“People come and people go. Mostly, they go.” Name: Bayushi Hiryu Age: apparently late forties – for those who can determine it behind his mask Height: average Build: relatively frail Hair: black, and kept in order Eyes: black
Appearance: a tall bushi outfitted with the finest clothes available, arranged in the traditional style favoured by the inhabitants of Kyuden Bayushi, this Scorpion rarely leaves his mask, an obsidian mempo that covers most of his face. He wears his daisho on all occasions, with usually no other visible weapon, and is known for fighting with both weapons at once, in the style of the Mirumoto school. His voice is charming and his conversation always polite, until he fights: on these occasions, he is a model of unleashed violence, feared by both his enemies and his students. His kimono displays the mons of several schools. He has a crane tattooed inside his left wrist, as a symbol of luck, and a centipede in the back. When asked about the latter, Hiryu usually answers with a nod or a cryptic riddle; a rumor says that this tattoo may indicate his status as a member of a criminal organisation.
Family: none known
School: Bayushi bushi/supai/Bayushi courtier.
Status: Sensei at the Bayushi bushi school and Scorpion clan ambassador to other courts.
History: the name Bayushi Hiryu has been used for quite a long time within the Scorpion clan. Some historians may remember such a samurai in the Clan War, acting as a prominent bushi in the Scorpion armies, while others may remember him as a quickly eliminated candidate in the Emerald Championship that saw Yasuki Hachi’s victory. Some know him as a gentle courtier, well liked in the Empire’s many small courts, especially minor clans’, while for others he is a ruthless perfectionist sensei feared for his unconventional tactics, emotional outbursts and, within the Scorpion, the punishments he inflicts to the students who fail his tests. Whether the name has been used by one single Scorpion or several remains a different matter that the Ikoma have not been able to solve. After having participated in several battles in the Empire and at the City of the Lost and been the subject of much talk recently at Kyuden Bayushi, this Hiryu currently wanders the Empire, at the request of his lords in the Scorpion clan. He is currently heading towards the Phoenix lands, and some whisper that he has unfinished business in the area.

A letter intended for a Daigotsu Kentaro, intercepted by Emerald Magistrates:
Dearest Kentaro-chan, I hope your travels through Rokugan find you well. I know you chafe at the decision your father Toshiro and I have made, but we both feel you should know more of the world before you take any position of authority among the Spider. Power is not given, it is taken and defended. Without broader experiences and allies, your fighting prowess alone would not be sufficient to protect you.
Please don't think I belittle your abilities as a swordsman; I trained you in the Kakita style myself, albeit with a few unorthodox techniques to improve it. I have heard of your successful duels, and I have no doubt the Kenku themselves will soon accept you as a student. It is more that our father and I wish you to be a more rounded samurai than a mere warrior. You must be able to make allies. Sincere ones at that; not mere tools to use and toss aside. There is much that we still have in common with the other clans. Poetry, art, literature. These things must be mastered. And from your last reply, I would say your calligraphy is superb. Not Crane superb, but, at the risk of offending your father, it is certainly good enough for the lesser Scorpion standards.
I have heard you have made the rounds of several courts. It is good that you attend these. You have no idea when you may need a favor. Perhaps you may even find a wife... I should not tease; the fact that you may not leave our small clan may make finding a suitable wife difficult. But should you find one willing to marry into the Spider, you will know you have found the right woman. I know you are handsome; you look much like your father at that age. But do try to avoid any romantic embarassments, won't you? You would bring honor to no one by courting scandal.
Toshiro wishes me to remind you to strive towards greater glory, especially in matters military. I won't repeat what he threatens if you do not achieve military rank in Hantei's armies. You may not understand why we back the Hantei, son, but it is quite simple: Hantei won the first tournament, so Hantei is Emperor. Despite the treatment our clan's emissary received from those in Hantei's camp, we must continue to back the rightful Emperor.
I hear you are to offer our Clan's help in court again. I can only hope you meet with better luck than the last diplomat. But you are such a charming young man; I refuse to believe they would have you killed. Or that you would allow them, for that matter.
We are so proud of you, among the first generation of Spider-born. It was deemed a blessing indeed when we had you. To be truly of the Clan, and not adopted in, will surely improve your standing. Why, even the staunchest defender of Bushido would begrudgingly approve of your loyalty to your Clan!
