He was lost, swimming through a sea of inky black. This was strange, more so than he ever had encountered in his journeys. A presence was ahead; was it a gate? He will himself towards the beacon of hope in the shadows, and he was falling...
Saiko awoke with a start. He looked around, reaching for his daisho as he realized that he did not recognize where he was, but it was not there. He sprang to his feet, clad only in a dark green hakama, no other clothes in his room. He took in his surroundings; a small window was letting in light, but it was not... what it should be. It seemed wrong to him. Is this still a vision?, he thought to himself. He walked across the shadowed room and opened the door; it was eerily quiet.
The dragon walked out into the hallway, and leaped back in surprise as he almost collided with a dark-clad courtier, but stopped when the man simply walked through him. He nodded; it was still a vision. He walked down the hallway, inexplicably drawn by an unseen force. He was assailed by strange smells and sounds as he approached what seemed to be an audience chamber of some kind. The voices were strangely muffled though, as if heard from underwater, and Saiko's curiosity got the better of him. He was not prepared for what he came upon...
He had been correct, it was an audience chamber. But as he entered the Dark Court of Daigotsu, he almost cried out in rage at this mockery of everything he held dear. He composed himself after a moment; he was an observer here, nothing more, and this was a rare opportunity to gain some eyes in the very heart of evil.
His eyes were drawn to the Dark Lord of the Spider, who was at that very moment addressing a bowed samurai. The whole court of the Lost, it seemed, were focused on this man, and as Saiko strained his ears the words of Daigotsu started to become clear to him. "... that by making this oath, you forsake any ties to your old clan and family, swearing fealty only to me. What say you?" The bowed samurai rose his head, and Saiko's gut froze. It cannot be...
The dark samurai responded, and then there was no doubt in the young Dragon's mind; this was real. "I do, my lord. The Empire has failed, and only by following your true rule can we return it to its former glory. I forsake all ties to my former life, and I am yours to command." A cold smile split his face, his pale green eyes dead and frozen, completely devoid of the fire that once was there.
"Then rise, Daigotsu Saiko, and take your place amongst my armies..." Saiko could feel himself falling, the world fading around him as he watched himself be consumed by darkness, and he knew no more.
