In the hall of contests,
A young samurai-ko breathes deeply. She wasn't envited or allowed by her sensei to enter this chambers, yet, she takes another step within it. She was so certain of her destiny, and of what she could do... for her family, or even for her clan. It was time to show it, to make everyone understand...
Once into the room she was given a parchment, some brushes and a vial of nakin. And it was all she needed for that night. For at least once...
Have her hands to fly like guided by the ancestors, carring the brush, leaving behind a neat line of ink. Each line conecting to each other precisely in order to present Shiro no Shosuro, her beautiful homelands.
The judges were silenty, speachless, watching while her vivacious work gets completed. And for that night at least, she was sure her school had the spot it was meant to be.
But of course there is much more that the Scorpion could offer but... no need to show off that much.
(OOC: I had to celebrate my luck roll and 1st place on art contest. Not sure if it will last as long as I would like but I had to share.)

Only two days after the Kakita daimyo's arrival, a small cortege accompanying her palanquin left Kyuden Otomo heading to Kakita provinces. This wasn't the usual favorite travelling method of Lady Kakita, of course, but it was only one more little scandal to add at the rumors list currently running about Kakita Mitsouko.

Naetaru graciously accepted the gift, motioning for his aide to receive it in reverence.
"I truly thank you and your family Kitsune-san. Regarding the aforementioned Kitsune stories I remember that your family has a talent for choosing fitting gifts pertaining a mystery as well as elegance. The Crane Clan expresses its gratitude." he kept his questions as of the gifts nature to himself, dismissing the notion of it being a simple "warming stone"
Moments later came the messenger from the Tamori daimyo. With a courteous nod he expressed his apologies to the courtier and received the letter. His eyes skimmed the message absorbing its fruitful information. It seemed to him that nurturing his friendship with the Tamori daimyo had bore fruit. He nodded to his aide to remain back in the court chamber as he expressed his wish to retire for the evening.
He turned over to Yumi. "Kitsune-san, I am afraid that the cold here in the north cannot prove as "soothing or refreshing" as I might have guessed. I would like to speak with you again should you wish, perhaps talking our matters over some tea. What would you say?"
After the Kitsune's answer he bid her farewell and dismissed himself.

The Kitsune woman graciously accepted the invitation for tea at a later point. She now found herself alone within the court of Kyuden Otomo. A small smile crept along her face as her nature started to bud amongst her thoughts. Turning her head to be sure no one else was around, she turned and took off looking to play some pranks on the unsuspecting.

Agasha Shodai took his seat by Kakita Battou again. "It took me several hours..."[/b] A statement that would surely confuse the duelist since, from the bushi's perspective it had been only a few moments had passed. "...But I believe I have found an angle for your search."
"Shortly before his reported death, Kakita Shinoburo was in the Yasuki Family lands when he was purportedly in Kyuden Gotei to secure the trade route that would pass through the Crane and Lion lands. I do know that while there he met with Yasuki Chad and Yoritomo Raiden in a number of private meetings they took great pains to hide from everyone - even the Kami, though such efforts to hide from the all seeing eye of Tengoku are ultimately pointless."[/b]
The Void Master shook his head - he'd actually been warming up to the Yasuki Daimyo. In a best case scenario, the man was innocent and was merely the means that Shinoburo had utilized to escape his life of noteriety. In the worst case, he was a member of the Kolat conspiracy and, therefore, the bane of everything that Agasha Shodai stood for.
Shodai was genuinely hoping it would be the former. Chad's thread was not as shunned by the Thousand Fortunes as Shinoburo's was, suggesting hope for the displaced daimyo's soul. But such thoughts were for him alone to consider: mentioning them could color Battou's thoughts and jeopardize his mission.
"Obviously, you can't just confront Yasuki-san and beat a confession out of him, but perhaps it will give you a place to start."[/b]
The shugenja poured himself another cup of tea. "What kind of person did Kakita Shinoburo seem to be to you? I only know of him from the talks Mitsouko-sa..."[/b] He coughed briefly; he'd nearly slipped up the honorific AGAIN. "Excuse me, Mitsouko-san's stories of him, which are colored by a daughter's love for her father... It was one of many things we discussed in our search for her family's TRUE heirloom blade..."[/b]

Battou's eyebrow lifted at the Phoenix's contention with Yasuki Chad and his assumption that Battou could not just beat a confession out of him. Yasuki Chad had always been heralded, especially by those near to him, as someone to be respected for his loyalty and contribution to the empire. Though, in Battou's experience, the most loyal men were often the ones with the most to hide from their lord.
Then Shodai switched subjects on him. And his mind soon moved on to the question at hand.
"Shinoburo-sama was always a person that I admired. So, I'm not sure that my own thoughts on him will vary greatly from what you have from Mitsouko-sama. I always thought of him as a great man. He had many influences upon me and in fact I would not have turned out the way I did if I had not known him. I was thoroughly surprised to find that he may still be alive, and even more surprised that he faked his death. I feel quite disturbed by the notion of it. As would anyone who had put faith in him. Most especially Mitsouko-sama."
He continued to sip the tea as it was brought to him. Despite his misgivings about meeting with this man, Shodai seemed more like a mildly distracted uncle than anything else. Like his mind was always on another thought and he asked lots of quesitons to give himself time to catch up to whatever was crossing his mind.

The Void Master nodded to the swordsmith. "A fair answer. It is always good to work with someone who knows themselves enough to know their own limitations. It is the first step on the road to Enlightenment."[/b]
Shodai smiled as he took a long sip from his tea cup and read the other man's body language. "And I must admit that I wouldn't believe that anyone would ever willingly turn their back on a woman as impressive as Kakita Mitsouko. That it is her own father bodes rather ill... How is she feeling, by the way? I haven't seen her since Seawatch Castle."[/b]

Mmm hmm. Yeah... Mitsouko. I almost forgot that this man may have been at one time a rival for her affections. Well...not any more.
Battou's body straightened and his mood became slightly more serious. He sat the tea cup down on the saucer and placed one arm across his chest and rested the other against his elbow. He placed the hand of the rested one upon his chin, as if contemplative on the subject of Mitsouko.
"She is...busy. If I am correct in my thinking she has had no time to herself for a very long time. Alesha, that monster, has made her very wary and unwilling to trust anyone. Even herself. So she has dove into her work with full gusto. Though, if I don't miss my mark, I believe that she is trying to find a way to prove that she has not been compromised in any way by the encounter. But I don't know for sure. I did not speak with her at length about the events that transpired at Seawatch and prior to tonight I had not seen her in more than a year. Before Shinoburo-samas.... disappearance. My own studies have kept me rather busy."
He put both of his hands upon the table and looked across at the void master and he moved his knees up underneath him as if getting ready to stand.
"You'll forgive me for taking up so much of your precious time, Void Master. If you have nothing else to discuss with me then I shall take my leave. I need to find Yasuki Chad-san and...discuss with him the information that I have gained."
He paused, waiting for any indication one way or the other from Shodai.

".....I see." Yasuki Chad crushed the ciphered letter thoughtfully. He threw the crumpled paper into the fire place and prepared several responses to various contacts he had cultivated in the last 5 years. For most of that night he writes, seals, and sends these letters. He has his travel gear prepared as well. While he takes more pleasure in court then he would ever deign to let on, his presence was needed elsewhere.
He would of course have to notify his allies in the Crane. On the upside, Hitoshi's sudden request would perfectly explain his sudden eagerness to Return to the Yasuki Palaces...