Safe travels, and may you serve the Empire and the Spider, Daigotsu Aiko
A confidential dossier on the same Daigotsu Kentaro, assembled by an anonymous Emerald Magistrate:
Subject: Daigotsu Kentaro Physical Characteristics: Subject is of average height, athletic build. Better than average looks. Blue eyes. Other traits suggest Kakita heritage to some degree. Right handed. Mental Characteristics: Quick witted. Has evaded several attempts at surveillance. Well-read, educated. Fine hand for calligraphy. Some artistic ability. Spiritual Characteristics: No known magical abilities. No Taint symptoms, mental or physical, are apparent. Given history, Jade Magistrates were summoned to stealthily examine the subject for Taint. None detected. Known History: Subject first appears in Rokugan in the past year. Definitely samurai in education. Given the contents of the letter, it is probable the subject grew up on the other side of the Kaiu Wall. How he has remained free of Taint (to the best of our evidence) is not known. Alternate theory is a ronin, of unknown background, living in the Empire itself. Subject has been formally and officially trained by the Kakita Dueling Academy, and has been appointed as a magistrate by the [obscured] Clan. How this was arranged is unknown. Has been seen fighting against rebels at Lonely Shore City, though in a covert manner. By all accounts, loyal to the Hantei. Willing admits to being part of the 'Spider Clan', though quick to back off on the claim of a clan in the face of legal evidence to contrary. Very recently rumored to have visited Kyuden Doji on a diplomatic errand on behalf of the 'Spider Clan'. Recommendations: Keep under surveillance, but do not approach. Subject is unlikely to be taken in by deception. Skilled duelist, skilled in stealth. No testimony of criminal or treasonous activity as yet; keep looking.

Shosuro Yoichi is an aspiring actor, well known already in the lands of the Scorpion, but relatively unknown outside those lands. Known mostly for his various portrayals on stage- both in the Noh and Kabuki styles- he has also attracted a separate social following. A consummate performer, he has attracted the eyes of many a patron of the arts. Many a samurai-ko has sighed over a pillow book, thinking only of his dark eyes, holding many secrets, and deft movements on and off stage.
In court, whispers follow him, and a cloud of scandal seems to linger on those who associate with him, a cloud that never touches him. Yoichi-san seems an amusing diversion to the gossips, but never truly dishonours his family or himself.
As a Shosuro, his mask is simple, black silk covering everything just below his eyes. That simplicity contrasts with his clothing, which is elaborate to say the least.

Thought I'd update my back story since it may become relevant and some editing may be needed.
Sprinkles was a Sahir from the Burning Sands in the time before the fall of the Kami. Seeking more power he traveled to Rokugan and learned Yobanjin magic and became a tribal leader seeking to conquer. The more he studied he began to modify his magics. He used the ritual to make a khadi but removed his soul and bound it the land. Without even the weakness of a heart nothing could kill him. He was unstoppable..until the kami came. Instantly his army was diminished. He fled to the Shadowlands. He swore loyalty to Fu Leng, the strongest of the kami. If he must serve he would be the right hand of the god that would conquer the land. However he was destroyed by Akodo in battle. His magic worked and Sprinkles body was reborn in the Earth but many many years later. The kami no longer walk this realm. Fu Leng is gone. A man named Daigotsu claims to lead his armies, and honor Sprinkles believes should be his. The world he knew has passed and a new one is waiting to be conquered. But Sprinkles is still weak. Secretly he bides his time, he learns the magic of maho, and one day he will take the Throne for himself.
I made Sprinkles very powerful but I rp very balanced. He is also easier to kill than a regular khadi so I didn't feel I was over the top. Just very different.

