These are some of the most asked questions about Emerald Empire, the Facebook game. If you do not see your question here, I encourage you to do a Search before posting your question anyways.
Question - How do I raise my Fate?
* Every time you raise a ring from getting enough of elemental tokens of one type, your fate ring will be raised. Each ring is separately calculated so you will need to work on them individually.
Question - How do I raise my Rings?
* Once you get a certain amount of elemental tokens of one type, your ring will raise. To figure out how many tokens you need, use the following calculation; Take your current ring number, and multiply it by the next ring number you would get to. That is the number of tokens you will need. For instance, to get a ring from 5 to 6, you would need... 5 x 6 tokens, which means you would need 30. Note that this is 30 total, not 30 additional tokens.
Question - How do I get more maximum Koku?
* Koku is directly proportional to your Dynasty. For roughly every three you raise your Dynasty, your maximum koku will increase by 1. You can also raise your maximum koku by equipping certain items, where it will be noted that they give you koku.
Question - What is Dynasty and how do I raise it?
* More or less, dynasty is the amount of people playing Emerald Empire you have friended on Facebook. These friends are said to be in your dynasty. Checking the Dynasty link at the top of the Emerald Empire interface will show you what activities people in your dynasty have completed recently, as well as their current location and level.
Question - I don't want infamy anymore! Is there any place I can go to lower my Infamy?
* Yes, you can lower your infamy all the way back to zero if you wish. You will need to go to the Pillars of Virtue in the northwest corner of Dragon lands and do a series of jobs there. Once done they will open up a mission that lowers your infamy by 1 every time it is completed. One thing to keep in mind though is that the job has a cool down timer of 72 hours, so you'll only be able to get of one infamy every 3 days. So if you have a significant amount, it will take you a long time to get rid of it.
Question - Help, I'm tainted! Is there any place I can go to lower my Taint?
* Much like infamy, there is in fact a place you can go to lower your taint, and that's in Shiro Kuni in Crab lands. Also like lowering infamy, the job is on a cool-down, this one of 20 hours. So if you want to get rid of a significant amount, be prepared for it to take a while. One note about taint though; the job will only lower your taint to one. So you won't be able to get rid of that last point. In other words, you will never be able to be fully cured of the taint once you have it.
Question - I'm looking for a certain drop; can you help me find that item?
The first place to check is to Complete Drop List thread linked there and stickied in the top of the Questions corner section of the forums here. If the items you're looking for isn't listed or has no locations, try to do a board Search to see if it has come up before. If all else fails, feel free to ask if anyone knows the location in the Your Question - Our Answer thread stickied below the drop location thread.
Question - Is there anywhere I can find a map of the locations in Emerald Empire?
* While there is no official map at the moment, some players have made maps for others to use. At the moment, this link leads to the most updated map available.
Question - How fast do Fate and Koku come back? Is there any other way to get them back? Is there any way to speed up the process?
* Fate and koku work like resources on many Facebook games and recharge at a rate of 1 each per minute. There is no way to speed up this recharge rate or effect it at all. As far as other ways to recharge your fate and koku, the only other way besides time is to gain a level; when you level up in Emerald Empire, both your fate and koku will be restored to their maximum amounts.
Question - What's up with the locations that require 50 skill to get to? Am I actually expected to get that much into a skill?
* The good news is it's not as bad as you think it might be. There are 3 skills that have 50 requirement locations; one with Meditation, one with Shadowlands, and multiple ones with Hunting. And out of all those locations, only the one with Meditation has any jobs and is worth any amount of trouble what-so-ever; especially with the fast travel system in the game. With a good number of Meditation items in the game, hopefully that shouldn't be too hard for you to get. But honestly do not worry about Hunting or Shadowlands being that high, especially in the short term as there likely won't be missions any of those places any time soon.
Question - I got a mastery drop from a job when I reached the first level of mastery at it, but not at the second or third mastery levels. What gives?
* Well nothing is wrong with your account fortunately; jobs, in fact, only give their mastery drop at the first level of mastery. Raising to the second or third levels of master are going to merely be for experience, elemental tokens, and possibly random drops along the way.
Question - I see that I get 4 skill points when I level. How should I be spending these, especially once I have the right equipment to get most things done?
* There is no right or wrong answer to this; The only real basic guideline is being able to do what you want to do, whether that be with skill or skill plus items. If you don't mind switching gear often that could mean saving the points for contests or specializing highly in a few skills (or one). If you prefer to change gear less or want to be sure you can do just about anything, you could spread the points around either as needed or evenly. Ultimately, all that matters is knowing what you want and spending your points accordingly.
Question - Is there any use for Rings besides getting more fate?
* Yes... and yet no at the same time. In certain contests, rings are used for the roll for your results in the competition; but not all contests do. Some use skills. Also, just like in the RPG with traits, there is a cap on how many dice your rings will let you roll and keep. So at a certain point it is usually somewhat pointless in raising your rings further for that purpose. There are benefits to having high fate though, so there are still reasons to keep doing raising them in general.
How does Seppuku / Death work in Emerald Empire? Do I get to carry anything over from my old character to a new one or any sort of benefit / compensation?
* Seppuku and death are rather simple; you kill your character with the action, get to write a haiku that appears in your character's entry under fallen champions (off the main page on Facebook), and that's it. Nothing is carried over to your new character, there are no benefits or anything else. Either is simply a way to start over on a new character. Really, as far as how you go about that is largely a matter of RP preference.
If I marry into another Clan, what happens? Do I have to join that Clan? CAN I join that Clan? If I switch Clans what happens to my character if anything?
* Marriage is a little more complicated than death in that it is multi-step. Anything before actually getting married will not effect you per say, anymore so than a normal mission at least. However, when you get married, that CAN change; but only if you wish it to. When you marry you get a follower representing your spouse and you are married. At that point they are simply a follower and you are still in your Clan with no added effects. You may go on at that point though to join your spouse's Clan with a separate mission. This will change your Clan and school, but nothing else; you will not lose any equipment or skill point. The only things lost are; the ability to equip things that required you to be your old Clan, and the ability to get double skill ups for you old school skills. On the other hand, you get the affinities of your new school, and will get a new set of skills that will work that way.
Is there any reason to RP on these forums? Does RP here dictate the story in the game? Are there any benefits to RP'ing here?
* Apart from a love of RP, there is no mechanical or game reason to RP here; there is no benefit to your in game character, and events in the game are not driven by the RP here. OCCASIONALLY there are stories that happen on the forums here that are turned into actions or events in the game (the summit at Kyuden Gotei, the Tower at the Forgotten Tomb of Fu Leng, the Ox Daimyo turning out to be a shapeshifter) but these instances are absolutely solely at Jay's discretion and in no way should one thing of it as anything else; Jay has a story already, we're just along for the ride here basically.
What is RP like on these forums? Is there any official storyline or GM's? How does one get these positions that show on these boards like Clan Champion? Are those positions official for in game?
* RP on these forums is simple non-GM'd RP; it follows the story line presented in the Emerald Empire interpretation of the history of the Empire. Nothing here from positions to actions 100% accurately represents how Clans act or what positions people are in game. Largely important Clan positions are based on in game xp/glory/honor, along side being active on the forums and at least more or less agreed upon by the other forum goers, especially your fellow Clan mates. Even after all that they are just RP positions, not official as I have said before. One last note; important story line positions are forbidden from being claimed on the forums; Jay already has plans for the Emperor, Shogun, Khan, Emerald Champion, Jade Champion, etc. More or less, anything higher than a Clan Champion is left to NPCs so Jay can keep them on the story track he has planned.
