Tsubin stood at the edge of the wall, noting the ongoing battle against the oni with intrerest. Where the Hida largely jumped off the wall with the sole intention of landing on the oni, many of them had come to ruin for their eagerness. Tsubin knew he was unlikely to get a second chance at distracting the horrific thing, and so he waited, his swords out and gleaming with the kami's blessing.
Finally, as the oni lifted it's head to spit a acidic tar-like substance on the wall, the Kuni leapt from the wall dropping a good twenty feet before landing on the thing's head and impaling his swords deep into it's skull.
But not through the skull. Grasping white-knuckled to the hilts as the near berserk thing whiped it's head around trying to dislodge him, Tsubin prayed his brothers would kill it before he had another, certainly fatel, flying lesson.

"Help me..break it's.. neck!" Setsuro growled out the words with short pauses before he dusted some of the jade dust onto the Phoenix Champion's hands. He sealed it quickly and then reached down with all his might, muscles straining hard against the armor and against their own limits wherever there was no armor to hide them.
"NOW!" The Crab Champion let out a piercing yell and gripped the side of the creature's neck with both hands. His command came back of a young samurai who had suddenly plunged into the oni that the three men were present upon. Not one to wait, he clenched his hands together and then turned as hard as he could. Even with his might and the strength of his ancestors behind him, Setsuro was not enough. However, that was why he had allowed the Phoenix Champion and the Hiruma Daimyo to help him. Together, they could pull it off..
((I apologize for the short post. I've actually severely injured a finger on my left hand, which makes typing odd because I've got it set in one place to heal up. I'll do my best to keep up.))

Koji played out some of the extra rope, throwing it out to loop around the creature's neck, in order to pull harder.
He then tied that off tight to a bit of the creature itself, and leaped out, using his own body's weight to help pull the creature's neck in the same direction the Crab Champion was pulling.
The worry about this being the end of his life was completely not hidden by the frequent swearing he did while falling.

The twisted parody of Tamori Fukiko laughed hard as she raised a finger and pointed at the direction of Mirumoto Katsutoshi and the newly arrived Kuni Itsuko. Screaming a command to the Kansen which surrounded the elements of the dark Shadowland region for the destruction of her enemies.
"You will not leave to see the death of the Crab Champion and your Kuni Lord!" Fukiko shouted in exuberant assumption as her fingers glowed red and produced dark flames that headed towards both samurai and shugenja.
* * * * * *
Mirumoto Katsutoshi screamed in pain as the dark fire collided with him. He had never thought that he would come face to face with the mother he thought had died all those years ago, his whole mind and spirit was in total confusion,
He felt he was dying as his vision turned to black.
Then a whispering voice suddenly spoke;
"I can give you power to defeat your mother..." a sweet yet terrible voice echoed "and the Only thing you have to do is embrace your strength..."
Katsutoshi felt a wave of dark power surging in his body as he accepted the offer of power rather than die.
The Steel Dragon charged towards the yojimbo.
The voices of one and a thousand kansen laughed to welcome another blessed of Jigoku,
(Sorry... I kinda accidentally clicked on a job which got me a taint... so there... tada!)

Kazuma grabbed a hold of the creatures neck next to Setsuro and started to pull with him. He hoped that the combined pull of both Setsuro and he, as well as the weight that would be added when Koji hit the end of his free fall with the rope, would be enough to bring this monstrous creature down.

No Kuni could fail to see how the Taint strengthened a man, especially one who had been all but dead moments before. If she hadn't needed his help to defeat the greater evil, Itsuko would have struck him down where he stood.
As it was, he made a very effective shield and she would use the tools the Fortunes' provided her.
With the warrior distracted, the two women faced one another across the torn, twisted earth of the Shadowlands. Twisted madness seemed only to enhance the dark beauty the Taint gave in the Tamori's face, mad, wild laughter leaving her lips as she raised her hands again to burn the stern-faced Crab to ash.
Kuni Itsuko only smiled, a truly terrible thing, and waved a hand, a few words murmured low.
The flames died, as did the laughter. The former Tamori looked almost as if she'd been gutted as every spirit, fair and foul, was Banished from the field of battle.
Smiling grimly, Itsuko drew her wakizashi and advanced.

"Show them your strength" The voice of one and thousand kansen whispered endlessly inside the Steel Dragon's head "Show them why you are called the Steel Dragon."
Mirumoto Katsutoshi roared and swung his katana sideways, aiming for the Lost Samurai's head, the force of the blow blocked by the Opponent's own skillful swordplay. But it was a feint... Katsutoshi followed up with a spin of his wakizashi, cutting his enemy's arm. Taking advantage of the attack, Katsutoshi whirled in a tornado like maneuver... Stretching both his blades which dealt a deadly unorthodox attack that separated his opponent in two or three pieces.
Though his opponent fell, his rage was not yet satiated, he looked and saw the thing which was his mother and the Kuni who had helped him.
Now was the time to right a wrong...

