((OOC: A comment guys. Doji Mikado was assigned as the court attendant of Asahina Yukihime, providing assistance in diplomatic matters where needed. Now, if Yukihime-sama had decided to "officially" move to Kyuden Doji, Mikado would've been here as well. Mikado is bound to be located where Yukihime is "officially". That is when not using her teleportation skills. By the way I see this, Mikado must be in Kyuden Doji. It is up to Yukihime to say. I was planning to introduce her in the scene, but her answer can change this ))

This post is not meant to distract or divert any individual from playing and please consider that it takes place in a rather "vague" time, which means that whoever participates in the plot hook WON'T need to abandon this thread. Hell, I even intend to participate here asap.))During the nighttime, as the noble samurais in Kyuden Doji took fine rest, a servant was scurriedly visiting them in order to ask them should they needed anything, only to be coincided by Kakita Komoko's arrival, the artisan singer of the Doji daimyo. She bore the following message."Noble san, I deeply regret to have distracted you from good night's sleep but your presence is required immediately. Please proceed in short time to the chamber of incense, carry the following message as an allowance to the daimyo's guards to pass. With the daimyo's condolences, Doji Naetaru." ((OOC: The following message was to be delivered to the heroes that resided in Kyuden Doji (that is to every player who is located here and wishes to join.)) and those that were to the daimyo's knowledge were: Kakita Hitoshi Mirumoto Saiko Kakita Sojiro Asahina Yuuto
If storywise your character is to be located in the Seawatch Castle Siege please feel free to disregard the summons as it takes place around this timeline. And once again I deeply stress that EVERYONE can join if legally located in Kyuden Doji. Please PM me a bit regarding the participation. Posting as Doji Hotaru Hotaru found no need to interrupt the bushi talk. Yet she heard it long enough to figure the situation. It would be great if the Crane could avoid Seawatch Castle of having the same destiny of Lonely Shore City. For if it does, may be Hotaru would change her mind about the safety of Kyuden Doji. Kaori have being questioning it poignantly. But the Daimyo sounded clear. Hotaru allowed herself a lil smile over the thoughts o the now solved issue. She looked around, samurais gathering and nice music in a neatly decorated room, she was enjoying her lonely freedom for a while. ((OOC: Yukihime is, indeed, in Kyuden Otomo. Mikado will probably get bored as Yukihime is inclined to avoid courts. Do you want to bring Mikado here? Seems like Kyuden Doji court is more busy and interesting than Kyuden Otomo one right now Yuki can give her a task here, unless Mikado would rather have fun Yukihime way... meditating all winter (hum... I don't think so) ))

A week had passed since the heroes were dispatched on the rescue mission and Naetaru had to deal with the everyday life of the court matters as well as the rest administrative daimyo duties. He had to attend to the gempukku ceremonies of both Doji schools, courtier and magistrate, had to deal with the official Clan correspondence, have audience with dignitaries and mostly trying to forget all the shady events that besmirched the serenity and tripped the stability off the Crane provinces.
Right now the Crane Clan had to deal with many forms of negotiations especially the ones concerning the Siege of Seawatch Castle.
On a personal level Naetaru had found some form of tranquility in the company of both his Kakita attache and his yojimbo friend. Thus he was slowly setting the loss of his wife aside. All those days would prominent court members lobby for Naetaru to have a small talk or even a stroll in the gardens with many a Crane maiden. However, Naetaru wasn't thinking of the matter at all. He was a widower and what he needed the most was a small solace to mourn his wife in respect and given his duties this solace was to be found in time... During this week, Scorpion guests began to arrive as a response to Doji Kaori's invitation. The cousin Clan to the heir of the Crane was allowed to visit and discuss any further issue regarding the heir's bright future. A day before his sister Mikado had arrived and more than happily he accepted her in his retinue as his very best and trusted advisor.
It was a perfect sunny day, with the casual chill of the oncoming cold winter. The birds were chirping merrily on the garden trees, and Naetaru was entering the main court chamber. A new day was beggining.
((OOC: Given the circumstances, my character is highly unlikely to involve himself actively in a non-court storyline scene. Whomever wishes, we can roleplay into a new possible plot hook. No need for "hellos" and "pleasantries". Let's enter to the point.))

A scroll is left with a guard at the gates of Kyuden Doji, addressed to Kakita Sojiro. If opened, it would read,
Sojiro-san,
I am letting you know that, upon completion of my mission for Naetaru-dono, I am returning to my homelands to allow my wounds some time to heal. I expect I will see you in Winter Court. Safe travels, sensei.

Doji Mikado sat quietly in one of the gardens, breathing in the scent of the evening air. Her hands played absently with a letter that had been delivered just under a week ago, and after a short period she opened it and read it once again.
Mikado-chan,
It pains me greatly to return to Kyuden Doji and not be able to see you, but I must leave again immediately on a matter of great urgency.
You will remember our farewells after I was assigned to accompany Mitsouko-sama to help relieve the siege at Seawatch Castle. I hope that in the forthcoming days you will hold onto those memories and cherish them as I do.
It is difficult for me to write these words, but I can conceal nothing from you and I know that you will be discrete until they become public knowledge. We were betrayed. The Shireikan of the First Kakita Legion, Alesha, was the architect of our downfall. Mitsouko-sama was taken by the Mantis and a great evil now roams our lands.
It is this evil that I go to confront. Do not worry, my love; I take with me veteran Daidoji troops and a large contingent of shugenja. There are also many bushi at Seawatch itself, so I shall be in the best of company. Despite this, the opposition ranged against us is formidable. If I should not return, keep me in your heart as you shall live forever in mine.
I am sorry to write in such haste, and with so little eloquence. I pray to the kami that it is not long before I feel your lips upon mine once again.
Yours always, Kakita Hitoshi
She had received no word since then. A single tear ran down her cheek and joined the other marks upon the page before she composed herself and folded the letter away again, returning to join her brother within the palace.

