'During the Dragon-Phoenix War, both the Dragon and the Phoenix wanted to exploit the knowledge within the great archive known as the Izaku Library. Both hoped to use it as a weapon against the other. The Izaku knew that they could not serve serve either side in good faith if it led to the destruction of the other. As a result of this issue, they locked away all of the spell scrolls with military applications in the depths of the library, vowing to refuse access to these powerfull spell caches after the conflict had ended.'

The Izaku Library, Present Time
"I've come to claim my prize. Open the gates."
The Tamori daimyo's voice was calm but authoritative, leaving no room for questioning. The Izaku bowed and obeyed, allowing the champion of the recently concluded Tournament of the White Orchid access to the deeper levels of the library.
Tomes upon tomes. Scrolls upon scrolls. Innumerable shelves filled with them lined the entire hall. Compiled magical knowledge researched and documented throughout eons were here. From the mundane blessings to the most complex incantations. All here just waiting to be read.
The scholar in Koichi almost wanted to stop there and then. But he refused to give into himself and continued his stride. His goal lay deeper still in the library, in the innermost sanctum. He walked faster, growing excited. The old scribe at his back could hardly keep up.
Finally the unlikely pair arrived at the last impedement to what Koichi sought. Another door with intricate locks and bolts. In front of it stood one man holding the key to it.
"Do not do this my Lord. I beg of you."
The Tamori daimyo only shook his head. "It is too late Izaku. Things cannot be stopped now. This is what is needed to save the Empire. Open the door."
The man nodded. There was to be no argument. With one turn of the key, the locks on the door unhinged themselves slowly, the metal creeking and rumbling as it moved. Finally the door opened.
'And it was so with the opening of the Izaku scrolls that the Tamori daimyo took the first step into unleashing the most destructive of knowledge against the enemies of the Hantei. '
