Mikado excused herself glancing at the departing Hitoshi. An inner sadness overwhelmed her as all she had witnessed was death and now him going over to a difficult mission from which only heroes stay alive. As she entered the daimyo's tent she happened to hear the last words of the wounded woman she didn't know. She saw that the daimyo was present and Mitsouko was a woman of dignity, poise and all in all a forgiving person. Mikado did not wish to see one more death coming and Mitsouko's honor being put at the fore she decided that she'd not barge in. Mikado would speak after the Kakita daiymo...

OOC: Let us remember that when I type these things at midnight I often get confused about sama and san and will forget to add them (that and rolling blackouts in Houston keep reverting my word documents)! I'll leave it though, as homage to Ayumi distracting me!
...don't beat me up!

Mitsouko contained the laugh with the outcoming of the tea, putting in her feet again, at the same time she took acknowledge of Sojiro-san arrival. A bit injured, but already captured and “amended” by the zealous Miga-san: Infirmaries are indeed strange places, where many odd and interesting things use to happen, neh? Sojiro-san, you are late for the tea, sorry. Then, turning to the woman: Ayumi-san, listen to this man's words. Not many days left for Bon Odori and us, prevented to honor them properly. It was not intention of us, Crane, disgrace honored Ancestors. I mean, when a father makes a promise and offer a child to pacify the land, for instance, we would never defy this action. Our ancestors can come back to remember us all what we owe to them. It’s not Crane way to insult ancestors of anyone else, at least, honored ancestors like yours…or in the example I gave, Toturi’s. So listen to our words, we meant to get peace and reason.
Mitsouko looked at the shugenja that turned to be too compassionate and now, had a Lion woman to deal with: And well, Yuuto-san, you showed to be victim of your own benevolence...and maybe, you came to the thought an infirmary equals all of us. I accept your apologies if you think your tongue is a bit numb today. The Kakita daimyo glanced him with a light reprimand, raising an eyebrow, but she noticed the man was weary and somehow, apprehensive about the whole situation. Was him a little confused and suffering of pain? Yuuto-san, please, continue treating her. And please, Ayume-san, stay with the Crane tea, I have my own sword if needed, but thank you anyway. You can realize we aren’t as traditional as we should do; about hosts for tea and war hostages, I mean. You have tea, but if you prefer we can provide an kurushimeru eta. Our clan have both ‘entertainments’. Like says Yuuto-san, you honor us and yourself with honesty, then we honor you with healing and kindness. Then, Mitsouko glanced again to the duelist: And you Sojiro-san... A better look at his appearance didn't make her feel comfortable to commenting about it: Good to see you.

Yuuto's eyes steamed white as Ayumi's words cut cleanly, his concentration cooling the air from further whipping up of a firestorm,"has the girl really struck such a chord with me that I forget myself," he thought. His back remaining his presentation to the assembled, "perhaps I have become too comfortable and complacent Mitsouko-sama, and fear my value to you may be coming to an end. I did not mean any disrespect, but continue to dishonor myself today."
Ayumi continues to inch closer, as her limps stammer her statements, Yuuto casually pivoting around to face her with his now milky eyes, "if that is what you understand, you may find a blade hanging above one of the doors," a light gale encircling the two as it unsettled their onyx and ivory hair, "but I caution you about your stichings, and the walk to the ramparts can be quite surreal."
He approvingly pats the new arrival on the shoulder, the distortion's on Miga's face now dispelled, as he glides from sight.
OOC: Do I need to put family names in as well? I sort of understand the whole sama and san thing, but I've been writing dialogue from a Western perspective and I've been avoiding family names if it does not help the speech "flow"

OCC: Being strictly formal, yes, but just "first name-san/sama" or "family name-san/sama" is right too. Will post soon 'A Rokugani honorifics guide' to help. We know sometimes people are not used to this little etiquette rules. It gave us an interesting scene, however.

