The salty air of the docks rung fresh in Kanreida's nostrils as he stepped ashore. The Captain of the boat he had come from cleared his throat. Kanreida gave a scratchy laugh, rolled his eyes and tossed a small purse of coins. The Captain weighed it, bit one, grunted and turned to securing a rope, no further time for his passenger. Kanreida nodded. The man probably thought of him just as more annoying than usual cargo. As it should be! He wouldn't be remembered.
He walked down the dock his narrow eyes taking in all around him. He enjoyed the feel of the wood of the old docks creaking under his sandaled feet. Ah yes, Kyuden Gotei, he knew it well.
"I wonder what this great city has for me today?" he asked to a seagull as it sat on a post eating a crab. He had been here many times before, but always there was a surprise for him.

The heat on the Mantis islands was uncommon for this time of year, however this didn't stop Kage from enjoying the feeling of the sun on his face. Kage made it a point during the day to be by the docks towards first light and twilight. That is when all the visitors arrived to Kyuden Gotei. Here in the past week or so very few visitors had arrived. This was of course due to the civil war going on mainland. Kage picked up his last piece of Unagi Sushi between his chop sticks and tossed it into his mouth as he observed the visitor. "A Kasuga arrives today perhaps he has news from the mainland."
Kage finished his plum sake and rose brushing himself clean and strolled over to the visitor. He left some gold as payment for his expensive yet delicious breakfast. Kage stood at avergae height but dressed like a man of wealth and exotic taste. His Kimono was a cascade of different shades of green from dark to light with gold embroidery. His Daisho was at his side and was well maintained. His hair had a shine to it in the morning light, obviously well oiled and kept as is custom to some in the islands. He smelled of sandalwood and cloves as he approached Kanreida. He had a smile on his face only one who truely enjoyed life would have or someone who knew to wear such a face many times for business. "Welcome to paradise friend, I am Yoritomo Kage humble courtier and merchant of the Mantis. What brings you to our islands today and what news do you bring of the war?" Kage held his hands outward and palms up as a gesture of peace and non hostility, he then bowed to the guest before him still smiling.

"Kage-san!" Kanreida smiled, spat, hitched his belt up, and gave a perfunctory bow. "Paradise indeed, as I've always found on my visits here" He continued to walk along the dock, as if testing the springy boards with his sandals. "Plenty of news, plenty of news - perhaps your master would like to hear it over tea, tonight? Is he free, do you think? I brought some sake from my cousin's brewery in Kyuden Kasuga, I would like to be able to give it to him in person"
