning of the Empire, during a war where they are on opposite sides somebody must die. What you don’t like in this thread? As soon as Yoshino-san heard your complains she modified her post to suit better your expectations. For all of us to have fun. It happens that not everything goes as we would like to, but that’s what good in PRG. I can understand that the whole situation wasn’t pleasant and you don’t feel too good in it Daidoji-san. That wasn’t the best way to start playing. But we all have the same problem and Yoshino-san and Yukihime-san tried to worked out the situation. If we don’t put some effort in this, we will never have fun together again. Pity, I wanted to get to know your characters better. And about logging off. I too like mmo but disappearing and leaving your team just because something didn’t go right is just… bad. I prefer realistic playing and now it’s like “what the hell?” But of course it’s your right to play as you like.
About continuing: I enjoyed the thread in the beginning. I can think of some continuation most likely finished near Toshi Ranbo or maybe even in it. But now I won’t push it over. We can continue, we can finish, we can agree that this just never happened.
And to the other players: many of you write about Lions as hot-headed, dazzled with their own self-magnificence poor-fighting dumb berserkers. We are killed in mass amounts, especially by Cranes (yeah, I remember the heads of out commanders, 5 on 1 situation mention here (it’s not about Hiromitsu-san comic but again Crane opinion how lame we are) and so on). Well, Yoshino-san gave you a little sample. Hope you enjoyed it. Sorry it stroke random people but life’s a … isn’t fair.
sorry to spoilt your topic Yukihime-san
