A courier arrived at Kyuden Isawa carrying a very large and ornate Scroll Case. The Case was Stained black Lacquered Wood, and the filigree was a vibrant Jade. The Seal was Green Wax, with a Spider Mon on it.
The Courier bears no sign or trace of the taint. he looks like a young Peasant boy, cleaned up and placed in wonderful robes. He is very eager to deliver the Scroll and be gone. Probably, due to the large sum of koku he was paid to deliver it.
Upon inspection of the Scroll case, no taint is present. Inside is a Scroll, with eloquent penmanship.

I hope that my letter finds you all well. I am Chuda Shoju, and I will be commanding the ground forces of the Spider at Toshi Ranbo in defense of The Son of Heaven. Let me first say that the announcement of your support to the True Son of Heaven is a wonderful development.
I understand the hesitation that you and many others like you hold towards the Spider. Our history is short, and checkered, and skepticism of our motives is understood. As some of the greatest Elemental Masters in the history of the Phoenix Clan can attest to, the Mark of the Shadowlands is a gift that not all can bear the weight of. That is why, when you look at the ranks of the Spider, not all of our order are blessed with the responsibility of the burden. In honor of your desires to help the Son of Heaven, I will understand if you wish to speak with those of the Spider who are free of this burden, or if you wish to speak to me in a place more advantageous to yourself.
I am currently awaiting acceptance of my pledge of support at a rise south west of Toshi Ranbo. When our pledge of support is validated, our plan is to take up a position closer to the western border of the City. With the Phoenix being naturally north of the Great City, My suggestion is that you fortify and defend the Northern border of the City.
As of yet, we are unclear on the motives of the Mantis and the Crane. It is our hope that they will see the logic of defending the Son of Heaven, and come to our aid. In this instance, we would suggest the Mantis Defend the East, and the Crane the South. Until we have further confirmation of their desires, it is our suggestion that the phoenix concentrate on the North and East Borders, while we will concetrate on the West and Southern borders.
It is my hope that when this conflict is complete, the Spider will find themselves on equal footing with the Great Clans of the Empire, and our checkered past will be at least being to be a fading memory.
