((OOC: More or less, something like this.))
Two days later our very strange group was (officially at least) in the Shadowlands and still arguing. It seemed that the Book Keeper and I were unable to find common ground on just about any subject, including name calling.
"Honestly Book Keeper, is ‘little birdie’ the absolute best insult you can come up with!? Do you have any idea how many times I’ve been called that in my life? I think your actual crime is your inability to be innovative when trying to degrade other clans. We have so many more traits than the fact that there is a bird on our kamon. Look, I can think of more than a dozen right now."
And so, just to prove the sheer superiority of the Phoenix over the Spider in each and every subject I began a recitation of our greatest weaknesses.
"A Phoenix wears red so that when he is cut by his enemy, his friends will not see the blood and know that he did anything so distasteful as fight.
"Once a lord Phoenix married into another clan and when his relatives came to visit they had to ask why his wife and her armor were away at war
"A Phoenix Bride is known for her ability to keep a very clean home. So is a Phoenix Husband.
"Have you heard the story of the greatest war hero in the Phoenix? Neither have I.
"It is said that an Isawa can defeat an entire army without harming a single one. If only he had the bravery to kill them then he wouldn’t have to do it so many times.
"When the Asahina joined Lady Doji’s Clan they brought many of the skills of the Phoenix with them. The Akodo generals have been thankful ever since.
"The Phoenix have samurai in the same way that the Crab have manners.
"I was once invited to see the Shiba Troops doing drills and was confused because my hosts seemed to bring me to a children’s festival.
"A Matsu and a Shiba challenged each other to a duel and when the appointed day arrived, the Lion asked the Phoenix if he had lost his champion on the way.
"Shiba was defeated soundly defeated by Lady Doji in the first tournament. Doji passed on her great knowledge of art while Shiba passed on his great knowledge of warfare.
"Once the Phoenix marshaled all their forces to fight the Lion, and only a single regiment ever arrived on the field.
"It is well that the Phoenix live in the mountains for they would be unable to thrive in the REAL World.
"Even the Dragon could learn a thing or two about staying out of other people’s business from the Phoenix.
"Of all the ten thousand things under Mother Sun, the phoenix is the only one stupid enough to set itself on fire.
"If the Isawa were true masters of magic then they would not need the Agasha to teach them after 1000 years of study.
"I once thought that I would have to speak to a Phoenix in court but then there was a girl in the room and the Phoenix left.
"One Asako is a greater warrior than one hundred Lions, for just by speaking he can put entire armies to sleep.
"A Bayushi went to winter court with the intention of causing his foe’s plans to fail. When he arrived he saw that his foe was a Phoenix and spent the whole winter learning to play the shamisen.
"Shall I continue with this lesson Book Keeper or are you satisfied that there are better ways to address your superiors?"
((OOC: I think you're free to do whatever now.))

And with a smile from ear to ear on The Keepers face while listening to this little bird speak of his clans greatest flaws till the end the keeper had just one thing to say. “No you little bird the reason I call you little bird is you have not the manners to have told me your name, for this entire trip you have not done me the proper courtesy and told me your name and that’s the only reason I call you little bird.” And with that said The Keeper breaks out in load laughter.
After a few minutes of it to pass he stops “Now it is time for you guys to release me from the shackles before any of the Spider spies sees me in them or your entire trip will be for not.”

"Truly, this has been the most pleasant trip I have ever been on."
I pulled a key out of my kimono and moved toward the Keeper.
"Before we release you I need to perform an ancient ritual to ensure that you don’t betray us."
I formed my hand into a simple mudra seal and slowly moved it toward the Book Keeper’s face. I circled it twice around his forehead and then very carefully, I flicked his forehead just as hard as I was able with my middle finger.
"There. Now that that’s done, we can release you safely."
I grabbed the Book Keeper’s shackles and unlocked his cuffs and then the ankle shackles as well. I gathered up the shackles and slung them over my shoulder then began walking again.
"Congratulations Keeper. Now if you will be so kind as to lead us to your wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Now that The Keeper was free from the shackles. The Keeper was planning the next steps to end this little façade. Grab one of the nearby dagger’s stab one of the people in the heart. Bring forth Enigorl and slaughter everyone here except the little bird and Quarim to spread the Fear of The Keeper. Or I could just start killing everyone around me. And use their blood to work the ground in to a site of building. Either way it looks like the empire will be meeting Enigoral soon. Or I could bring them to the Big Stink let the goblins kill the caravan. It would earn some credit with goblins and maybe convince an earth shaman to join my crafting guild. Bring every single person to the Gates of the Spider summon Enigoral and have him rain down fire and taint upon the caravan, mark the little bird with the taint upon his very soul and release him to see what he douse with his life. Bring the dead bodies to the Chuda to experiment with for undead reanimation. Try and talk to the Obsidian Champion and get a building in the city and start planning stuff to further the Spider clan. Building a library for all magic users on all magical topics to bring more people from the empire to the Shadowlands and, more to embrace the taint. Make papers for the spider to travel throughout the empire. Make weapons and items to spread the taint. The Empire will learn soon just how far the all Oni will go to spread their champion’s Tao. The Tao of Fu Leng is so much more than anyone will ever understand. Within the Tao are pages upon pages of summoning oni, uses of crafting and magic that has not ever been seen in the empire.
“Now I will bring your people to a safe spot to set up camp while we three go to the city. And bring forth the spider you are looking for. There is a cave nearby that I use in my spare time that will hold the caravan while we go about our business. So follow me and we can get this business done and over with.”

