The chamber was dark. The only light was the natural light filtered in from the twilight from the outside night. The sweet and tangy of smell of incense fill the room to form a wall to anyone who entered. The room itself was not that big, fitting only a handful of people at most, which made the dominating statue feel much larger. One thing that made the chamber unique was it was shaped from the roots of a large tree.
The statue was of a beautiful woman of petite frame. The woman had a foxish grin and held her hands outward. She was mostly made of silvery materials keeping a pale complexion about her and an almost glow in the moon light. A pair of large amber colored stones was set in her eyes. From behind her sprouted what identified her as the Kitsune Patron, ten fox tails.
In front of her was a brazier that held a pair of incense sticks that slowly burned, their smoke lazily rising and filling the room. In front of the brazier knelt Kitsune Daichi, his head bowed in meditation. His fox red hair tied up like what seems to have become his usual hair style. His sea green highlighted armor seemed to be missing for a change. He did still wear nothing from the waist up, showing the countless tiny scares that covered his torso.
The whole scene seemed serine despite the situation outside. Scorpion had come to the quiet forest. Their arrival was another product of the war that has taken the empire. Normally the peaceful Kitsune would have been spared however their recent inclusion into the Mantis clan has changed them into just as much a target. Whispers amongst the family voiced the distaste of the alliance and situation, even with Daichi’s attempts to embrace their new clan. However, through this something seemed odd, with the Scorpion’s forces.
The door to the chamber burst open, as a Kitsune scout entered and kneeled behind Daichi. His armor bore the traditional colors of the kitsune with sea green highlights. He did not wait before speaking his report. “Daichi-dono, we have managed to get into the camps. The scorpion that are here are just a token force. The bulk of their force is ronin. It seems their presence is a paper tiger.”
Daichi’s discolored eyes snapped open. “Are you certain of this?” He asked more of a token as he held absolute trust in his family, something that might one day prove his down fall.
“Yes, my lord. This information comes from our allies as well our scouts. All the war encampments hold the same story. While they cut our trees in preparation for a siege it is just ronin with a few token Scorpion.”
As Daichi stood up, he spun around in place, his hair fluttering around him before settling back into its position. “It is time to drive them our home. Send word to our allies that they are not here and be watchful.” He said giving the command to the scout.
The scout climbed to his feet and gave a bow before leaving the chamber. Daichi turned to face the statue again before speaking to it and himself. “We may be peaceful, my lady, but they shall learn we will fight like cornered animals when our home is in danger. May you watch over us.” With that last line he turned and exited the chamber.
