Junko overheard Yamuso speak and stifled a short smile. "Relax, friend... the Crane may be dishonorable fops. But they are not that kind of dishonorable. Or rather, their cowardice rules their dishonor... they will not attack"

Yamuso grinned behind his mempo at the woman who spoke. "You must be pleased then that I turned myself in to be close to the Yasuki. Free from the trappings of honor, I would have attacked at this very moment, silently inflicting a few, strategic casualties..." Yamuso looked towards the floor and let out a chuckle. "I guess its a good thing indeed".

Toku Hirotomo walked to the Lion Champion as he was praising the others. How best to deliver the sword? He chewed his lip as he thought about it. He did not want to be presumptuous, but he did not want to hold onto the sword until the Emperor came. Too many things could happen. Perhaps the Champion would call on him. Or perhaps it was best to wait until they could speak alone. Too many options. He would wait to be spoken too first.

(before/during the procession)
Mai took the time to brush Ren herself until the steed's silver-gray coat shined. Then came the Utaku barding, carefully polished by the heimin at the inn, the armor pieces and horn gleaming in the sunlight. Purple silk tassles dripped from the halters and belts, and Ren's head shook with the new sensation of them. Mai did not typically go out of her way to put on such a display, but things were shaping up to be quite ostentatious, and she would represent her clan poorly if she did not follow suit. She put on her own shining armor, pristine new silk cord and leather joining the ancient plates together. Armor that had protected her mother to the last before being recovered and made anew.
She stood out among the cavalry honor guard, a purple spot in a sea of mostly gold. Much like the Unicorn clan in Rokugan: Beautiful, rich, but also different. She saw the Unicorn banners and swelled with pride at the courage of her forces, diminished to a third of its original size but still proud and strong. The facade of her proud demeanor broke slightly at the thought of those who paid the ultimate price, but she stood tall in her saddle. This festival honors you, she acknowledged silently, you will not be forgotten, not today, and never while I live.
With that, she lifted her heart in the shared joy of the occasion.

((OOC: Junko is actually a lady, not a man - hence the 'ko' :- ) ))
Junko nodded to the strange man. "Yes, I can see that of all the things I have to be thankful for, not having you an enemy is one of them" She gave him a private, knowing smile before turning her attention back to Tomatsu and his supplicants.

"Ronin, you will not speak of the crane such in my presence! The Crane are many things, but cowardly? After this battle you accuse them?!" Chad Bristles at the slight to his allies, clearly enraged.

The presentations seemed to be going delightfully well, but naturally some churning hidden hostilities arose in the crowd. When the raised voices passed her ear, she turned slightly to regard the ones speaking out of tone. A stiff emotionless stare falling on them as she maintained her place at Tomatsu's side. Unless violence ensued she would merely regard them for now with eyes alone.

Yamuso sighed and placed a hand on the shoulder of the Yasuki Daimyo. "Yasuki-sama, while on many occasions, this ronin would be on bended knee begging for her life and forgiveness at insulting your allies, now is no the time to push the issue. At least, not for you to push the issue."
Yamuso tried to look into the eyes of the Daimyo. "If you wish for me to push the issue, my death, well... it has been forseen, and it will not be at the hands of this woman."

"Yamuso, I have given you leave to accompany me, but do not think I will ask you to do anything I cannot do myself. I have killed enough by proxy." He spoke in a more controlled tone now, though still clearly angry. "I have not pushed any issue, I have merely reminded someone that sometimes you should not voice your opinion or be revealed a fool. Were the Crane dishonorable Cowards, the battle would have been much shorter and far more decisive."
He ignores Haruka's gaze. Keeping his glare firmly on the Ronin Woman.

Taiyo's stance visibly relaxed in response to Tomatsu's gesture, humbling the proud samurai as he faced his champion.
Sama, I am certain that the Lion and our allies would have been triumphant had I not been present. It is the way of the Lion that when one of our samurai falls, another steps in to share the burden of duty. However, I have seen the face of our enemy, and feel shame that I was willing to cast my life aside so easily when there was still so much to accomplish. It will not happen again.

Junko sighed. "Chad-sama, as you can see, I wear no Clan's mon. I have already suffered the greatest dishonor a Samurai can face. Your disapproval, well, it is like sprinklings of rain to somebody who is already soaked. I'm sorry you don't like my opinion of the Crane, but I cannot in any sincerity revoke it. If you or your yojimbo wish to take recourse to blades, well then, the Kami will do with us as they wish"

"It is not my disapproval you should fear, or even care about. But you demean the Lion's victory here by dismissing those who fought against them. Do you think the Shining Lion would have arranged this pagentry if the battle was Easy? The Victor never in doubt?"
"You disguest me! You wear your dishonor like a badge but if you keep ignoring basic tentents of Protocal you will be put down."

Junko looked to Haruka, taking the meaning in her eyes, then back to Chad. "Perhaps we should discuss this when we can do so without interrupting Tomatsu-sama's ceremony"

Kibo watched the argument and glared. This "merchant" would have to be spoken to later on. Indeed the Crane fought well, but there was more to it, and it seemed this salesman didn't really realize the implications of what was happening and why if he sided with the Crane in this circumstance.
There were too many questions that people like him had no real answers for. Questions that not even her most trusted and knowedgeable Scorpion contacts had answers for, yet he blindly wandered on and trusted these individuals.
His temper lead her to wonder other things about him. Tempremental merchants never sell a thing. Again, watch, observe, deal with this later, and deal with it she would.
