"As have I. The realization has hit, several things have happened and now I'm leaving. Haruka is coming with me, and as always, you will remain in this hole."
His tone was brusque and authoritative, it left no room for argument. Rashiru's lips parted and it seemed as though she was about to say something, but stifled it. A couple of small tense laughs escaped her mouth and she only moved backward from them, out the door and away from it, to allow them passage.
Which they took. They moved down that Z curved hallway that they had both seen so many times before, and out the doorway that had only just this moment been unlocked as Rashiru was moving ahead of them to open all the doors. As they got to the final reception room where they would exit out of the building, Rashiru had stopped. And before them on a table was arranged all the gear that had been stripped from them in the capture. Anything that they had with them when they were taken from Yun's room in Ryoko Owari. The only addition being a set of clothing for both of them. Simple robes and hakama, both made in black.

Haruka followed along with some ease, looking over the various items from her time before her capture. Her fingers traced over her family's wakizashi, noting that at least her things had been really taken care of. But Haruka only pulled away from Yun momentarily as she found a side room for some privacy as she redressed herself.
Shedding the painful memories of her old rags it was another step towards putting these weeks behind her. Her clothing was simple but it didn't seem to matter much to Haruka. After finishing her transition she simply left the old bits of cloth behind her and refitted her weapon at her side. She had not brought much with her when she was going along to have dinner with Yun, it only dawned on her now that she should have been better prepared.
Standing in a firm relaxed state, she looked to Yun to lead the way onto her new... training. Needless to say having even a moment now to think about it, Haruka knew she had crossed the terrible threshold. But there would be time to see if it was worth the price she now paid.

When she came back into the room. Yun was dressed similarly to how she was. He had fitted all the accoutrements that he had kept so tidy in his sack along his person as best he could. Several straps held his scroll case and several other things in place across him. The sack he had discarded. Haruka could see that most of his 'cooking' kit had been smashed in they journey, and for some reason they had bothered to bring it to him and he saw no use in it. In his hand he held his wakizashi which he was just fitting into his obi as she came out.
There was also a katana that Haruka had not seen before, which Yun hefted and placed into the other side of his obi, across from the wakizashi.
They both moved out of the room, into the harsh light of the shadowlands. And what was waiting for them out there was a surprise to both of them.

Four horsemen came riding up to the entrance of the building as Yun and Haruka emerged. One of them dressed in the heavy armor and white robes typical of a monk of the Order of Venom, and two of them dressed in simple ashigaru armor bearing the mon of the Spider. At the head of the group rode the largest of the four men, a man with distinctively Moto features. He was dressed in dark grey heavy armor that had clearly seen many years of use and a black cloak lined with fur, and he carried a heavy scimitar and wakizashi at his side.
Daigotsu Thrakhath, Obsidian Champion, dismounted and approached the pair, one hand resting on the hilt of his weapon. "Yun-san," he said, with a slight nod of acknowledgment. "Fancy meeting you here, hm?" He turned to face the other and looked her over quickly. "And who is your lovely young companion?" He asked. His entire tone and demeanor was mocking, as if he already knew all of the answers, and this conversation was simply a formality.

"Uh..."
Yun was fairly speechless for several seconds. Daigotsu Thrakhath, the Obsidian Champion and Regent to Daigotsu himself, of all people, was here right in front of them. He had a lot of trepidations about speaking with him any more than necessary. He wasn't sure that his old relations in the spider would be his new relations, and he wasn't sure how this man would take indistinct language. He stared at Thrakhath, and there was something in his eyes that was hard to grasp.
"This is Bayushi Haruka. She has recently become my student. I will now be instructing her in the ways of being a Maho-tsukai. And then we shall see what will happen afterward. We'll..." His tone became a little more bold. "We'll be moving along now, for the time being, but there is no guarantee of anything from us yet."
He grabbed Haruka's hand and he began to edge her around the riders towards the open gate. He was moving slowly, warily.

There was a recognition in Thrakhath's eye at the mention of Haruka's name that someone trained in noticing such subtle details would not be able to miss. He watched the two of them slowly backing away with a slight grin on his face. "Good luck in your training, Bayushi-san," he said. "With a teacher like Yun, I'm sure a student of your caliber will rise to great heights."