Public Name: Zeure Real Name: Chuda(Tamihei?) Yun Age: Indeterminable Height: 5'5" Build: Average yet Toned Hair: Black and usually kept in a loose topknot. Eyes: Neon Green, not glowing, just bright; and there is a scar crossing his right eye. Once, long ago in Phoenix lands, there was a child born to the Isawa family. He was given the name Yun by his parents, both powerful shugenja, as is common to the Isawa family. Early on, it was found that Yun had the knack for speaking with the kami; his parents were terribly excited. What his parents didn't know is that he also had a knack for speaking with other entities. His gempukku was a ceremony like any other, Yun demonstrated his abilities and was found to be quite capable, yet unrefined. He had a brute force way of dealing with the kami, he could command them to do extraordinary things, but he had trouble controlling them in matters of precision. He passed but it was declared that he would not yet be able to leave the Isawa lands until his sensei was more satisfied with his capabilities. Two years would pass with Isawa Yun practicing every day to refine his methods. His sensei grew ever more demanding of him, because the sensei could see a deep talent in Yun that he wanted to draw out. Yun felt picked on, a chip developed on his shoulder which his other associates would not let him live down. Only his determination kept him going. One day, a day that would live in infamy for Yun, he had been practicing all day and was quite exhausted; his sensei could sense this and allowed Yun to retire. However, on the way home, Yun was confronted by another shugenja; a traveler that was visiting from the Lion lands. This mans arrogance was palatable and he challenged Isawa Yun to to a Taryu-Jiai duel. Isawa Yun was willing to allow this challenge to pass off him, as he had no interest; which only fueled the fires against him. The younger-than-Yun Kitsu made it clear to Yun his thoughts of someone who was still in training and unable to go about his own business. Yun then accepted his challenge. They withdrew to a small unpopulated area outside the walls, heading towards the Mori Isawa and began their challenge. A spectacular display of magical prowess passed between the two; however, with Yun already being exhausted he was having trouble keeping up. The Kitsu pressed his advantage by summoning a tower of water that would fall and crush Yun underneath a crashing wave. Yun knew how to counter this, but he had not the strength to press the Air kami to force the towers falling another direction. Just then, time seemed to stop, and a voice whispered in Yun's ear. "If you will let us, we can power your magic to do these things you wish, but you must agree to use us." Desperate and wanting to win more than anything, Yun agreed wholeheartedly to this mysterious voice. Time returned and Yun was channeling a power that he had never felt before. Some simple cuts that Yun had sustained in an earlier exchange grew deeper and a torrent of air rushed from Yun's fingertips. This gust of air forced the tower to fall in upon itself as it seemed to be cut in half by the wind. Yun shrugged forward and fell to one knee, his vision blurred as he began to pass out. Sound faded, but Yun maintained conciousness. After what seemed like several minutes passed, Yun's sight cleared; and before him, his opponent lay on the ground. Yun let out an exultant cry of victory, and then shortly, "Better luck next time, you arrogant...." The words slipped from Yun, as he clearly saw that his opponent was not in one piece. Apparently the blades that destroyed the tower had dug deeper than Yun had wanted. Yun, in a panicked state, ran into the Mori Isawa; he knew what would happen if he returned home, and would not allow his family to know his shame. He ran, but to no avail, for it was known he left in the company of the Lion, and it was also known that he had trouble controlling his abilities. His father accepted Seppuku in order to cleanse the shame of his family, and his mother threw herself on her own knife, in the way that Samurai-ko chose to at times. Years would pass as Chuda Yun researched the dark art form known as Maho. It had been some time since he found out that it was the Kansen whispering in his ear that day. His new family had accepted him without any hesitation even though he had told them of his misfortune. He had chosen to find the remnants of the Chuda to attempt to understand what had happened and to expand on his talents; and as the foremost Shugenja that would not care he had killed it was the only fit he could think of. He was determined to delve ever deeper into the knowledge that others had not yet gained to try and make a mark for himself. He wanted to give something back and if he could earn some glory for himself, then all the better. His main concentration had been on the undead and the ever-living. Immortality fascinated Chuda Yun but the drawbacks of becoming undead were too high a price to pay. After years of research, Yun had finally found a possible path, but one that may come with drawbacks, drawbacks determined by chance. Yun had heard of the Ningyo. Yun