Sojiro noticed the servant looking at him, but he was too preoccupied to really give it much thought.
"Well, we have plenty of witnesses that know you haven't left the court, and honestly, the fan game is fairly common, so I'm pretty sure your reputation is safe."
"I can send a message to the Lion alerting them to what has happened, and informing them that we will have our own agents looking into it as well as the magistrates. For the truce's sake, I think that is the best option at this time. We also need to figure out where Quarim is, and see if he handed your fan off to someone else... and also to see if he is lying when he claims that he did. I don't know the man, and I'm not one to hold someone's place of birth against them, but we can't rule the possibility out that he is in fact the killer, Mitsouko-sama."
He took a long puff from the tobacco.
"Do you know anything about him that might be useful?"

Not much really. He was there and tried to interfere with "my stay in Mantis ships', in fact I was very stressed to remember something useful... I remember the Kitsune daimyo really didn't like him and... I got surprised when he said he had invitations, licenses and etc from both Kaneka and Naseru... Poor Mishima was exhausted or maybe was having fun with sake before magitrates arrival. She felt sympathetic to her aide's situation. Of course he has his own agenda but... Listen Sojiro, I am too tired and I have an important meeting by the morning. Also, I had word a larger Lion's comitive is coming to finally sign the truce. Naetaru's 'corps diplomatique' efforts finally gave effect! She victoriously smiled. Take care of this subject for me, please. Tell then the fan is mine and try to find Quarin before them. Question him. I don't wish to see him arrested unfairly, I owe him. Can you do it for me?

Sojiro's face lit up as Mitsouko told him that the truce had finally been finalized.
I'l handle it, Mitsouko-sama. You worry about the Lion and our truce, you all worked hard for it."

I am relieved you will take care of it for us, Sojiro. After signing this truce we must have a meeting with Fitsu-sama about new strategies, you must be there as well. Kakita Mitsouko bowed briefly for her friend. Knowing well Sojiro, she knew he wasn't a man to delay in doing what was needed. In fact she had been delaying the moment of going to sleep, but her body was in need of some rest. Though, she was waiting for another visit in the beginning of the dawn. It should be a discreet an important meeting. After he’s gone, Mitsouko asked Mishima to follow her: Please, Mishima-san, I need to dictate some letters to Lion… before my other guest comes. She crossed the chambers and opened the door where her private chamber was. There, a servant bowed and offered tea for both. Refresh yourself with some tea, Mishima-san. I'm sorry to keep you awake for so many time... Mitsouko though refused tea for herself, and reclined in her bed, she waved to a small table in a far corner of the room, where a sumi-e set and fine sorts of paper was at Mishima’s disposal. Make yourself comfortable, Mishima -san. I can start when you are ready. Though, let me rest my body a little bit when I dictate you the words… Though... 20 minutes later she was asleep.

Before he leaves, Sojiro turns back around.
[color+Blue]"Mitsouko-sama, may I have your fan please? I have a few ideas, and if there is a Kitsuki from the Dragon clan here, I may be able to use my connections to have them help with this. But they will most likely need the fan."[/color]

Mitsouko handed it to him. "Before you go... I'm waiting to duel with you tomorrow, in the contest. Since I am not leaving the court as i was planning, not before talking to Lion delegation... I need to test your well known technique... as we failed last time." Mitsouko chuckled, "Now go my friend. I trust you will do untangle this situation before it can weight over Lion's brush."

As Sojiro left, a servant entered bearing a sealed letter from Kakita Hitoshi and handed it to Mitsouko.
Mitsouko-sama,
Whilst I have been spending time enjoying this court, I cannot help but also be thinking of the war. Whilst the peace between Crane and Lion appears to be progressing well, there are still things to be done. Do you think we could bring together the members of our clan for a frank discussion of this matter?
Your servant, Kakita Hitoshi

"Shireikan-san Your suggestion comes in accordance with my own wishes. Tomorrow night we must gather with Fitsu-tono to plan new strategies. Your presence is awaited, as well of other Crane families or their hatamoto."

The early morning of the next day found Usagi Izutsu already up and dressed, walking with great purpose to the chambers of Kakita Mitsouko. He was flanked by two guards in the armor of the Jade Legion, and his eyes burned with a purpose. They had chosen to come so early so as to avoid drawing too much suspicion to the Daimyo, and so far it had paid off; the hallways were clear of all but guards, who knew how to keep their mouths shut.
He arrived outside her chambers, where her guards and two of his own, though they were disguised, stood. "Tell Kakita Mitsouko-sama that Usagi Izutsu is here to see her in response to the message she sent me last night," he said firmly to one of the guards, making it clear that he did not want to be held waiting long.