Sojiro couldn't help but smile at Mitsouko's words, and the unspoken message behind them. "Thank you for your kind words, Mitsouko-sama, but I imagine seeing me would be more pleasant if I did not look and smell like a drowned rat at the moment. I apologize for the tardiness of my arrival, but the Lion clan's assault was somewhat distracting, and I was caught up in the fighting at the front. After having my wound tended to, I spent the day trying to find you." His grin widened a bit. "You are a very difficult person to track down, Mitsouko-sama, but it seems that I have finally found you. Your responsibilities keep you very busy." His gaze turned to Ayumi. "My lady, may I have the honor of knowing your name, so that I may address you properly?"

Ayumi was standing still from the beginning of Kakita-sama speech. She relaxed a bit hearing Kakita-sama forgave Yuuto-san. About the rest… she didn’t expect that. Eta… She flinched unconsciously. Maybe Mitsouko-sama was just shooting blindly waiting for her reaction? Low chances. She wouldn’t suggest something like that if she wasn’t sure. Probably. Ayumi was thinking about any solution but was it because of the tea or still not healed wounds she felt dazed. She couldn’t think clearly. There weren't many things she could do, for now maintaining face should be enough.
I said about duel, Asahina-san. I didn’t mean to slaughter you here. Nor in any other place.
She turned to Sojiro-san. I don’t think it is possible, Kakita-san. If I am to be hostage now it will probably be better if the enemies don’t know my name. I used name Ayumi while being in this camp and till now it served me well. And I’m not a lady.
She grinned wildly looking at Mitsouko-sama. I have never had occasion to test Cranes entertainments, it would be a waste to lose such opportunity. She behaved as if thinking deeply about both options I think I would prefer tea from eta. It smells better. But there can be problem with honesty. How would you know if what I am saying is true? She was really interested in their answer.

Feeling his Dragon clan heritage from his mother being drawn out by Ayumi's curious words, Sojiro returned her smile with the smirk he usually reserved for his appearances in court. Somehow, even through the pain in his arm and his soaking wet appearance, he managed to look the part of the sophisticated courier whenever he adopted his courtly manner. It was something that just came naturally to him.
"Ayumi-Sama it is, then. As for you not being a lady, I hope you don't take offense if I reserve the right to judge that for myself. Ladies come in many varieties, Ayumi-Sama - many would claim that my betrothed does not always behave in the way a lady should, and I would certainly take offense if they said so within my ear shot, for I know her better than they do." He stroked his chin thoughtfully, keeping the smirk on his face as he did so. "As for your question about honesty, please allow me to answer your question with one of my own, Ayumi-Sama. Why would we feel the need to doubt you? And also, why would we feel the need to hold you prisoner?" His smirk became a full smile again as the eyebrow above his left eye lifted slightly. "Think carefully on the answer to these two questions, Ayumi-Sama. I believe that you will find that the answers to both questions are the same. Two questions having the same answer, regardless of what you decide your answer to them will be."
His smile vanished, replaced by a thoughtful expression, almost a frown. "I have always found that tea never tastes quite right during times of war, whether it comes from Eta or from Crane. War does strange things to our perception of the things we enjoy, Ayumi-Sama. And to our perceptions of many other things, I believe. But the truth is, nothing has changed about the tea, or about the other things around us. The only thing that has changed," he tapped the side of his head, "is this, and how we are using it."
"Mitsouko-Sama, I did have something I wished to discuss with you, if you have the time to listen to one of my rank." He tilted his head towards the entrance slightly.

I don’t know why a person wishes to be treated as “Ayumi-san”, if it’s not its name. I don’t know what a person requires respect when tries to fool us and refuses to say its proper name. But again, it's your choice how you wish to be treated. I am a bushi as well, and a lady. I don't have need to be mistaken for a man. But don’t be sad, if you say your name, when Lion send an ambassador to us, we will negotiate your return. I will not disrespect the hard work of the Asahina Yuuto to cure you. Just hope you, also, respect our compassion. And enjoy the tea.
Saying that, Mitsouko turned to leave the infirmary; nodding to Sojiro to follow her. Already off the building, the Kakita daimyo stretched the hand to see the pouring rain in her palm, for a second. It smells of blood and steel. “Uhn well, I just hope Yuuto-san have wisdom to deal with this woman…” Then, reminding of an urgent task with few skilled persons to perform it, she spoke to the Kakita man at her side: Sojiro-san, are you well enough to follow with Hitoshi-san in a rescue mission?

