[ooc]The RP[/ooc]
This RP is open to anyone. It will be set in a small home (at least to begin with). There will be a few peasant children who come to and from the home doing errands for the occupant, but other than that he lives alone.
At this point, I have no desired "goal" for the RP, just some fun with a character that seemed like it could be interesting to try.
[ooc]Background[/ooc]
This RP deals with a character and idea I have been thinking about wanting to explore for a while.
Akodo Yoru is one of the faceless Akodo. (look under naming and death of this article for a snippet) He, like many formerly nameless, faceless, pawns of the Lying Darkness became the new Akodo family when Hitomi and Yakamo named the Lying Darkness.
He was a middle aged man 30 years ago when he became Akodo Yoru. Now, he is an old man, incapable of leading a charge in battle any longer, his chance at a death on the battlefield passing him by. As far as he knows, he has never been married, he has no children, he has no love. All he has, is the history that he has accumulated in his retirement.
His home, is a small quaint house on the outskirts of Shiro Akodo. Many know his name, and his story. Few, seek an audience with the retired Samurai, and leave him to his own vices. Peasant children have been known to run errands for him, as the man is far too old too travel far.
It was evening, and the last of Lord Yakamo's Light was fading away at the Horizon. The Old Man looked up from the scroll he was writing, and watched as it did. He bowed as deeply as he could, in reverence to it. It was part of a daily ritual that Yoru had done for almost thirty years.
Every morning, when he wakes, he bows to Lord Yakamo as he rises, and again when he sets. Every night as he lays ready to sleep, he whispers a quick thank you to Lady Hitomi. Every Day, Every night, for almost thirty years.
The old man has done so since he found out why he can't remember anything before the battle at Oblivion's Gate. He begged for Seppuku for Akodo Ginawa-sama when he realized what he had been. The wise Akodo counciled him, and after three days, asked if he still wished to atone for his misdeeds. Almost thirty years later, and he still thanks those who gave him life.
As the last of the light fades away, The old man lights a candle and illuminates a room filled with Scrolls and Tomes. Since he retired, the old man has scoured the Histories, determined to discover who the Faceless had been. Sometimes, his searches were easy, and the details of an Akodo's previous life were right there, waiting to be found. And sometimes... It was as if they had never existed until that moment.
The old man was beginning to fear the latter applied to himself. At times it was a difficult feeling to shake. Or maybe, he had been a bandit, and his disappearance to the ranks of the faceless was seen as a blessing to some. In those times, he remembered his council with Ginawa-sama.
Through it all, The Old Man's research never left the home. He had never shared his findings with another faceless. He had never shared it with his Daimyo. He simply recorded the history he could, hoping that one day, the events of his past would make sense.
