OCC: I think you came first, hahahah. Every contribution is great, I think. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Mitsouko maintained an impassible face, listening to the Toku Clan Champion to be announced. She feared for bad news. But she gave a slight smile and gently raised her eyes, asking her host. "Will we be honored by Toku Champion for this meal?"

OOC: You guys can do the improv, I'll steer it twords the storyline that it needs to be. When I get some time I'll PM you Sanjuro, had a power outage here yesterday and it put me behind in my threads.
Toku Kenpachi rose to address his champion. "I will be honored to recive assistance, Mitsouko-san. Perhaps my Lord comes with good news. He captured a ronin a short way from my estate."
Kenpachi looked at his champion, there seemed to be a look of satisfaction on his face. "Toku Sanjuro-sama." Kenpachi said. "Allow me to introduce, Kakita Mitsouko, magistrate of the Crane and Aiko's cousin." The last two words stuck in Kenpachi's mouth but he managed to say them. "We were just about to have rice. Would you care to join us?"

Toku Sanjuro walked up and modded at Toku Kenpachi. Fatigue showed on Sanjuro's face. Sanjuro smirked running his hand down his head and down his face, a ritual that he normally would perform to prove to himself he was acually at this location and that the past few days wern't just a bad dream.
Toku Sanjuro bowed respectfully to Kakita Mitsouko and smiled "Normally I would be flirty and charming Mitsouko, but under the current circumstances I am rather shook. I am dearly sorry about your cousin. I have sworn my word to Kenpachi to aid in these matters and I will not rest until Kenpachi's wife, your cousins death is brought to justice." with a flourish Toku Sanjuro bowed once again with a intense sincerity to Mitsouko and then rose and turned to Kenpachi.
Toku Sanjuro looked at Kenpachi and managed to summon his voice "Sorry to interupt your evening in this troubled times my friend. I just had to tell you what we found out. The ronin before he passed away admitted to helping a group of sohei monks into the area. He also admitted to smuggling weapons into our provience. He said he knew not what these monks were doing here nor the what the weapons were for. Do you know anything of why monks would be coming into our area under such questionable terms?"

Kenpachi bit his lip. "Sohei? Please join us in the sitting room, Sanjuro-sama. I need to show you something." Kenpachi ordered a few servents to return with books. Back in the sitting room, the books were brought. "I wanted the Kitsuki to look over this, just in case and I belive thier assistance will still be needed for a iron clad case without a blood feud being called. There is a Sohie fortress between the Akodo and Matsu provinces." Kenpachi said pouring over his notes and pointing to a map. Kenpachi took a katana wrapped in black silk from a ji-samurai that brought it to him. Kenpachi took the katana to Sanjuro-sama and showed him the symbol right above the hilt, a roring Lion. "This is the weapon that..." Kenpachi trailed off. "The weapon was not left as a warning or a clue. Aiko, must have purposefully helped to drive the blade so it would be stuck." Kenpachi smiled sadly. "She knew I would look for her murderers."
"I don't know why the Akodo would do this, though. I know of a Matsu that holds a grudge against me. Ever since she tried to injure me during my training at the Mastu Bushi school near Shiro Matsu." Kenpachi sat down. "It's not much, but it's something."

Mitsouko rose once the Monkey Clan Champion entered the room. She respectfully bowed when he was introduced, internally glad that they could leave the frivolities aside for now. It was a good happening that both were very eager to discuss their findings. *By one thousand fortunes, why did this man ask for a Kitsuke, anyway? * Monks in a border fortress counting with ronin to bring them weapons? What would be enough reason to kill Aiko, anyway? The only reason that smuggler monks, even if they were disguised ronin or who knows what kind of animals, might have to commit such barbarism, would be create chaos for cover their activities. But the fact was that just calling attention. Mitsouko had no doubt that the Toku daimyo would want to go deeper in the smugglers' case. The reason to kill her and her son could only be passionate and, perhaps, minimally politicians. Cause discord among the clan of the Monkey and Lions. In this moment, with a political crisis and a war going on? The interests of any clan not rest in this matter. Mitsouko could not fit the crime in a political category, however hard she try. The crime was caused by revenge. And now had some possibilities: Revenge against this family, revenge against Kenpachi-san, Revenge against Aiko! And if they could consider the outrage of the Matsu seeking for revenge in such way, why the Lion felt so offended to murder her Rival's wife and son? It was not just "like the Lion", she grumbled for herself. Unless, of course, that the group who attacked the house had come there seeking something very valuable ... And the samurai now was saying Aiko not only would have had strength, spirit and even more to stick the sword against her own body and the body of his son, to try to incriminate someone... For a loving mother, that would be quite difficult. Well, Kenpachi made clear he considered and loved Aiko very much. He was a bit blinded by his feelings, at that moment, Mitsouko considered. The sword seemed legitimately a sword of the Lion clan, not a crude forgery. But Mitsouko knew how to check this out: "Well, I beg you pardon for join the conversation, but... I can take the sword to a good friend who can recognize if the hamon is indeed from a sword made by the Lion Clan. Maybe even find out who own it." The best way to recognize where the blade are from would be to identify it by the" signature" left in each blade by its crafter. At first glance, it seemed a fine katana, not something done in a hurry to fill reserve armories for a daimyo. She lifted her eyes from the blade to the faces of the men in front of her. "My friend will be able to identify any Lion blade. He uses to make them."