Mitsouko's request caught Sojiro by surprise - he had not expected to be sent on a mission away from Toshi Ranbo.
"I believe I am, Mitsouko-Sama. Miga-San's attentions were harsh, but after the first few moments, the pain began to ease off. I can accompany Hitoshi-San, if that is what you need from me. But before I depart, I wish to bring two things to your attention, Mitsouko-Sama." He shifted his weight slightly, than began again. "We are sorely outnumbered right now. Fighting the way we are, it is unrealistic to think that we will win this battle - but that is because we are fighting on the enemy's terms, in the manner they wish to fight us. They desire a direct contest of our numbers against theirs, and they have had us on the defensive for almost the entire battle." His eyes met Mitsouko's for a second, and she could see the fire he held there, the belief in what he was about to say. "Mitsouko-Sama, I humbly suggest that we stop fighting the way the Lion expects us to fight. I suggest that, instead of only defending the city, we also attack a vital point - the food and supplies stored in the Lion main camp." He took a breath, and then continued. "A fire attack. Even in this weather, if our Shugenja use the wind to spread the flames from fire arrows, their supplies will burn like kindling, because they must be kept dry or they will be ruined."
"The Lion have brought a massive army against us. But the bigger an army is, the more food, medicine, and other supplies they need to function. The enemy has already had issues with their supply lines. I propose that we wipe out the stores of food they have in their camp, and at the same time have our allies send forces to strangle their supply lines to Toshi Ranbo completely. Most likely the Dragon clan forces, as I believe they are closest right now." His eyes continued to show that internal fire as he spoke. "It doesn't matter if they outnumber us 5 to 1, Mitsouko-Sama. The traitorous bastards still have to eat. If they can't eat, they won't be able to fight. With the attack on Toshi Ranbo Broken, and with the Emerald Champion and Dragon forces moving to attack the Lion, we may be able to turn the tide of this war."
Suddenly, Sojiro realized that he was staring his Daimyo in the eyes as he spoke. He quickly bowed, nearly touching his face to the soaking ground as he did so. "Forgive my directness, Mitsouko-Sama. It seems I have gotten carried away in my desire to share this idea with you, and have forgotten propriety. My plan is based on what I know of our current situation. Doubtless, you have a better understanding of our tactical situation than I do."

‘And that is exactly why I can’t tell you my name’ she thought when Mitsouko-sama said about hostage release negotiation. ‘Isn’t it obvious?’ Mitsouko-sama and Sojiro-san left. She was alone. Accept of a few wounded and women treating them. Well, not few, there were in fact quite many of them. Pierced with arrows, cut with swords, wounded with magic. She knew some of them will die. There is just no possibility to survive with so much damage taken. And for some… she wished to die. For their own good. Sometimes death is better. She looked around. Nobody paid attention to her. It would be so easy to just walk away. And Yuuto-san said there is a sword behind that door. She wasn’t in the best condition but much of her behavior was a pose. The pain wasn’t so bad, she was used to worse. If there really are nobody to guard her, she couldn’t lose such opportunity. As she took first step towards the exit, she felt excruciating pain in her guts. Groan of pain came from her mouth. ‘Not again. Why now?’ Ayumi stepped back and sat on her bed. She drank rest of the tea Yuuto-san pour her at once, hoping it will work and laid down trying to minimize the pain. ‘He was right it tastes different’ was her last thought. The medicine began to work.

OOC Gah! had to modify my last post after I realized that I hadn't mentioned the Dragon clan troops like I intended to, and just kept referring to The emerald Champion over and over. A fine example of why you shouldn't stay up all night and then reply to something ICly without any sleep

*Banner of Kakita Shireikan flies in the wind, as command group of Kakita army returns from fields in the evening... The group is now smaller, Kakita Alesha is missing one of the famous wings on his helmet, as they dismount in courtyard. Seems that at least some of them are wounded.* - Tend to the wounded... - Alesha commands to one of the shugenja he meets in his way, two taisa's following him and a nikutai assistant moves to take his helm. - Lions pretending to be unicorns, now... Thank kami their ride reminds of cow on frozen river, just like their dueling. Bring the heads of Lion commanders to display for our Lady, the day went well.