Mitsouko was immersed in troubled dreams where Alesha was whispering in her ear…sickly words of madness and evil. Though she woke up by the soft touch of Mimi, her servant.
Lady Mitsouko-tono… Usaji Izutsu-sama comes to see you. Her eyes wandered through the room, without really focusing, just acknowledging Mishima-san had just finished the letters that needed her seal and respectfully didn't disturb her sleeping, and was revising the missives before she finally signed them. He didn’t raise his eyes from his work. Mitsouko sat, reordering her thoughts and hair, noticing how little she had rested, though it seemed a torturing eternity. She drank the water offered by the servant, and said: Mishima-san, that’s enough for now. I am sure you are pretty tired. We can continue it later, please go rest. You surely deserves some. After her aide left her private chamber and Mitsouko was ready to receive the Jade Magistrate, Usaji Izutsu was made come in. She was of course weary and with symptoms of great stress, though an experienced magistrate could easily notice she was suffering of lack of rest and other symptoms of someone who dealt with an oni recently.

He entered into her quarters, noting her disheveled appearance, but it was to be expected from someone who had gone through what she had. He glanced over the aide quickly as well, and almost frowned; there was something slightly off about him, but he would have to address that later. Izutsu bowed to Mitsouko, his a courteous smile on his face that did not quite meet his eyes.
"Mitsouko-sama, it is a pleasure to see you again. I admit, you had me worried when you stormed away from our conversation yesterday, but I see I needn't have." He walked a little farther in at her invitation, and gave a look around, noting the large number of freshly written scrolls and mostly finished candles.

Sorry Izutsu-sama... I was feeling sick. Forgive my rude departure, I was trying to avoid further embarassment...it would be shameful. Though, I am glad you found time to gently attend my invitation... Have you ate rice today? the Kakita daimyo waved indicating a cushion where the Hare Regent could sit. She opted for ban-cha instead Jade Petal, as it used to estimulate her morning sickness, she had discovered. Share a teapot with me, Hare-san? She managed a gentle smile while made herself comfortable as well, serving their cups with fuming hot water and then pouring with Crane Practice the ground tea leaves over it. I was expecting to continue the conversation we started in the eve.

The magistrate nodded and smiled politely as he sat at the invitation of the Kakita daimyo. "Thank you Mitsouko-sama, some tea would be exquisite, I think." He inhaled deeply, breathing a contented sigh as the rich aroma of the tea floated up, flowing gently over his senses and putting him truly at ease, if only for a moment.
He sipped his tea in silence for a moment, lost in thought before returning his attention to Mitsouko's statement. "I understand, truly I do, but you must understand the position you put me in yesterday. I simply wish you had mentioned something before you had left." He sipped his tea again, though now his eyes had returned to their normal steely black, his cynicism and jadedness returned.
"Now, I believe we were discussing what we were going to do about your situation. I apologize if I am slightly forward, but I feel that today is going to be a very busy day for me."

Mitsouko was already completely embarrassed by the fact, and her interlocutor remark did it worse. Something inside her just wished to slap him for his lack of understanding but, of course… how could he know? And that’s one of the taint effects she knew. This rush of aggressiveness was something she had left behind in her childhood days. Yes, I could but it would mean an unnecessary risk to your fine kimono and the honor of both of us. Like I said, I was sick. She said in stern tone. And yes, I am at your disposal to answer with total sincerity your questions. The security of the Empire is of utmost importance to me. My stay n the court isn’t planned to be long, though, I came to find Fitsu-sama and report to him. Though my position pressed me to a public appearance and some court activities before my departure to the duties I have. But yesterday I receive word that a Lion delegation is coming to prestige the success of the truce pact between our clans. It seems will change my plans and prolong my stay. Her thoughts went to war-politics plans for a moment, and then returned to the Hare Regent. Mitsouko was a woman of intense gaze and if she hadn't a bleached hair maybe one could mistaken her as from many other clans, but Crane. You see... this truce you preserve Hantei-tenno integrity while we manage either win or dismiss this war. And... after my duty to my clan is done, I wish to hunt and destroy Alesha and his cell. Your assistance would be inestimable, Izutsu-sama.

He smiled a little, though it still did not reach his eyes. He noticed the aggression to his response; he had provoked her deliberately, so it was not unexpected. Her desire to hunt the man who had caused this was also something Izutsu had planned for...
"Mitsouko-sama, I understand greatly your need for vengeance against this Alesha, and while I would normally advise against it, in this case I think it is the best option. This way, the threat is removed and we no longer have to worry about you at all." He adjusted in his seat and finished his tea. "I of course will be honored to accompany you, and I shall bring some of my best men, in addition to whatever..."
He was interrupted by the door to the chamber opening, and one of his men entered with an apologetic look on his face. He bowed low, and approached Izutsu on his knees and began whispering in his ear. The Hare's face grew dark as he listened, and as the man backed away, he shook his head wearily. "Two already... I wonder how they always know? No matter, I must finish my meeting here. Give word to both parties..." He handed two hastily written scrolls to the guard and sent him on his way.
"Apologies, Mitsouko-sama, it seems that already my work calls to me. But yes, I shall hunt Alesha with you. I will need to now everything you can tell me about this man before we begin, however. I take no chances when hunting powerful maho users." He adjusted his position once again, and gave Mitsouko a stern, powerful gaze that spoke of his zeal and passion to this hunt.