and a few others who had read the research departed for the waters that surrounded an old Naga temple to seek out the possibility. The battle was fierce, Ningyo are not without their ways, but one Ningyo against three Maho-Tsukai is just not a battle that can be won. They each cut off a chunk of the Ningyo's flesh, each imbued it with a magic to prepare it. Yun used Fire to char the flesh and to prepare it for eating. Each devoured the flesh it what was a small ritual unto itself. Waves of pain washed over Yun, he screamed in agony as something inside his body shifted. His vision blacked and he collapsed. Moments later, he awoke, hazily he looked around him. He saw the Ningyo that he had helped to kill, but he also saw something new; a statue that bore an eerie resemblance to one of his fellow Maho-Tsukai, and another Ningyo that was asleep. He retook his feet and looked around, and he had a hunger he had never known before... [OOC] Follow Here: CLICKY! [/OOC]

OCC: Couple of updatesName: Void Master Agasha Shodai Age: 30 Height: 5'10" Weight: 150 lbs Hair: Shoulder-length White with a lock of Black over his left eye (permanently changed after a brush with Meido, cannot be changed cosmetically or by magic) Eyes: Emerald (right) and Gray (left) Appearance: Agasha Shodai typically wears black or dark red shugenja robes and wears a full daisho as he has trained in the style of the Yamabushi. He carries his paternal grandfather's wakizashi at all times, but he will carry a different katana depending on which part of the Empire his journey takes him to. He has been known to wear light armor that he forged using a blend of techniques learned from the Kaiu, the Tsi, and his own Agasha family. Family: Agasha Keitaro (father, 52) and Agasha (formerly Isawa) Sakura (mother, 48) Rank: 9 School: Isawa Shugenja School 4 / Isawa Tensai (Void) / Elemental Guard (Void) 3 / Agasha Shugenja School 1 Affinity/Deficiencies: Void (double affinity), Fire (Neither), Air (Deficient,) Earth (Deficient,) Water (Double deficiency) History/Personality: Agasha Shodai is a much-travelled man. As a youth, he was one of the top students in the Isawa Shugenja school and was one of the few with the Agasha name to show aptitude for Ishiken-do - Void magic - thanks to the venerable Isawa bloodline his mother has passed to him - indeed, his maternal grandfather was the Master of the Void long before his mother was born. Shodai's paternal grandfather was a battle-hardened Gunso, who taught his grandson the ways of combat as Bushi understand it and the boy was as entranced by physical combat as he was magical learning. Even in his youth, Shodai was a bit of an odd duck in that while he knew his place in the social order of Rokugan, he was always filled with compassion for his fellow man, regardless of status. Upon completing his Gempukku, Shodai chose to honor both his grandfathers by securing for himself the priviledge of studying for a summer with the Tamori Yamabushi and learning how to blend his self-taught blade skills with his Isawa Shugenja School training. This would turn out to be only the start of Shodai's travels. Thanks to his skill at Ishiken-do, Shodai was able to master the art of Teleportation and he can travel the length and breadth of the Empire at will. He has studied and trained with most of the Shugenja and Bushi schools - all in an effort to hone himself in to a better samurai and person. This work, on top of his family's connections within the Phoenix Clan, earned Shodai an invitation to join the Elemental Legion of the Void - the secretive Void Guard that are generally considered to be a rumor by the bulk of the Phoenix Clan and a myth by the Empire at large. Upon completion of his time with the Void Guard, Agasha Shodai chose to resume his personal studies with the Agasha Shugenja School rather than returning to the Isawa School. Since that time, Shodai has focused on two of his true passions - developing new spells and teaching others. He has begun writing his own Tao which attempts to bridge the various aspects of his own personality and skills - and, at the same time, - provide a useful learning tool that may help others in finding what role they will play in Destiny's grand design. Shodai's Tao can be found at rokuganee.proboards.com/index.cgi....play&thread=459Following a rather unexpected turn of events, Agasha Shodai has just been elevated to the seat of the Phoenix Clan's Void Master and the Voice of the Elemental Council. This success has allowed his maternal grandfather's spirit to return to Yomi; his onus completed. He is currently betrothed to Kakita Mitsouko - the Kakita Family Daimyo and Kenshinzen, whom he shares a Kharmic Tie with from their last incarnation which was over two hundred years ago - but the initial battles of the War for the Throne came during the one month wait that is customary in Rokugani culture. He was among the first of the Phoenix Clan to swear fealty to Hantei XL and has been working tirelessly to prepare his normally pacifistic clan for war, which has, unfortunately, taken far longer than he personally would have liked. The Phoenix will soon march... And