Greetings Fellow Spider.
I have been wondering how are we going to settle on a Champion? While the parameters of the game default to Glory, I wonder if we might want to take a page from the Scorpion and Vote a Clan Champion, or decide through other means.

Why, a tournament to the death of course, the same way we Spider decide everything.

OOC 1) the Dragon also have held a vote on champion seeking wisdom not glory.
2) great quote from a game - a spider had just lost the duel from a game of go event and started to sweep his personality and the other player says he's not dead it was just a game of go-"In the shadowlands we play go to the death"

I believe that the titles are something of an interesting note. I believe I'll be able to tell all of you more on that later.

Well, assuming Daigotsu is letting someone else be the champion of each of the families, I think those would go something like this:
Chuda - Best Maho-tsukai (Spellcraft?) Goju - Most Shadowlands (or taint) Kokujin - (Are we recognizing Kokujin family?) Highest total rings. Daigotsu - Most Glory

Daigotsu with the Most Glory is fine with me ^^ The Kokujin family doesn't exist anymore, and a Goju or Chuda champion wouldn't make a lot of sense. In my opinion, the Spider Clan champion has to be a Daigotsu or maybe a Monk. The Daigotsu and the Order of the Spider would probably never follow a Chuda and I see some issues with a Goju champion too.

Tsuneki, we're in the year 1164 as far as I'm aware. The Kokujin family isn't abolished until 1169. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Also remember that there are daimyo of every family, no just the Clan head. There is a vast plethora of leadership positions.

I didn't know there was an actual timeline for the game and guessed it was current with the CCG. Obviously, I was wrong ^^
Aside from that, I do know there is a daimyo for each family, but the thread was about clan champion and not family daimyo, hence my answer.

Yes, I know the thread is about the Clan Champion, but we might as well discuss the other family daimyo at the same time. I agree that it would be high unconventional for anyone other than a Daigotsu to be the Clan Champion.

It's still quite hard to find a precedent of how to become daimyo in a Spider family. The Daigotsu, Chuda and Goju are still ruled by the daimyo they had when they entered the clan, and the Kokujin family was entirely dependent on Kokujin himself. Michio seems to lead the Order of the Spider because he is stronger and more badass than anybody in it, so that could be a clue if we were to determine a daimyo for our monks, but we don't have them in the game (yet).
I tend to believe that Goju and daimyo together don't make much sense because of the faceless thing they have going, but I never knew them ruled by anyone else than the Shadow Dragon. About the Chuda, I don't even know what their role in the clan truly is, as they haven't been doing much since the creation of the clan. Spellcraft wouldn't quite fit as the strongest shugenja of the clan have been in the Daigotsu family. Maybe Lore could work if we want to decide that based on a skill ?

I could see leaving the Goju out because of the whole Shadow Dragon thing. The Chuda are maho-tsukai, so it still stands that the best shugenja would be the leader. We can also ignore Kokujin because really, eff that guy.

You only say Eff that guy because Kokujin isn't here to train you properly. WTB Kokujin family. I would seppuku and roll that immediately.

A Goju Obsidian Champion wouldn't be unheard of though... Thing is, I don't know if Alison and Jay have any plans about Onyx/Obsidian or not.
