I lost myself in thoughts of how to resolve conflicts.
There will come a time that two characters will be facing each other, and all that would do is fight. Even for a good RP, this could be interesting. The reasons are many, are easily imaginable, but can become frustrating the inability to resolve these conflicts.
From this, many of the freedom of the game is hampered.
But first; let's accompany me in what I believe, this may cause.
Frustration - Kakita Duelist of keeping the zero duels records, and the Hida Berserker which shakes the clear tetsubo. Not only their skills are unique as they are totally useless. No one ever needs a Yojimbo, a champion or something. They can't do a thing with their supposed abilities. Without being, of course, talking about them. And talk more about them. And more. o.o
Impunity - Let's get naked in court. What's the worst that can happen? (I think I made myself clear)
Animosity - This is a bit more complicated. It comes from the behavior go unpunished, or the frustration of not being able to do anything about it. So, instead of character to attack character, the player ends up "attacking" player, saying things like "you can not do this / not playing right" among other things.
Boredom - This may or may not happen, but once colleagues from forum get irritated, or when a topic is closed, or worse, when he is packed with OOC to me, the fun ends and boredom begins.
It may seem mandatory, but we are not obliged to live with it. We can find many ways, not only to resolve conflicts, make the game more exciting, a more attractive scenery and also have so much fun. Someone accepts popcorn to watch the Iaijutsu Showdown?
I thought a few minimal pre-requisites necessary so we could go for a quick and easy way to solve the problems, much like the cut of a katana.
1. Fraternity - We are all players, none of us have the right to have fun at others' expense.
2. Maturity - Losing a character is usually annoying. Common sense is always needed. If any doubt remains if one can not / want not to lose the character, stay away from fights.
3. Balance - Rules must be crystal clear to both of the two would-be fighters. In order to function they need to accept the rules, understand them and let them regulate the outcome of the fight. This can be done in many ways. As poll voting, as comparisons of statistical character data and with use of dice simulators online ... I can, if necessary, find and display options. But, no matter the method chosen, once chosen by both, this must be respected.
4. Respect - Nobody should be forced to face stress at leisure, and we must ask if this is to improve the game for fun or to raise tensions. So, insight is welcome.
So, in the end, the only thing that I can do to make a point is to "walk the talk". If anyone is interested, just want to test or you feel like drawing the katana. PM me.
