(This is a rp meant for no one. I'm setting up who Quarim is. The following takes place in the Burning Sands. Enjoy.)
Quarim casually walked down the streets of Medinaat al-Salaam. His silk crimson robes let everyone know he was a person of wealth. And as such he knew how to make himself seem like he had no interests beyond his own selfishness. He bought some jewels, a new robe, some shoes. All just a distraction as he made his way to his goal. A small building laid out amongst others just like it.
Inside a few men sat around an smoked various drugs from hookas. Anyone would believe he was here to enjoy himself in a similar manner. He paid for a private room and went upstairs. Three other men were in the room when he arrived.
An older thin man spoke first. "Ah, Quarim. You have joined us. What news do you bring?"
"It is approved. The Houses of Dahab have seen fit to allow me the honor to represent our interests in Rokugan. I leave tomorrow."
The other two men were large and muscular. Being twins they looked exactly alike. But only one ever spoke. "This is perfect. Finally after all these years The Qolat will successfully bring the Empire to it's knees."
"Don't be a fool." The first man said. "Getting one ambassador through the gate does not equal victory."
"Indeed. I'll be in touch." Quarim held up a small crystal.
"Wait." The first man stopped Quarim as he was about to leave. "When you get there seek out the Scorpion Bayushi Hiryu. He is one of the last known Masters in Rokugan. If anyone can help steer your path it will be him."
Quarim nodded and left.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was the middle of the night as Quarim prowled down the back alleys and side streets. He wore a hooded robe and turban to hide his identity. He found the house he was seeking. Two guards allowed him through the door. He enter an extravagant house full of wealth. He zipped right through the hallways knowing exactly where the person he sought was.
He entered a bedroom (one of many in this house) and saw a fat man with two women laying naked on the bed. The fat man dismissed the women immediately.
"How like you to be laying down on the job, Rajesh. Get some clothes on and take me to him."
The fat man, Rajesh, quickly dressed and lead Quarim to a cellar. There a skinny man waited patiently.
The disgust for this man tried Quarim's patience. He wanted nothing more than to kill him. But his usefulness kept him alive. "Tell me Jackal, what news from the spy? What have his dreams told you recently."
The Jackal looked pitiful. His words slurred from lack of drink. "He is dead. I know not how. His last dreams he was met by another Dreamwalker. Then he went to visit the Scorpion woman again. They talked about the jinn but she still does not know of it's location."
"Then your plan to bring that barbarian back from the grave failed. I should have expected nothing less from you."
"It was not a complete failure." The man began to panic and search for excuses. "He helped your merchants as you asked. And help secure your trade agreement. And he delayed the Emerald Champion helping you start the war you wanted. And even supplied weapons to the Yobajin. He was a great asset."
"Perhaps you are right. But that makes no difference now. I cannot allow a Jackal to live."
Panic filled the mans eyes. "B-But you promised you would set me free if I helped you."
"Yes I did. But I am not a man of honor." Quarim stabbed the Jackal in the belly with a knife. "Rajesh, you have done well. I leave my estate in your hands while I am away. Do not disappoint me."
"Yes of course. I will make sure you turn quite the profit. You have nothing to fear."
"I have much to fear, Rajesh. I set off for an unknown land with no allies and many who will wish me dead."
"Then why go?"
"Because there is wealth and vengeance. And I desire nothing more than those two things."
