Yushahime nods her consent as she replies "that is a request I would be most happy to assist with. He is warm company and I am honoured you would ask me to be his companion on the way to Dragon lands, let alone a useful helper in diplomacy skills. I believe myself to only be a novice in such matters but I will do my best to meet your expectations."
Yushahime bows and finishes "thank you very much for seeing me today. I wish you well with your other duties and am flattered your have enjoyed my company, if only briefly. Please call on myself and my clan when you next have need of us and we will be glad to show you our strength. I pray you continue to receive the blessings of the kami and your daimyo receives the same"
Yushahime finishes her bow and then politely backs away from Tombe-sama as he wishes her well, turning to slide open the exit, bow once more and then remove herself and then close the room once again. With this she stands and takes her leave, asking a nearby servant where she can find Taka-san

hearing that his audience has been granted, Oronkohiro finds a peasant, and sends them about Kyuden Tonbo with a list of people who should make their way to the Estate.
Greetings Tonbo-San. My name is Oronkohiro. I am here at the behest of my Lord. My Lord is not a champion nor daimyo. His position as my Lord is the same position that the great Toturi I had taken during the Clan wars, as he was truly a Lord to his men. I come to you as a humble servant, looking to broker peace with your clan. I was chosen for this task, because the clan of my mother was destroyed and left to ruin by a great clan in a similar fashion to your own. While I may not have experienced the devastation first hand, I have enough knowledge of it that I may be able to understand your position more clearly than most.
My Lord would like to pledge resources to the rebuilding of your lands. In return, all we ask is for is an alliance. Many in our fair empire would look upon us in disgust. We are lesser because we are not a member of a great clan, nor do we have a major clan who would be such a strong supporter like the Dragonfly.
We have the resources to bring to Dragonfly lands. We have the men to aid in fortifying it while other more pressing issues like the recent Yobanjin uprising face your cousins the Dragon. We ask for no repayment in Gold, koku, or other resources. We see this as an opportunity to build a lasting friendship between the Dragonfly, our ourselves.
While I understand that this decision may not be within your powers to make, I would ask that you at least carry my words to your daimyo's ear, so that they may reflect upon it.
Oronkohiro kneels and presents a scroll to Tonbo Tombe. The scroll is bleach white, and upon it is bright green wax seal. The Scroll contains a breakdown of Iron, Bamboo, and Rice shipments that can start reaching Dragonfly lands within a week on regular intervals.

OOC: I've just noticed in the Honored Dead section of EE that Tonbo Tombe committed seppuku lately. As for myself, I've been caught in a messy IT implementation and will probably be at it all week-end long. I should resume RPing on a regular basis on Monday. Sorry guys.

The families of the spider express reverent sorrow at the loss of Tonbo Tombe. We hope that whatever stains of dishonor he sought to purge does not tinge the rest of the Tonbo Clan.

So how do we want to roll with this? Do we want to give Tombe a Death here at court? Do we want to RP that he had to leave unexpectedly? Should we just consider this thread dead?

"I'm afraid that Tombe left no death haiku, or word to his family. I would not speak ill of the dead; so I will simply say this: Should a man as honourable as he have found reason to leave this world in such great haste, I would not question his virtue."
"Greetings. I am Tonbo Takeshi, Champion of the Dragonfly. How may we serve the Empire today?"

* It took Taka longer than he expected to retrieve his personal belonging and take possession of his mount, if it could be called a mount. Taka is no expert in horses but that "old mare" is more a "venerable mare waiting to die" than an actual riding horse. Yet, according to Hakezo, it was the best the Clan could afford at this point. Taka took a mental note to inquire about viable mount during his diplomatic duties. Afraid of killing that poor beast by riding it, Taka choses to put his stuff on the back of the animal and walk beside it while returning to his Lord's mansion. The Dragons, and Kitsuki Yashahime, are still there. Taka apologizes *
I'm very sorry for the delay, *eying the brave Dragons getting ready to walk* I promise that I will do my best to keep up. What your destination, Yushahime-sama.
* As the group finally leaves the city, news of the return of the Champion arrive. *

Yushahime daintily adjusts her kimono as she lowers herself from her horse "No apologies are needed Taka-san. I too will travel on foot. Our destination will be Shiro Mirumoto to report back and to have you formally introduced to key members of the Dragon Clan whose company you will hopefully enjoy. I then plan to receive new orders. I hear there many are mobilising for war against the western barbarians who have begun to invade Unicorn lands. Perhaps we could join them? I am sure that many courtiers will be amongst the generals, receiving messages and conveying them. It would be an excellent place to familiarise yourself with the duties of a courtier outside of court. Of course the decision is yours". Yushahime bows respectfully and then motions for the Dragon continent to depart. She makes sure to have a servant convey a gift to the memory of Taka Tombe to his family and to pray at the nearby temple to the kami for a safe journey ahead. He has a horse so she isn't worried about him catching up.
"Shall we?" (ooc: If you want to continue this in another thread and/or just move on to Dragon lands then I'd be happy with that. I'll find out there Yushahime is the new representative to the Scorpion and Crane and you are welcome to travel further with Yushahime from there)

