Some time ago I came with idea of making a map based on html. Avaible maps aren't easy searchable, are unclear, very hard to modify and contain limited amount of information; but I want to change it.

Ok, a little about progress on my work.
Map is based on a 30x42 grid and informations combined from the Emerald Empire Facebook Game and a map from 4th Edition of Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying Game. It is written in XHTML 1.0 Transitional with CSS 2.0 and elements of JavaScript (I've used XHTML 1.0 Transitional because cells in Strict or any upper version have additional 1px of spacing between bottom border and image in the cell. I don't know how to get rid of it and I've been unable to find any working solution. If you know any, please tell me. I can also provide you with a list of attempts I've made).
On this point I have html file with 31x43 table with cells named from 10 to 52 and from 10 to 40 - it will give me possibility to add locations on the top and left side of the map without rewriting a whole code (I would use Java to automatize work, but it would suck anyway).
First cell in both cols and rows is a grid cell which determines size of other cells in this col or row by size of the image in a grid cell - this would allow me to scale map quickly; for now I plan to make two sizes of map (50x50 and 100x100px) and see how it would work.
Every other cell have image loaded as background; on this image I will mark locations' types, roads and everything that would be practical. In case of resizing the map I would just use a program to massive image size changing and resize all background images.
Some cells (location cells) have inputed text with the name of the location - text not only is visible above the images of background but also is searchable by built-in browser searcher (ctrl+f) and it will make searching of locations much easier.
The same cells have script which opens frame in new window by clicking on the cell. This window will contain informations about location - name, owner, type, connections, missions with requirements and drops, maybe description and image, maybe even more; you can close it by simple clicking on the window.
Now some questions for you:
1. What sizes of the cells would you like to see? I think that 100x100 could be use for detailed view and 50x50 (maybe even 40x40 or 30x30) for general recognition.
2. What information should be putted on the map (something more, something less)? As for now it would be:
- type of the location (temple, river, plains, battlefield, etc.)
- roads, seaports, courier posts (communication in general)
- lanscape (forest, mountains, ocean, plains, shadowlands)
I still thinking about adding those landscapes and would it darken map too much.
3. What information should be putted in windows (something more, something less)? As for now it would be:
- name of the location
- owner of the location in form of a name and mon (Clan, Nagas etc.)
- type of the location (castle, mountains, battlefield, port etc.)
- possible connections (name, direction, requirements)
- missions (name, requirements, cost, drops, tokens)
also may it would be (if you really like it):
- description from the Emerald Empire
- image from the Emerald Empire
- desription from the 4th ed. L5K Rulebook
4. Is closing a location window by clicking on it is a good idea? It would not disallow copying data and give ability to close window quickly without searching for X button but you may find some flaws and If so, I can make "close" button inside the window.
5. As for now my site isn't blind-user-friendly as it haven't proper descriptions of location cells and sites for windows (in code they aren't distinguished and have only numerical description). Do you think that I should add full descriptions (do we even have anyone blind on this forum?) or just skip that and focus on the clarity of the code?