Agasha Shodai will lead from the front. ~*~ Advantages (Beginning): Ishiken-do, Void Versatility, Precise Memory, Paragon of Compassion, Touch of the Spirit Realms (Yume-do), Clear Thinker, Balanced, Irreproachible Disadvantages (Beginning): Bad Fortune (Evil Eye), Haunted (Ojiisan Isawa, his maternal Grandfather), Lost Love (Ojiisan Agasha, his paternal grandfather,) Compulsion (Tea Ceremony,) Idealistic -- Advantages (Current): Ishiken-do, Void Versatility, Precise Memory, Paragon of Compassion, Touch of the Spirit Realms (Yume-do), Enlightened, Friend of the Brotherhood, Friend of the Elements (Fire), Sage, Kharmic Tie (Kakita Mitsouko), Clear Thinker, Balanced, Irreproachible Disadvantages (Current): Bad Fortune (Evil Eye), Cursed By The Realm (Meido), Ascetic, Lost Love (Ojiisan Agasha, his paternal grandfather,) Compulsion (Tea Ceremony,) Idealistic

Age 26 Height: 5'8''
After his genpuku ceremony, his father Koihou, chui of the dragon, had almost all of his troops obliterated by a oni, they were just able to return alive thanks the sacrifice of togashi hito, a monk that followed then into the village controlled by that evil oni. Koihou, unable to live with the same of such defeat he choose to replace his savior, and abandoning his family, he joined the togashi monks. Sakuiya, saddened by such one sided decision, faced some tough times raising three young samurais without their father. Tobushi helped his mother the best he could, but his intense training with the fire archers, at the great fall dojo and with the yamabushi pushed him far from his family His loneliness just aggravated his anger, and he trained even harder to extract his vengeance, he would face the oni that lurked in the shadows of his beloved mountains. In one of those hunts, he faced an impossible challenge, an huge oni, with the power to obliterate villages like the one that destroyed his father troops, had just began an assault at a defenseless village. He would not tolerate such act, even if that would cost his own life, he would save those villagers. Unlike the army, he was prepared for such encounter, and his jade arrows rained with fire in the oni’s back. Shaken by the attacks but still standing, the monster gave up on the injured defenders and started to chase tobushi. An young shugenja was too late to avoid the charge of the great oni, and tobushi jumped instinctively, slashing the oni with his katana and pushing the shugenja out of the range, but without balance, he had fallen the cliff, losing consciousness in a tree. After some dreams about a lake with kois, a dragon flying in the clouds and his father carring him went he was a children, he awaken at Tamori Sumie house, the shugenja he saved. His attacks weakened the oni and given the defenders enough time to regroup and finish the monster. Sumie told him that not only her, but the monk that finished the oni also tended for his wounds. Removing the bandages they could see the art of the monk, two tattoo now adorned his back and shoulders, his dreams were know imprinted with in his skin, just as lively as he had seem. But that was not the only thing the nameless monk left behind, now by his side the daisho of his father, the family legacy, rested waiting for his new master to recovery. Now in peace with himself, tobushi focused his efforts in his training and in helping the dragon. Faced with the plague spreading he was appointed as gunso of an yamabushi assault team and send to crab lands to helps cure such evil disease. After traveling most of rokugan with the shugenjas they were finally able to help concoct a cure for the plague. He and many more samurais were reaching the deep of the disease went a mass call came, all loyal samurai should present himself at Toshi Rambo. They were forced to leave the shadowlands behind and marched north, back to Toshi Rambo, back to the dragon lands, back to war.

Name: Tsi Eri Age: 18 Height: 5'3" Build: solid, curvy Hair: blonde Eyes: dark hazel Appearance: Fond of flair and bright colors. Doesn't really separate herself from her acting and often wears rich silk with embroidery in it. She is graceful and athletic, but isn't a bushi for certain, most of her muscle in her legs from dancing and acrobatics. Pale peach skin. Her hair is usually up in a formal Rokugani bun, held in place by three pins, made of wood from deep in the Isawa Mori. Carries a katana with her despite her immature appearance and seems fairly comfortable with it. School: Tsi Smith / Kakita Artisan History/Personality: Eri is an independent, energetic, carefree woman. Born to Tsi Karone, former Tsi clan champion, she opted not to follow in her fathers footsteps, instead joining her mother and brother in Kakita lands. She picked up lessons from both her parents; swordsmanship, smithing, painting, poetry, dancing, dueling, and many other skills. More than anything she enjoyed acting though, being able to tell stories through movement and disguise, fitting her playful nature. Fortunately for her she was accepted by an actor's troope after her father's death, so had no trouble pursuing her passion. Her mother did not try to stop Eri, knowing the