The Imperial court was abuzz from the early hours of the morning. A small troup of a dozen of samurais escorted what looked like a messenger, riding forth on their horses, all bearing a unknown symbol, has arrived with the dawn.
The leader of this troup had requested an urgent interview with Miya Maseraki. The noblewoman had been in the middle of a strange situation recently. Trying to make as many connections as possible between the Hanteï and the Toturi, the Myia family had tried - and succeeded - to marry some of her female representatives to some proeminent members of the Toturi army.
A ronin, formerly known as Mirumoto Kenji, follower of Kaneka, had been bestowed the honor of taking an imperial bride. News from the ronin Taïsa were important indeed to make such an arrival with the small hours of the day.
And actually, later on the morning, Miya Maseraki had on her turn requested the permission to speak in front of the Imperial Court.
"Very Mighty Hanteï the XXXXth, honorable members of the Imperial court, respectable representative of all clans, I, Miya Maseraki, will now read a letter from my husband. I must say I totally and respectfully his decisions and what he says in this message. For as much as weight I can bring in the pursue of his quest for Rokugan's Peace, I will bring my effort in the accomplishment of this goal."
She unfolded a scroll, marked on its outside by the same symbol the messenger had on its kakemono. She read with her voice used to speak in front of large audiences.
"Son of the Sun and Moon, samurais of the Imperial court and of every clans of Rokugan, my name is now simply Kenji.
When the Yobanjin Horde became a menace to the Empire Security, I followed the one army, and its leader. I fought alonside many vaillant Rokugani and we as one, secured our borders.
When our Taisho was victim of an assassination attempt, in the heat following the battle, he took the decision to claim the throne, for he was the one who had acted the most quickly to repeal the invading army.
I am just a man and can not pretend to read the mind of another man, but I saw then his course of action motived by a single desire : the security of Rokugan.
This one goal is now fading away. Rokugan is teared to blood and ashes. The Dragon clan has transformed a legitimate battle into a burning massacre. Castle of the swift sword is no more. I can only ask : in whose name this pyre was erected ?
Ennemy is still at our frontier. The Kaïu Kabe and Shiro Hiruma have been massively attacked once during our petty squabble - even if I barely can associated the "petty" word with the bloodshed I've witnessed lately.
So here's my decisions.
My otokodate will follow my command. We are leaving the Toturi's army. I've let emissaries stay with Toturi Kaneka to express the urge of peace. My beloved bride will relay my words at Kyuden Otomo and to your attention on the same matter.
We won't be part of the conflict anymore neither on the battlefield nor politically.
Nevertheless, I personnaly express the regrets that gestures of good will have not been done to close the gap tearing the Empire aparts. The choice of Akodo Kurako could have been such a gesture. The choice of a Doji Domotai is a honorable one, but not a peaceful one.
This decision won't prevent our otokodate to work as hard as it can be to make full light on who are responsible on the assassination attempt she was victim of. We only hope this won't bring further dissension within an already too torn Empire.
Emissaries of my otokodate are working in Rokugani's court to smooth over misunderstandings and build back peace. We can only hope this won't be in vain.
Moreover we will help the people of Rokugan to secure their home. Our otokodate will hunt thieves and repress banditry everywhere they are spotted.
We don't ask for mercy or forgiveness for what you might judge as past errors. We ask for Rokugan's peace.
We can only hope, for we don't have the will or the means to force your decision, you will hear Rokugani people's cry for help.

Leader of the Otokodate of the Scarab"
Miya Maseraki folded back the scroll, on which the Scarab was drawn. Court was full of the chattering noise of the questions roused by this lecture. The noblewoman spoke again.
"Hanteï-sama, as this letter is adressed to your attention, I respectfully keep it at your disposal. My husband do not wish to have any secrets to anybody, and you will be able to reach him through me, or at the White Shore Plain. I am here to answer any questions you have. If I do know how to answer them, I will."
OOC : I am just one player, but I'll try to RP this with in-game actions. Smoothing misunderstanding, fighting bandtry and investigating on the bride's thing will be my goals for the next days. If any players are willing to join the otokodate of the scarab, they are welcome.
