Would it be possible to add something to indicate when an action is going to expire. I know a few players were taken unaware of the sudden switch from the Shogun's call to arms to the Shogun's march.
Not all of the players log in on a daily basis or might miss where in the news that it is mentioned that a set of actions are going to expire.

A few days would be really nice (even in-game everybody would know a few day in advance when the shogun plans to leave the capital).
From my two decades as roleplayer I have to say that I enjoyed the games most where the GMs were open in want they planed to do, so that I as a player can make an informed decision. As a GM myself I try to show as much transparency as possible, and the result is that I hear often from various players that I am the best GM they know (and some have played which many out there).
It feels like so far most feedback on things that can build up frustration in players is ignored. Would be nice to get an answer to the many request threads that are already here (things like: the infamy at gaisha houses or that the Daidoji should have Kyujutsu instead of Art).

I'm sorry that you are feeling frustrated by this turn of events. I actually thought it was quite clear that the Shogun's intention was to raise an army, then move to meet the barbarian invasion. Regarding announcing when things happen in advance, although I appreciate that it helps players make better choices to announce things in advance, I am not sure it will always make sense for us to announce dynamic plot events before they actually happen. Sometimes it will make sense; for example, announcing the end of Winter Court, so wrap up your business while you can. Other times it will really not make sense; for example, announcing that ninja are going to assassinate the Imperial Herald tomorrow, so you might want to be on your guard. The game is really meant to model a dynamic world where events are happening over time. Some of the plot events may surprise player characters; in fact, I hope some of them do. I hope that makes sense. Regarding your other comments, I will address them in the topics where they were brought up.

I for one would like to remind everyone that this is far different from a table top rpg, with a group of 5 individuals. For a game featuring 2 thousand or so players, the management of time and events is done very very well. Some could even argue that the game is going slow. I applaud Jay for not only how excellently the game is going, considering the management issues, but also for addressing this concern as diplomatically as that.
Sorry to disagree, Kenshi, but I feel we may not be being very considerate of the grandiose nature of this game.

Sure, but it more or less still winter and that's not time when armies move in Rokugan. I actually thought it will be there for at least one month more than it was. The Fireworks at new year felt right, that they are only there for a short time was obviously. That every test at the topaz championship was only there for two days was told. I think it would help to know how long events are planned to be there, even if you think it is clear that they are only available for a short time. The game is really meant to model a dynamic world where events are happening over time. Some of the plot events may surprise player characters; in fact, I hope some of them do. The departure of the shogun should not be surprising. And even when the event surprises the character, it doesn't mean that it have to surprise the player as well. Sure, some things will come without warning but please tell us ahead how long they last so that they don't go without warning. That's my whole point! I hope that makes sense. Regarding your other comments, I will address them in the topics where they were brought up. Thank you for your time, now I feel much less ignored. I am fine with the pace (I could even live with it if they would take even more time, so that the whole war stuff would just happen during the summer). And my critic means that I actually care about the game, so don't get me wrong when I only point out things that are not perfect (my drive for excellency might be the reason why I prefer to play Crane). Sorry to disagree, Kenshi, but I feel we may not be being very considerate of the grandiose nature of this game. I always consider constructive critic as an act of kindness. When I take the time to write here it is because I like the game and I am glad we have it. But since there is always room for improvement (in everything in the world) there will always be feedback from people like me which points out what can be done to enhance the experience.

Hi!
Just a remender that this is a dynamic game... and i was often take off guard by the events and its normal. for my part, i feel good with the more "poetic" way to annonce events (like the fireworks and the built up of the army...). Its normal that sometimes things goes very fast and if i'm not there, then i was putting my fate somewhere else; or was'nt able to play that day. We must remeber that not every quest have to be completed by every player.
For exemple army movements can be done today or temorrow depending on the Shogun wishes... who knows? This make the game sometime frustrating but always SURPRISING. Thats what my players like of me, the surprise and quick turns of events in a game, sometimes because they have done something very deffirent and sometimes because i want to take then of guard that ask for the best of them to show up!

lol, at the time, my character had been kicked out of the clan because of failing an impossible mission to ensure a scorpion became the Oracle of Fire. When its a (at the time) non-combat trained shugenja + a dozen rank 1 bushi vs.....the other 10 players.... The fact I lived was amazement enough. So needless to say, a scape-goat ronin who was currently serving as a dragon bushi's bodyguard (Had not become Carp Clan Daimyo yet) doesn't get informed to such plots. =D
On the plus side, Shosuro Hametsu later admitted to me that he regretted kicking me out when I played a major role in the Scorpion Underground Railroad.
But now we're completely off topic, reminiscing on table-topping like 13-14 years ago....that statement makes me feel old now =(