life of an actor would be tough since she would have little to no respect and support, her price for independence; But one her mother knew she was willing to pay. Since then Eri's troope proved quite successful, especially by Rokugani standards, and she is already well known among followers of peasant theater at her young age. She has worked on her smithing on the side and has made a good sum of money between her acting and selling weapons and armor. Thus even though she doesn't receive a stipend from either of the Clans she calls hers, she is very well off and able to afford all the costumes, food, and supplies she needs, and more. When she reached 18 she went back and actually passed two gempukku, wanting to prove herself both to the Tsi and to her mother's family. She kept the Tsi name and the Kakita blade she earned and while some from both families feel she is wasting her talent with peasants, people influential in both have let her be, knowing she has a lot of time left to expand her considerable talent. At the moment she is still travelling around Rokugan as an actress, occasionally visiting her mother and little brother in Crane lands. Her personality is a lesson in extremes, as she can both be as demure and polite as any courtier and the next moment as excitable as a child. Despite her somewhat nonchalant personality and independent lifestyle, she is very honorable and follows Bushido as strictly as she can within her role in the Celestial Order. This is a fact often lost on those who think of her as unreliable. Advantages: Dangerous Beauty, Daredevil, Sensation, Touch of Tengoku, Hero of the People Disadvantages: Gullible, Overconfident, Social Disadvantage Family: Tsi Karone (father, dead), Kakita Rin (mother, sensei), Kakita Harima (younger brother, lives with mother) ![](http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2004-6/757989/Commission_Blonde_by_bokuman.jpg)

Massive update to mine. I'm not going to rewrite the whole thing, but for the original, visit here Name: Tamihei Shoju (Currently) Formerly: Chuda Shoju, Chuda Oronkohiro, Bayushi Tazin Age: 33 at time of "first" death: Hair: Short, and dark, worn in a close cropped Scout style. Tattoo: His current body bears no tattoos, but his face, particularly around his eyes bear scarring, from the life it lived before it was the vessel of Tamihei Shoju. Background
Tamihei Shoju's story begins a long time ago in Scorpion Lands, as the son of a Bayushi Magistrate, and Yogo Shugenja. He studied as a Bayushi Samurai, preparing to one day follow in his father's footsteps as a magistrate. He had an affinity to the arts of the Shugenja as well, but his parents felt it best to distance him from the Yogo Family as much as possible. His mother's Yogo Curse had been fullfilled with the conception of Her son. The father of her son was a Shugenja who lived in Ryoko Owari. It was a scandal that she had tried to keep from her husband, and one that Shoju only now is realizing the depth of, as the Shugenja that was his father was a Maho Tsukai. Not many men have a chance to live three lives. His first life, as a magistrate, and his fall from grace are well documented here. His Second Life, was one of anger, fury, and hatred. He was the tool of Daigotsu's plans. He waged war with the Yobanjin, he worked hard to develop a better breed of undead to populate the standing forces of the Spider, and he was dogged by attacks from his former clan. During this Life, Shoju lost his Yojimbo, Minturo, a viscious monstrosity stiched together from a Shiba Yojimbo in the Fields of the Dead, and his best friend, Kijiro, A Scorpion Shinobi whom he had barted for with the black scroll, the Wasting Disease. He also opened a second Black Scroll, the Iron citadel, in his growing home at Shiro Saisei. Shoju's Second death came at the hands of the Then Scorpion Clan Champion, Bayushi Senshi. Shoju had traveled to Beiden Pass to find the lost sister of the Mistress of Secrets, and after sucessfully fullfilling her dying wish, had moved towards Kyuden Bayushi looking to speak with the Champion and his wife. In a brutal and bloody battle, Senshi took the place of his wife in a duel with Shoju. After toying with Senshi, Shoju failed and was impaled upon the sword of Senshi. Due to the circumstances surrounding his Khadi Ritual, Shoju was not able to pass on to the realms of the Dead, instead his spirit returned to the only mortal thing left of him in the world, his heart. Shoju's third life began when his followers performed a maho ritual binding his soul to the body of a crab Scout in Saisei. In this third life, Shoju has set aside his burning desires of hatred, and has tried to prove to the empire that he wishes nothing more than to be its instrument of death against its enemies. Shoju was chosen by Daigotsu to lead a Legion of the Lost to Toshi Ranbo shortly after Kaneka made his claim for the throne. Shoju was to side with the Hantei if they were willing to grant the Spider Clan status after the war. When the Spider were rebuffed, and Shoju's old friend Tinishi was executed for the 'demand', Shoju led the full scale retreat from Toshi Ranbo. Seeing