"If you have no objections, Sanjuro-sama, that seems like a fine idea." Kenpachi said after thinking a moment. "My son will return with the Kitsuki soon, and perhaps we'll be able to astertain the origins of this sword by then."

Mitsouko pondered and said: And of course my little journey to Lion lands would be managed to lead me through the path of the monk fortress. It would be useful to check about it. If sama accept my help like Kenpachi-san already did, I’d must request some of your clan travel mates, if avaiable. My personal staff is small, as I am regressing from Ryoko Owari, not from my home. And I understand Kenpachi-san will stay here to wait for the Kitsuki, right?

Sanjuro gazed upon the two of them in the room. Gears started turning and it seemed like a plot unfolded before him. Sanjuro tapped his index finger to his upper lip.
"I believe we can do this and I have some questions for our Lion allies as well. Assuredly I can get us through the Lion country side. Mitsouko can utilize her contacts so we may indeed find out what has happened. I will leave a good portion of our forces here to prevent any other possible attacks. I will leave governorship to your uncle Kenpachi while we are away."
Sanjuro was pacing and staring into what seemed the beyond.
"We will need a small group with us however to prevent an ambush say us and four more for a total of seven. Yes this will work." Sanjuro turned to face the pair. "Kenpachi we should leave soon. The morning." Sanjuro nodded to Kenpachi.
Sanjuro turned to look at Mitsouko his eyes meeting hers for a second to long. "Mitsouko it was a pleasure. I hope you will not think ill of me for leaving as fast as I arrived, but preperations must be made." He smiled and bowed once more.

Mitsouko bowed to Sanjuro-sama, and after the departure of the Monkey Clan daimyo, she turned to Kenpachi: I will make my arrangements for the tomorrow trip, Kenpachi-san. I imagine that you will also take care of it, so I do not want to keep you away of your affairs with my presence. I really appreciated the din... She interrupted her speech as she felt a strange sense of loneliness and apprehension. like a cold and eerie breeze touching her face. This had happened indoors few times before. The kami of the air warned her that the moonlight would bring something different that night. A bit shaken Mitsouko touched the collar of her furisode, feeling suddenly feverish. She looked toward the exit, where less than 2 minutes the Toku champion was gone. He should still be out there. And something more also was. Muttering something unintelligible as an excuse, Mitsouko advanced to the door, staring at the moonlit landscape. She never was mistaken about that. "There!" Not far from the home near the small garden, a silhouette oscillated with its own supernatural glow gazing at her. A silhouette of a woman. It desappeared in the shadows, as asking to be followed.

Kenpachi said nothing. The shade looked familar. He wordlessly began to follow.

Beginning down the path to lead Sanjuro back to the keep he paused.
"It wont hurt if I make sure they are ok." he thought to himself. As he turned to take a look around the grounds Sanjuro heard Mitsouko's voice on the evening air"there!" her voice carried to Sanjuro. A hundred different scenarios played through his head all at once. Sanjuro ran next to the road not to be a target for a watchful archer.
Sanjuro approached the house just seeing Kenpachi disappearing into the darkness. Sanjuro quietly got Mitsouko's attention and without any noise dashed over to her side.
whispering to Mitsouko "I cannot ask you to follow me into the dark. You are a guest here in these lands. I am entrusted to protect you. However if this is a ambush for you then me leaving after kenpachi is just the opportunity these would be killers need. Do you trust me to protect you while we investigate what is happening?" Sanjuro looked hopeful

If Sanjuro-sama didn´t see the goryo, as Kenpachi did, Mitsouko knew it would be difficult to explain him what really happened. She was worried for her host, as the eerie spirit could be there to show them something…or lead one of them through treacherous paths… right down to the death. She wasn’t sure, but it seemed alike Aiko… but how could she say no to the Lord of these lands? *Trust me, Sanjuro-sama, Kenpachi-san need us more than I would need right now.* She urged to say. But she was just a guest. So Mitsouko only nodded, bitting her lips, agreeing with the will of the Toku Champion.

Kenpachi followed the spirit deeper into the small bamboo woods east of his garden. Aiko, why are you here? Why are you not in Medio with our son?
The shade looked to him, smiled and stood calmly in the middle of the clearing. Kenpachi began to walk to her in silence.

staying close to Kenpachi yet a few paces behind him, Sanjuro and Mitsouko followed every wary of the situation. Sanjuro had his Katana drawn posed at a angle aiming away and downward. Every possible scenario ran its course in his head. He saw everything in slow motion. How the moonlight cascaded across the clearing, and cast shadows in odd shapes. Sanjuro saw how the wind broke across the high grass and how portions swayed pile other patches didnt. He saw how some shadows were darker and almost seemed to swirl in the dead of night. Every part of of this screamed ambush to Sanjuro, and Kenpachi was blinded by his love for his family to see it.
(OOC- I always describe my char as seeing this or suspecting things because I have 200 Investigation. Im acually shooting for a descriptive version as Rokugans sherlock holms.)
Sanjuro took a few quiet steps off to the left as to not give away Mitsouko's position. Then with a BOOMING voice Sanjuro bellowed "KENPACHI TRAP!"