They sidled by Thrakhath and his guard and made their way out the gate. This time the earthen hands made no attempts to stop them from their egress of the prison. Yun pulled a scroll from his case and chanted for several seconds, bringing the kami to bear, and he and Haruka were lifted into the air. They flew, off into the distance.
[OOC] AND WE'RE WRAP!! Thank you for following us along. Either Senshi or Haruka will start the next thread, I'm not sure which, but thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it, I know the subject matter was a little harsh; but we really hope you enjoyed reading it.
When the next thread is up, and after I've had some sleep, I'll link to it from here, as I've done with all of the threads concerning Yun. [/OOC]

Thrakhath watched the two fly off, then he motioned for his companions to follow and entered the building. The inside of the building was a maze of twists and turns, but Thrakhath moved through the halls as if he'd been here numerous times. He stopped in front of one of the doors; from the outside no different than the others. He banged on the door, and rustling could be heard from within. Without waiting for permission, Thrakhath opened the door, and he and his companions stepped through. "Have I caught you at a bad time, Rashiru-san?"
Rashiru seemed to be rushing to assemble the various scrolls and papers on her table into some form of order, and was surprised at Thrakhath's sudden entrance. "Thrakhath-sama," she said with a bow. "This is... an unexpected surprise!" She clapped her hands excitedly. "And may I say, congratulations on your recent promotion. Are you here to see one of the prisoners? I'm sad to say my most interesting guests have already left..." there was a fair amount of disappointment in her voice.
Thrakhath lifted a hand to stop her. "Yes, we ran into them on the way in," he said. "Fine work, as usual, but that isn't why I'm here."
"Oh..." she said, clearly confused. "What brings you to me, then?"
Thrakhath approached her and reached into his sleeve, pulling out the scroll in question and handing it to her. "I need this identified."
"That should be simple enough," she said, taking the scroll and unfurling it on the table before her. "Ah yes, I've seen this many times before," Rashiru said. "It's the sort of spell one would use as a ward against theft. We Chuda make extensive use of it."
Thrakhath's eyes narrowed into a glare, and as Rashiru looked up she recoiled instinctively. "The Chuda are the only ones who make use of this particular ward?" he said in a low voice.
"Y-yes, Thrakhath-sama," Rashiru said. "Have I offended you somehow?"
He ignored the question. "Where are these scrolls kept?"
"In the library within the palace, m-my lord," she said.
"And is it safe to say," Thrakhath nearly growled, "that spell scrolls of this nature would be protected by the same sort of wards?"
"Of course, my lord," Rashiru said. "Only a Chuda would know how to deactivate them."
Thrakhath grabbed the end of the table and hurled it against the wall with all his strength, splintering the table into shards and sending papers flying throughout the room. Rashiru yelped in surprise and jumped back, throwing her arms up as if to ward off an attack. Thrakhath never made a move against her, however. He simply turned and left the room, motioning for the others to follow him.

"What a particularly delicious development." Yamuso said as he followed Thrakhath out. "This muddies the waters, and casts doubt on any logic." Yamuso considered the groups involved.
The Chuda, The family whose former Daimyo left them to reclaim his, and to an extent their, former lands.
The Snake, The Daimyo's honorable new toy left broken by the machinations of the Master of Secrets.
Who knew how many of these Chuda or Tamihei could claim bloodlines to the original Chuda family? Did it matter? Was it integral to this? The only certainty in all of this, was that when it all fell apart, some of the Tamihei came crawling back, stuck here, searching to start over.
There were a few possibilities. Either the two groups he abandoned are privately warring, or they are working together to undermine the Dark Lord, and his Champion. Interesting developments to say the least.
After Yamuso quietly thought it through, he spoke. "Tell me Thrakhath-sama. Do you believe that the serpent caught it's own tail, or the Dragon's toe? "

"I've heard that, when presented with a complex problem, the simplest answer tends to be the correct one," Thrakhath said as they walked. "You said before that the goal of the Tamihei is to get back into the Spider's good graces," he said. "A move like this on their part doesn't make sense."
He pushed open the door at the end of the hall, and the group stepped back out into the Shadowlands. "Revenge is the simplest of all motivations, wouldn't you agree, Yamuso-san?" he said. "I allowed the Chuda daimyo to die at Shiro Hiruma, and those loyal to him now seek to destroy me any way they can." he turned to face Yamuso as he prepared to mount. "What say you to that?"

Yamuso looked at Thrakhath, and pulled the jingasa off his head, wiping at it. "It seems the serpent's eyes were larger than their stomach." He replaced the Jingasa and mounted, looking at the sky. "Revenge is simple, but ineffective. Without Will, Revenge makes one careless, sloppy even." Yamuso rested his hands against the hilts of the dual blades sheathed against his back and straightened himself in the saddle. "The easiest way to defeat my enemy, is to destroy what he loves. The Revenge blinds him, and his death is a forgone conclusion."

Thrakhath's grin was decidedly predatory. "My thoughts exactly, Yamuso-san," he said. He lifted himself up into the saddle and grasped the reins. "We will ride home and torture every Chuda we come across until we find out where they exited the city, and then we will hunt down those traitorous fools and relieve them of my property and their lives." He snapped the reins and kicked his horse forward, charging at a gallop towards the City of the Lost.
