Sprinkles returned to the hideout he had in the Shinomen Marsh. He had collected the first items of what he needed. He took the shale that Daichi gave him and placed it next to a mempo. The mempo made of obsidian and dipped in oni blood. Anyone who wore it was doomed to slowly go insane.
He once again checked the ritual he was working on to ensure no mistakes were made. Confident that all was well with the ritual itself he checked the items themselves. Looking into the Void he could see the Taint radiating off the mempo. But nothing came from the shale. No light, no holiness. It was nothing more than a useless object.
Sprinkles fury overtook him quickly. FOX! YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS! You think your tricks will work on me. I'll use you personally for my ritual. I'll make you suffer for this.
He took a moment to calm himself then began a different ritual. He cast his mind into the Void as sought for the closest Blessed item near him. He would have his revenge in time. But first he needed to secure the materials he needed. His mind reached out and came to rest again in the Mori. The kitsune did not have a Blessed item but the Scorpion did. One lone samurai was Touched. Sprinkles had his target.

The early spring rain is punishing the Scorpion camp in Kitsune Mori. Like if the Kitsune and Moshi families had worked together to have this storm to fall right now.
The recent fight with the gaki-mushi was costly, and the tents could not fully resist the heavy rain fall and strong winds. The camp was emerging in mud, the siege engines getting jammed.
Hiromitsu ordered the guards to leave their positions on the trees just before a lightning strike a surveillance spot on top of a pine. Everyone is wet and in the worst mood they had been in weeks.
-Hiromitsu-sama.
Another bushi approached him bowing, and quickly started the report.
-A small fire started on the east side of the camp due to the lightning. We lost three more tents and the south area is starting to flood. Any orders sir?
Hiromitsu thinks over his options for a while. The bushis are both fully wet when the hail starts to fall. They glance at each other briefly, It's needless to say how bad it is.
-Hail... - they complain briefly
-Well, gather the ones wounded in the fight against the gaki and retreat them back to Kudo. Also gather one third of our bushi and head to Clear Water village. Good thing about the rain is that Mantis scouts won't be around as well. I'm going to stay and buy us some more time.
-There is one more thing...
-hum?
-We have a prisioner...
-I told we need no prisioners. Is it a Kitsune? Release him, I don't need a soaked enemy.
-It's a Crane.
Hiromitsu just pulls his oni mask to cover his face, hidding the authentic 'wtf' expression before anyone could see it.
-Are you kidding? We're supposed to be allies with the Crane. I mean, they are supposed to believe we're allies! Not that I like it but... you know, orders.
The other bushi just shoulders slightly.
-We found it kinda odd to see a lonely Crane around. You know, walking on foot without all the fancy fluffiness, so we were unsure if it was really a Crane or just someone dressed as a Crane. Well, she happen to really be a Crane. What should we do?
-Hum... I'm going to take care of it. Go, move this sodden army to somewhere else now.
-Yes sir.
Hiromitsu watched the bushi go. Then he faced north, to meet this supposed "guest".

Only one guard was guarding the entrance of the tent. A small river of mud had formed within the improvised "prision".
Hiromitsu walked in to find a rather tall samurai-ko, standing, dressed in sky blue and... brown. A very uncommon color combination. Her face and hair hidden under a wide gingaza. She had her daisho on her right side, that is good.
The Scorpion bowed briefly, eyes scanning his guest while she briefly bows back.
-Greentings Crane-san. I'm really glad Crane-san made her way here in safety. My appologies if Scorpion scouts were, let's say..., in a hush to bring you here. We're very very concerned about our allies safety.
-Tee-hee, no need to explain Hiromitsu-san. - She pushed the gingaza to her back, revealing the white hair tied in a pony tail, and the face with a brief malicious smile. - I don't think I noticed your fellow clansman treating me like a prisioner. It would be a major diplomatic issue... I'm glad it didn't happened.
Hiromitsu took the mask out of the way looking at her.
-Daidoji-san!
-I got your letter. Allow me to say Hiromitsu-san choose the worst messager in the Empire. You have no idea how long I had to wait until Asahina-sama gives me this.
Hiromitsu could barely believe his eyes.
-I can't believe Daidoji-san is here. You simply vanished from Kyuden Otomo...
-I was sent to deal with the Lion who was considering to attack Kyuden Otomo back there. I had no time to let you know about it.
-It's ok. It's ok. I'm glad you're here.
-I'm glad to be here too. Can I have my weapons and armor back now?
-By the fortunes. Sure, sure Daidoji-san can.
Hiromitsu moved a few steps avoiding the water and opened a big wood chest with a tap.
-There you go.
Yuuka was surprised:
-It wasn't even locked? O.o
-Honored guests wouldn't try to open anyway. That's good so we don't need to worry about where the keys are.
-I can't believe it. - She walked towards the large chest finding her stuff inside. She started pulling out the dirty armor. - Would Bayushi-san help me?
He nodded silently a steped foward to help her to dress her armor again.
After that she took a pole weapon from the chest, wrapped in in black fabric, that she easily attached to the back of her armor. And then a small pack.
-That is probably the reason of my delay. - She offered the pack - Asahina-sama requested me to deliver this to Bayushi-san.