Quarim approached the two men as The Keeper was freed. Only the day before had the final papers been drafted for the Spider alliance. It was more symbolic than substance. The Spider would show support for any move the Houses of Dahab made within the Empire, and provide spy reports as they seemed to be everywhere. Meanwhile the Houses would provide favorable trade agreements with the Spider allowing them access to gaijin goods and at a favorable rate.
For the first time either men had seen Quarim had a small dagger sheathed at his side. It appeared even he maybe nervous here. My men are in your hands Keeper. If they remain safe then you will be rewarded. Please lead the way.

The Keeper was pleased that the Quarim had the treaty. It was time to get that treaty for the Spider. “Now Quarim may I have the treaty for our arrangements,” The Keeper extended his hand open to Quarim. Now do I keep his people safe or massacre them all?
(ooc I just want to make sure with all three of us that its ok for me to start destroying stuff. I don’t want to cross anyone.)

With the Spider’s copy of the treaty, the keeper was free to slaughter the people in the caravan. With the treaty now secured at his belt. He lunges forwards to one of the Gaijin nearby and grabs his knife and slashes the startled Gaijin. Grabbing some of the blood falling down the keeper puts upon the dyeing mans head the Mark of Enigorl “HEAR MY VOICE AND COME TO MY AID ENIGORL, FOR IT IS I THE KEEPER, THE KEEPER OF YOUR CHAMPIONS TAO. COME FORTH AND SPREAD DESTUCTION.” By this point the blood from the slash had reached the ground and at the precise moment the keeper finished speaking the blood connected to the ground. A blaze of black flame sprang forth and consumed the body taking the body and twisting it within the air. The Gaijin’s body now in complete and udder control of Enigorl started to grow and twist. The head spouted a crown of 12 horns. The horns appeared of a blackest bone looking as dark as the blackest of souls. Where each where at least 8 inches long. Then next came the arms and legs, all of them started twisting and growing. The bones started growing spices that ripped right out the flesh. Next were the spine, growing and spiking like the arms. The flame brought the body back down now the last of it swirled from the ground to the center of the crown and resides in a fury of movement. The oni’s legs and arms touched down and open his eyes. And with that done, Enigorl tipped his head back and opened his mouth great big and wide and just roared with all the oni’s rage and anger.
“It’s time to play” The Keeper was grinning from ear to ear.
And with that said both The Keeper and Enigorl start the attack upon the caravan.
(ooc sorry for the wait, let me know if there’s anything you want me to change)

Well, this was decidedly unexpected. I watched the gaijin spasm and contort into a monstrosity before my eyes. It was a sickening and horrifying sight that made me want to wretch but I somehow managed to keep that particular aspect of my composure. Looking back on it I cannot imagine I was anything but in shock.
I suppose I should have expected something like this but I presumed that if we were able to apprehend a rapscallion like the Keeper so easily that he couldn’t possibly have the power to summon anything of real power. How wrong I was.
In my mind I cast around for the appropriate response to this situation and found nothing. In all my training I had been exposed to new horizons of magic and the otherwise indescribable but Master Gomaru had been strict about staying clear of any knowledge concerning the Shadowlands and especially its magic. I didn’t have a way to deal with, or even begin to process this scenario.
And so I hesitated. In the worst possible way. It wasn’t the simple pause before a well considered action or even the moment of insecurity before trying something new. I was utterly unprepared for this and I simply did not know what to do. In what I had considered my extensive years of training there was just nothing for it. My hands twitched as if trying to react by themselves but my mind ordered them down as it waited for a plan to form before taking any action.
Men were already dead and more were dying each second. Blood flew and flowed upon the ground as the black horned monstrosity sliced through the merchant caravan keepers as if they were paper dolls. Something that may have included a man’s heart splattered across my kimono as I sat helplessly watching.
My knees were weak but they had locked themselves into position as soon as the carnage began. I could only breath now because it was an action so practiced that it required no effort on my part to complete, and even that was coming shallowly. My eyes went back and forth, gathering every sight while my ears took in every sound. All this information was mixed together rot paint a grisly scene while I tried with continuing failure to try and formulate some sort of plan, or reaction, or…something. Anything.
After a simple eternity of an instant a tiny bump in my clean, blank thought process caused me to begin doing something. It was an impossible grind to modulate my voicebox and form my tongue into a true syllable to communicate anything, but with herculean effort I managed to squeak out a few words.
"Ku-kuwarimu-san. We should- We. Do something."
And another splash of blood plastered itself across my clothing.
