Riku's knee joints bled as he carried Senshi all the way to the gates of Kyuden Bayushi. Senshi's concern for his wife's beloved horse was the only thing keeping his mind off of getting to Haruka as quickly as he could.
This much worry would destroy a lesser mind, he thought. But he knew that lower beings never dealt with anywhere near as much stress as he had suffered as a champion. Shoju's past was evidence of it. The former scorpion was clearly deranged now, with no hope of actual salvation.
Senshi dismounted and transfered the horse to the care of the guard captain, "Take this horse directly to my wife's stables." He didn't wait for an acknowledgement, he sprinted. Running directly to the same location. He had no time to waste, and this hurdle was going to be particularly difficult.
Within moments, Senshi was on his rump outside in the early hours of the morning, staring at the angriest battle steed he had ever seen. Rin was staring pure murder and venom at Senshi.
"You make for an excellent Scorpion, Rin-san. But I do not have time for this!" He got up, and this time turned his back on Rin, backing up slowly. Rin snorted in derision, turned her own back, and promptly kicked Senshi again. Senshi landed on his face, snarling.
Rin stood over him, hoofing the ground maliciously. When she bobbed her head low enough, Senshi shot his hand out and grabbed her reins, "Haruka is in trouble. Do you hear me, Rin? I will do anything, sacrifice anything, to get to her. I need your help. No other beast will do." Rin shot a hateful eye away from Senshi, then watched in surprise as Riku was brought in by the guard captain. The guard stood there in awe of Senshi prostrated below a horse, but he quickly recovered, and having delivered Riku, went back to his duties.
Rin tried to step over to see her mate who had collapsed in exhaustion as soon as he had made it home. Senshi pulled her reins sharply back to him as he looked up into her big eye. Then he whispered very clearly, "He made that sacrifice. Not me. I sacrificed something far more dear... Now help me find her." The last part came out strained and he choked back his own despair a he said it. Seething all the anger for his situation that he could.
A moment passed as Senshi just stared at her, a fire alight in his eyes. Rin stared back, and for a moment they had become kindred spirits. Two tortured anguished beings with a love for one woman who need them, and both with the same look in their eyes.
Then Rin looked away and blinked, and slowly backed away from Senshi. He stood, and calmly mounted Rin. The horse passed a glance at Riku, and Senshi nodded his head to the incredible steed. Then Rin was off, galloping to the city gates, and on to the City of Lies.