Doji Mikado had managed to arrive on time to court and Doji Naetaru would notice that she was pre-occupied with thoughts. Given the love he harboured for her, he approached her and serenely spoke softly to her ear.
"Mikado-chan, your thoughts seem to wander off, somewhere else. I trust that it is not in my powers to help you, soothe your worries, hai?"
He looked at her with worry, for all that he needed right now was a "wounded" sister.
"Hai Naetaru-kun" she said gingerly.
He smiled, nodded to her respectfully and left. Everything had been said.

Time passed and Naetaru was having some idle time in Kyuden Doji pampering to courtly and fashion needs. One day he was strolling the Fantastic Gardens with his retinue. He was accompanied by his recent Kakita aide and his Daidoji bodyguard and they found themselves in the main square of the Plum Grove.
Naetaru normally would've exclaimed in awe. He however retained his seriousness. His soul had been recently forged in the fires of sadness.
"Samas, is it just me, or is this statue in a derelict state?" pointing over to a statue erected by the personal funds of Doji Kaori, the ex-Champion's wife.
"Hai it is sama" exclaimed the Kakita. "Shall we have it removed?" she carried on.
"Not removed, replaced!" he couldn't keep but exclaim.
"Thus I expect you Kakita-san to extend an open invitation to one of our cousins, the Kakita. I am aware that the mastersmith of metal, Kakita Batuu resides near the artisan's retreat over to Shizuka Toshi's mountains. His presence is needed at court."
"Hai Doji-sama" she said and she quickly made a mental note over it.
Moments later she was arranging a palanquin escort for a visit to Kakita Batuu, along with the assurance of a safe retinue.

As the palanquin arrives, they hear a hushed silence, and, then, suddenly a yell splits the air. It is a yell uncharacteristic of the forges here, but rather something that one might hear in a dojo and it is followed by a polite clapping sound, nothing too loud, as if from a small group.
The palanquin turns the corner going into the back area where there was a small crowd of servants and smiths present, all wearing crane colors, indeed it was almost unheard of for non-cranes to be allowed into this sanctuary for various reasons, but mostly because this area was where the sacred weapons of the Kakita family were made, crafted, from prayer, and hard work. Each blade was blessed and each blade was made from the finest steel that the Kakita were able to procure, and it was always the best steel available.
The crowd hushes again, as if standing in anticipation of something. And as the palanquin reaches the back of them, some of the servants, confused by the sudden entrance, bow and move to the side, and begin speaking in short tones, begging pardon for being in the way. The murmuring spreads through the crowd as the palanquin does, and when it reaches the front it is plain to see what was happening here.
Kakita Battou, a swordsman and swordsmith of some talent was standing on a pedastal in front of the very mountain rock that surrounded this small enclosed shrine. A small chunk of the mountain lay before him, cut neatly as if in one fell stroke from a blade. And in his hands there was such a blade, a newly crafted Kakita Blade, shimmering with the faint blue light that these things often did. He turned to face the palanquin, having obviously been about to strike the mountain for a second time to prove, as with all these blades, that his was as superior as they all must be.
He quickly scanned the servants and palanquins adornments, looking for the placement of mon that would indicate which family was upon him, and having seen what he was looking for he spoke:
"Ahhh, Doji-san, have you come to see my fine work be tested? I've just finished this one *he lifted the sword momentarily to indicate it* and was just concluding our ritualistic methods. And I must say it was a success.
He was practically beaming with glee at the success of the sword and he still had no idea of whom he was addressing.

As the palanquin's drapes lifted over, Doji Mikado's slender figure, accompanied by Kakita Tomoko's one became apparent. Both courtier ladies smiled in reverence as they stood and bowed in reverence. However Mikado simply extended the open letter of invitation from the Doji lord. She handed Battou the scroll and they both remained bowed and silent. Moments were passing and once the deed of delivering the message was done, both of the ladies smiled once more and they closed the drapes.
There was nothing ritualistic in this...
In this revered place in the Empire, were art met with a soul's devotion, no mere mortal voice was proper to be heard except the artisan ones. The hum of the forging Kakita metal was to be tempered by a Kakita artisan's voice and its hum would only echo the family's unique melody. Other than that, no worthy soul from heimin to a daimyo would ever walk or speak in these halls.

Quicker than most eyes would be able to follow, Kakita Battou sheared another piece of rock from the mountain side with the kakita blade. It was clear that the sword had been a success; as the separated chunk hit the ground with a small crash.
In a similar all too quick manner, Battou had moved to the palanquin. Having sheathed the katana and having taken the letter in one hand, the other was used to pull open the drapes of the palanquin and poke his head in.
"Ladies, the ceremony is over, surely we can talk for a moment. Please, allow me to introduce myself. Kakita Battou, smith and duelist, at your service."
He bowed, graceful despite the rapidity with which it was executed. And he smiled with that smile that had won many ladies over to him.
"You must honor me with your names at the very least."
