I've just think that (didn't found any relevant topic in the forum) maybe, Alderac could get interest in EE? I know some players are employed by alderac, so Jay, do you have any clues regarding their position towards EE?
I can try to contact some of them if need be.
It's EE which renewed my interest into the l5r rpg, making me start an new campaign, buy 4th edition, ...

No matter what will happen, I'd like to thank you Jay your hard work. EE is a legen...wait for it...dary game, and I feel lucky I found it and had the opportunity to join.
Thanks for all your work :-)

I agree with the idea of reebooting characters. I was thinking of suggesting a one generation time jump after the civil war ends just so that there is no in character reason for any reprocussions for the lossers. ( or the dirty hippie peace-nicks like me )

So, any news on this front? Will June really be the end of EE?
It is so, then... I'd like to offer a belated "thank you" to Jay & crew for making this awesome game and for cheering up otherwise dreary afternoons at work :-)
Jay, if you ever come to Rio de Janeiro lemme know. I'll buy you a drink and set up an RPG game!

I haven't had a chance to speak with Jay privately, but I haven't heard anything publicly either.
As far as getting started, it would only take....
$10.45 - Domain name $12.00 - Hosting
To get started, and we could / would take donations from anyone who wants to help, provided that Jay wants to continue. Any money left over in donations after that would get used for things like Premium Cbox, and Bandwidth, to ensure that the site would run ad free, and continue to not "cost".
There is a large number of people over in the volunteers thread that would be more than willing to help build a site, making graphics, and the like.
This is a rough time of the year for me personally, as my kids are in baseball, but I would be willing to try and do what I could when I could. If Jay reads this, feel free to message me on facebook if you want to talk more. I don't want to bug you, push or prod you too much.

$10.45 - Domain name $12.00 - Hosting Bah! Domain names are optional. You can skip it and use numbers or use a dynamic provider. Heck, my vanity domain is unused (thedarknessbetweenstars.com). I'd give you a subdomain on it. =D Depending on the bandwidth used, Amazon's free hosted server could be an option. If you can run on IIS/Windows, I'd be happy to admin it for you.

I had typed out a long post, and I guess I never hit "post"
There are pros and cons of hosting it on someone else's site. If we were to do that, I could easily offer my space as well. I have 100gb of space, and 1tb of bandwidth. The big reason I would rather set it up with its own domain, would be to get it a paypal account to accept the donations and provide a paper trail of what donations are going to what. And, doing some rough ballpark figurings on the game, even if we only retain 40% of the games population, the bandwidth that it would consume would be pretty hefty.
Basically, by setting up its own domain, and its own hosting, we can easily give the game
a recognizable URL.
keeping it self contained means that there is no chance (and I'm not saying you, or I would do this) that someone gets mad, and pulls the plug.
space for the game to become self contained, easily
a good papertrail, to make sure that everyone knows and understands that this isn't making anyone money.

I don't know if this would help, but the EE problem immediately came to mind when I found this today. It's a new story-game creator that's in beta, and having played EchoBazaar I can say that it's very similar to the design here. Here's the link to sign up to see the beta version, I know it won't be quite on time to help here, but it might be worth considering for the near future? It could eliminate issues with domains and fees and all that. signup.storynexus.com/?lrRef=PtLeJ

I hope the recent outage isn't an indication that FB is pulling the cord out early. Are you doing some experiments or transferring things over to a new system Jay?

I got a notification from Facebook that as of 10:05pm
"We are currently experiencing an issue where FBML canvas applications are failing to load. This is a bug - FBML deprecation remains scheduled for next week. We are actively investigating and will update when we have more info."
....but they cleared it up at 11:23pm
"The issues with FBML apps should now be resolved."

Just a quick update.
I have signedup for the Storynexus Beta Test, and I've signed up to play Fallen London. I'm currently waiting on my confirmation to play, but after going through the loading screen, it looks like it would be very easy to set up the registration process to allow for clans, and screen shots, and character names like what we had on Facebook.
It also looks like both games being run on the platform have an API that allows you to connect using Facebook, which would make things even easier.
So far, this is looking like a pretty interesting alternative form of getting the game going off of facebook

Do you know if it could be possible to keep our existing characters? Hiryu, hopeful Scorpion
