his own clan goes one way? Takezo bends the other, even breaking away of need be. Conflict! Saying it like this makes it sound like you've abandoned your Clan out of spite or just to piss people off.

OOC: Not much for betrayal, and in the actual game timeline Kaneka swore to never betray Naseru, even after the Khan pressured him to do so. After all, Chagatai attacked Toshi Ranbo because Kaneka refused him, and he thought his attack would force Kaneka into accepting (instead Kaneka was killed by Chagatai defending his brother). In other words, this seems nothing like the honorable Toturi Kaneka I know; nor does the same Naseru, who sacrificed himself for those who followed him to the Tomb of the Seven Thunders and declared Kaneka to be his heir, seem worthy of being over thrown. I know it's a different reality, but I can't help based on those things and more.
IC: Eri isn't rebellious, and thinks more like a peasant. Since the peasants she work with seem not to care either way, she isn't too concerned with it. Still, as an honorable samurai she does feel some duty towards preserving the Emperor's rule, though not in any way thay would cause anyone harm or cause any strife; More to the contrary.

No, not at all. If you'll review the discussions in the Dragon private forum leading up to the exodus of Takezo, Ojii and others, you'll find that it was carefully arrived at to create a sensible storyline which explained the conflict between what had been RPed and what had been voted on by many Dragon players who didn't participate in the forums. Narratively as well, I thought it was more interesting to go with it and have Takezo embark on a kind of Campbellian "hero's journey" than to retcon his story to fit the polls. Bear in mind, too, that Takezo is one of the first PCs in the game (I'm one of the first 10 players) and it's nice to change things up every now and again. Takezo started out as a lone wolf Dragon swordsman wandering the remote places of the world, seeking challenges to hone his techniques - during this period he had the highest void in the game. As game politics began to gel, he reluctantly became Dragon clan Champion and - if I do say so myself - served well in that capacity. As the rumblings of civil war began, Takezo found himself challenged by his own Clan, so he became shugyosha - ronin - and again finds himself a lone wolf, facing the greatest challenge of his life. The only thing which remains (probably) is either death or monastic retirement... in all, an interesting cycle of life for a character. I'm aware that there are those who weren't/aren't pleased at how we arranged our RP storyline, but to say that it was somehow motivated by vindictiveness is inaccurate.

OOC: Always liked the idea of keeping the Hantei name; more like a title in itself really...
IC: Convenience. In his insanity, Khamul came to believe that Kaneka was the only mortal warrior worthy of testing himself against (he doesn't count Daigotsu as a "mortal warrior"). He hoped that the war with the Hantei would cause Kaneka to expose himself allowing him to get close enough to challenge the Shogun. Sort of a "the enemy of my enemy is someone I shouldn't kill just yet" philosophy...

Hantei is the one true glorious Emperor of Rokugan. Kaneka is a traitor and should be cut down like the dog he is. Those that follow the Traitor are either poor misguided souls or traitorous scum. They should perform the three cuts and be done with it.

Following Toturi's son.
hantei's bloodline has done enough wrongs to Rokugan, it's time to end it. We have the right to stand against a man who disrespected his father by giving away his name (it is not due to the war of spirit, led by another mad hantei), as we did when fu leng incarnated himself into the last of the divine line of emperors.
Now's the time for mortals.

I had declared for Kaneka first (and it was purely IC) So, like my Clan chose otherwise, I changed my mind to better fit my position.
