The Festering Pit of Fu Leng
The putrid smog rose off the waters of the area known as the Festering Pit of Fu Leng. It began as a quite night like many others. The sounds that permeated the Shadowlands hung in the air. Growls and screams in the distance. The wind began to pick up as storm clouds moved in.
Thunder sounded. The cloud lit up but no lightning found it's way to the earth just yet. Then the wind began. The smog blew but the current was an unnatural one. It created a funnel. A tornado formed. The wind and water meeting in a cyclone of destruction. Then the lightning struck. Wind, Water, Fire, and beneath them Earth. All the elements together.
The Festering Pit had always been a gateway from Jigoku into Ningen-do. But the spirit that now crossed into the earthly realm was not from Jigoku. It was bound to Ningen-do and unable to ever move on. It's own lack of substance was the last key needed for the ritual: Void.
The five Rings combined. The result was an explosion. None were around to witness it. But those sensitive to Void could feel it across all of Rokugan. Sprinkles was alive!

Castle of the Swift Sword
Another day of fighting. The thought lingered inside Shizuku's mind as she and the rest of the Tamori house guard engaged another unit of Lions. The thought had remained as the war continued day in and day out for several months already. Then today, on just another day, that thought almost killed her.
The evil wave spread out over and across the battlefield. It made Shizuku weak. Nauseous. Distracted. She fell on all fours and vomitted on the ground. The Lion she was dueling, seemingly crazed by the energy, grinned and loomed over her. His katana ready to strike down on her open neck.
She readied herself for her death. Yet instead she felt heat. Scorching heat. It flowed over her, a flame raging with energy. The torrent of fire struck the Lion, flinging him away from the still crouched shugenja.
"Gather close to me." The Tamori daimyo stood a few paces away from Shizuku, the Agasha katana pointing to the charred armor that was once a Lion. The Tamori house guard hustled to obey.
Koichi uttered a spell. A barrier began to form around him and the group. Any Lion who attempted to break through was incinerated. The Tamori daimyo maintained the spell until he was sure that the wave had disspelled already.
"My Lord.. what was that?" Shizuku dared to ask as she gathered her strength to stand again. The barrier slowly faded around them.
Koichi did not answer immediately. He knew what it was. It held the same malevolence when the Tamori daimyo had first encountered it in the Bloom of the White Orchid competition. I should have finished it then. Damn those Phoenix. Now it was stronger. More sinister than ever.
"EVIL, Shizuku. IT is pure evil."