As Koji fell, secured by the rope, the monsterous oni attacking the wall roared in frustration, obviously becoming slightly vexed by the annoying insects that it just couldn't swat. The things skin bulged again and the tubes, still pointing at the wall, seemed to glow red.
With a shudder, the beast launched its cargo - flaming flying goblins. Such a thing may have been funny, if not for the screams emiting from their pitiful forms being matched by the screams of the samurai that fell foul to the destructive, indiscriminate, attacks.
One tube however did not send forth its payload. It didn't glow red. The limb twitched, as if trying to get away from some internal pain, and as quickly as the flaming attack came, from all the limbs it was extinguished.
The oni bucked suddenly. Its giant horned head swivelling to try to look at its side, tubes turning back, bashing into the oni's side as though it was trying to claw at something within it. The oni stopped, and silence settled briefly over the wall, as if to emphasis the dull 'THWUMP' that eminated from within the beast. With an unhuman exclaimation of pain, the beast lurched to the right, almost doubling over - if such a thing was possible. Several of the beasts tubes dangled pathetically, the only thing escaping from them plumes of steam. The monstrosity tried to turn, as if to flee, but those watching on the wall could tell it didn't have the strength.

Most samurai would never use their Honor to strike a blow to something as unclean as a Tainted human. Most would sooner die than risk the steel that was the physical representation of their standing in the Celestial Order.
Kuni, those who dealt in study of the Madness of the Tainted, were not most samurai and Itsuko was colder even than most of her Family. She knew, as all Crab did, how to use a weapon. The blade in her hands might be small but she held it with the sure confidence of one who had spent hours in the dojo, priestess though she was.
Tamori, save for a few, were not nearly so broad with their areas of study. Fu Leng's gifts were legion, however, as were his minions, and the Kuni's first blow was caught and deflected by the long, sinister black talons that erupted from the fallen Dragon's hands.

The Screams of the one and thousand voices rang through the head of the Steel Dragon... He saw how the parody of his fallen mother parried the strike Kuni Itsuko dealt to her.
He roared as he charged towards them. If he was right, Kuni Itsuko maybe in danger if she ever chose to face off with his mother in a sword fight. She was Tamori, but she was a mirumoto spouse who was trained to fight.
The Steel Dragon lunged at his mother. His sword piercing her abdomen. His body colliding with her... as both fell off the edge of the high grounds they were standing on.
It was the only way to repay Itsuko... Katsutoshi glanced back and saw the young crab woman,,, and when he turned his face towards he saw the laughing face of his tainted mother... and the murky black surface of a river.
His world once again turned dark...

The young Kolat watched. Amused at his handiwork. The Crab had indeed been warned in time, the Kuni were out in full force, his Kaiu brethren were in the tunnels fighting vigorously and on the wall supporting the rest of the army. The only thing he had not counted on was having the Phoenix Champion show up in person rather than send inquisitors.
Kaiu Tekkusu even admired his Champion who had charged headlong into the fray much akin to himself. The jade stores had all but been flung open in order to orchestrate this ordeal. The Crab needed to feel invincible for what was to come. They needed this bravado and this victory. If what Tekkusu had heard was true then this Oni was just a harbinger...and that did not bode well because it meant that something organized and intelligent was behind the attack.
The Jade Kolat wondered exactly how much the Phoenix Champion knew if anything and then was snapped back into reality as he saw both Champions, Crab and Phoenix mount a final assault on the Oni. An army and 2 Champions to take this one down. The future was indeed going to be interesting.

Days had passed. This section of the wall was being repaired after the fight with the Oni. Tekkusu threw himself into his work finding any excuse to throw his weight around. He enjoyed the physical labor often preferring to muscle things into place without waiting for the proper equipment. A former wrestler his duties on the wall and were paramount so practice had to be achieved by any means. He liked the rigidity of it all. Duty, honor, brotherhood. This was Man's place. No spells or prayer to the Kami.
The thought made him shudder. Man was perfectly capable of great things when he put his mind to it. The Kami were as well after all....His gaze drifted towards the Shadowlands...
Setsuro-sama... now there was a great man. A man who could get things done. Tekkusu admired the man, almost envied his position. One day things will work out patience is the order of the day. Patience is the Crab. Constantly attempting the impossible with an outlook to the future, the slow steady grind of progress. If all went well the Shadowlands would be tamed in his life time, and if not well at least he had a part in the foundation being laid.
