A worn-out messenger rode through the plains surroundig Shiro Hida. He had never understood why this castle was named "Kyuden". It was a war place, not a palace.
Whatever, his mission was not to discuss names.
The patrol spotted him in the distance and made a detour to intercept him. Normal business. He slowed down his steed and made it walk at a slower pace.
The Hida Gunzo asked him for his travel papers. He had them. The officer sent four of his men to escort the ronin, more as a surveillance team than a privilege or an honor.
The bushis didn't speak much. When the messenger arrived at the massive fortress, the Hida presented him to a Karo, and he was introduced to the permanent war council some called Court in Shi... Kyuden Hida.
The messenger bowed respectfully and waited for an order to stand back up.
When it came, he unfolded a scroll from his obi and handed it, head down to the representant of the Crab Champion.
Here was the message, direct-going as the Crab may prefer.
"Members of the Crab Clan,
some of you may know my name as I walked with you against our mutual ennemy from the other side of the Wall. I am Kenji, Taïsa of the Otokodate of the Scarab.
Following the madness at Castle of the swift sword, I made the decision to halt my participation in the current civil that thorns apart Rokugan.
A menace is growing inside the empire and on its south border, one which will caught weaker than ever if we don't take care.
I've sent orders to my troups to stop their actions at Seawatch Castle.
Nevertheless, we are gathering food supplies to help the Crab Army back to the Wall. We heard of a Scorpion army asking for the Hospitality of the Crab. I don't know what to think of their true goals and will let you decide on this matter.
Let it be known that all my men are ready to help the Crab against the Shadowlands, either in or outside the Empire.
Courage. Let's not fail.
Kenji."
The messenger bows, waiting for an answer if any.
