A rider, armed for travel in these dangerous times, approaches Shiro Ichiro. he wears a sashimono bearing the Mantis mon. He has a small escort of bushi to protect him.
Upon cleaning himself from the road, he makes his way to the palace. He has a letter from the Yoritomo daimyo, addressed to the Badger daimyo, or their representative. He reads the letter aloud into court, and leaves the scroll.
"Greetings, honored cousin, Ichiro Kojuri-sama!
My apologies for the delay in writing; I've only recently become Yoritomo Daimyo, and there are several matters that drew my more immediate attention; war with Yobanjin, trade routes, stamping out piracy. You know, mere trivialities.
I write this letter to inform you of the Mantis' support for the Badger Clan. The Mantis, perhaps due to their unique history, view the so-called 'Minor' Clans with respect and admiration. The Mantis are the aggregate of several minor clans, and see no reason why the Minor Clans should be treated as lessers. For that reason, the Mantis would be honored to support the Badger in all their endeavors.
Firstly, we can offer military support. We will offer any aid possible to the Minor Clan Alliance. Transport, material, troops, training. All these are available. We have these assets, and will gladly aid our brothers and sisters.
Secondly, the Mantis offer economic ties. We are well versed at trade and travel, and can readily help you arrange any import or export, at terms favorable to your Clan.
Finally, the Mantis can offer backing in court. We will gladly advance your causes in the courts of Clans across Rokugan. The Mantis understand well the adversity minor clans face in the courts, and will do what they can to mitigate these difficulties. Should you need envoys for omiais, we have many courtiers available. For those of sufficient status, Yoritomo Akihiko himself would be honored to act as a go-between.