(OOC) Restating this a little more presentable since I'm now speaking to a champion
(IC) Takeshi-san,
My name is Oronkohiro. I am here as a representative of my lord. My Lord is not a champion nor daimyo, rather his position as my Lord could be looked upon in the same fashion that the fortune Toku looked to the great Toturi as his Lord during the clan wars. No one can deny that Toturi was truly a Lord and Champion to his men.
I come to you as the voice of my Lord, and look to broker peace with your clan. I was chosen for this task, because the clan of my mother's ancestors was destroyed and left to ruin by a great clan in a similar fashion to your own. While I may not have experienced the devastation first hand, I have enough knowledge of it that I may be able to understand your position more clearly than most. The fact that you have such a fantastic ally in the dragon is a blessing to you Tonbo-san.
My Lord would like to pledge resources to the rebuilding of your lands. In return, we ask for no recompense. All we ask is for an alliance. Many in our empire would look upon us in distaste. We are lesser because we are not a member of a great clan, and we strive to serve the empire in ways that seem lesser than their own.
We have the resources to bring to Dragonfly lands. We have the men to aid in fortifying it while other more pressing issues like the recent Yobanjin uprising face your cousins the Dragon.

Post by Tonbo Takeshi on Feb 3, 2011 14:15:50 GMT -5
Takeshi nods, listening to the carefully chosen words of the ambassador. If there were such thing as an official Tonbo court, perhaps the man's words would have caused a stir. In reality however, the chamber is empty enough to almost produce an echo. The affairs of the Dragonfly are of little consequence to the empire, and as such, an audience with their champion, is almost a private conversation, save a few servants, a scribe, and an honour guard.
After a moment's silence, Takeshi gives his measured response.
"Your words are well-chosen, and betray a certain training, or perhaps a natural aptitude for court life. Your Lord, whomever that may be, chooses his vassals wisely.
You paint your master parallel to Emperor Toturi, which alludes to him being a great man, yet, you do not speak his named aloud, and proudly, which I find curious.
A need for anonymity suggests that this alliance you propose is a more clandestine dealing that I am accustomed to; though the idea of fortifications against this new, Yobanjin threat are tempting.
I am a Champion of a very small clan, Oronkohiro. We owe our very existence to our Dragon and Phoenix ancestors, to say nothing of their continued patronage. We must also mind the whims of the Lion clan, who thankfully, have more than enough enemies to fight these days.
The Dragonfly understand the position that your group might be in, all too well, but having common ground does not necessarily make our two groups kindred spirits.
Tell your master that I would hear their words; should he come in person to present their case. Ambassadors will be welcome in our lands so long as they adhere to Imperial Law.
I would offer to send this message to your lord via magic, but for that magic to work, I would need to know their identity."
*Edit for spelling.*

Oronkohiro places the scroll next to Takeshi. Truly, this man is wise. A more fool hearty daimyo would have jumped at the opportunity without analyzing the situation. Oronkohiro realizes that there will be no alliance today, but that the bridges towards one have been started. With this, he rises to leave.
Part of the reason for the anonymity of my lord, is that also, like the great Toturi during the Clan Wars, there are those who wish ill of my Lord, and would see he, and those who follow him, destroyed. Sometimes ignorance and impatience are the most damning parts of our nature.
Oronkohiro rises to leave, and you see his face take on a more serious expression from under the Jingasa.
I wouldn't call the alliance Clandestine in nature, but obviously, it is a measured and calculated risk and decision from both sides. I can understand your hesitance to an offer.
Please, take care to read the report found in the Scroll. I am to inform you that even without an alliance in place today, we will begin delivering supplies to you within a week. Our Desire to see Kyuden Tonbo and the Dragonfly whole again is immense. Perhaps when you see that our actions are with noble intentions, we can arrange for a meeting between My lord and you.
Oronkohiro turns to leave, walks a few steps and stops. He turns slightly, to face Takeshi and speaks one last time
Be wary of the Phoenix Tonbo-san. Their Ignorance and Impatience has cost a minor clan dearly before. I would hate to see the same tragedy befall yours.
Oronkohiro leaves. a large heavily armored Samurai nods at him and falls into step behind him as they exit the Estate. As they leave, they make a direct line from the estate towards the gates of Kyuden Tonbo. Screams start to fill the air near a local Inn.

Reports from the inn are that while cleaning a room at the inn, a body was found horridly mutilated in what appears to be a ritualist fashion, and placed in a locked closet. The body looks to belong to a young worker of a local tea shop.