the death of many Spider in the retreat, Shoju was broken. His spirit crushed, and he requested Daigotsu to let him leave the Spider, and search out a means of securing his ancestral birthright of the Snake Clan. Daigotsu sensed that Shoju had been crushed by the events at Toshi Ranbo, and that he was of no more use to his plans, and granted him the release, and the right to take any living in the City of the Lost who would freely follow him, for they too would lack the resolve for the work ahead of the Spider. Shoju took on the family name Tamihei at this point as a homage to his ancestor who had risked all to save his clan, and to differentiate himself from the Spider. Shoju now seeks out a place for he and his followers in the Empire. Other InformationShoju is most often seen in the company of his Yojimbo, Tenshi. She is the first woman he has allowed himself to develop love for since the Shosuro Shinobi who had captured his heart what seems like 2 lifetimes ago. He cares deeply for her, and in a gaijin ritual, gave a piece of his soul to her to restore her to life. The ritual was taxing on Shoju, and has had several side effects upon him. Shoju has scaled back his use of Maho after learning more about the ancient art, and now looks to find a way to bring it back to its pure form, before the fall of Fu Leng. He is one of the most powerful shugenja in the Empire, preferring to use the Fire Kami in offensive magic, and the Earth Kami in Defensive Magic. He is proficient with the non Void Elements, and has rudimentary knowledge of how to use Maho to mimic the effects of Void magic. In Combat, Shoju can be seen casting spells, and using a hefty No-Dachi, a tainted nemuranai of his own creation. PersonalityShoju is deeply changed by the events that have shaped his life. Where he used to have a macabre sense of humor, he now shows more restraint. He is a Patient man, though some say he has become overly protective of those who follow him.

"The Light of Humanity shall never fade away" Name: Togashi Hitsuzu Age: mid-thirties? Less when I smile, more when I'm sad! Height: average Build: rough stock Hair: none (but, hey, they keep coming back!) Eyes: brown (Unless the water tricked me)
Appearance: An unassuming tatooed man, of middle height, sometimes with a big moustache, but sometimes not. Piercing eyes, blazing laugh, thin but muscular (yes, I like to run over Rokugan now and then...). Quite covered in inlaid tatooes, easy to see because they are rarely covered (usual clothing : fundoshi, hakama)...
Family: Everyone in Rokugan is part of my family. But, wait, do you have to love everyone in your family?
School: Togashi monk
Status: Wandering monk. Regularly help investigations as a Yoriki, and serves in battles as only a monk versed in the ebb and flow of water can.
History: As an ex-Crab (or was it Mantis?) samouraï, I keep a heated grudge against the shadowland minions and maho users. Many times, rumor of a bloodspeaker's covent has attracted my attention and the hunt focused most of my energy. Since the late trouble with the "who's who" emperor thingy, I find myself involved in different layers of intrigue, since I need to defend the people of Rokugan against the ravage of war. I do my best to support Kaneka-heika's interests, because I'm sincerely convinced that he would bring much-needed stability to Rokugan, acting strongly against inner and outer ennemies. Seems like my youth is long gone! No more time for random travels (well, there's always the occasional adventure, neh?), no more friendly talks with everyone in some of my most beloved clans (Phoenix, Dragon, Dragonfly and oddly enough, Scorpion, I must say)... Maybe when all this trouble will be over, I will toss a coin, and decide to retire to a monastery or take a more important role in my family's buisiness. Two face of the same coin, really!
Advantages: Clear thinker ; Inari's blessing ; Hero of the people (count on me against bloodspeakers, shadowland minions, deseases or greedy lords) ; Blood of Osano-Wo.
Disavantadges: Ascetic (everything I own is owned by everyone) ; Obligation (minor : Tonbo Tenshu : he showed me the way in my troubled times) ; Light madness (the blood of two gods/dragons, Togashi and Osano-wo, flows in my veins, cohabitation is a bit tense).
Tatooes: Centipede, Bamboo, Dragon, Ocean, Lion, Storm.
Kiho : Many

Name Yoritomo Raiden
School Yoritomo Shugenja 5 / Yoritomo Courtier 1
Affinity/Deficiencies Water (Affinity) / Earth (Deficiency)
History/Personality Raiden is a very cheerful person. Always seen as extremely optimistic. He cares for benefiting the Mantis as a whole and is proud to call himself a Yoritomo. Always polite even if he is being course with someone. He values the accomplishments of a man or woman. A idealist when it comes to what a person can accomplish if they put their mind to it.
Raiden can trace his linage back to the union between Kaimetsu-Uo's daughter and her ronin husband. At an early age Raiden showed great aptitude for weather magic. Raiden also could hear voices coming from the sea at an early age. He always considered the sea his secret friend. As he grew he learned it wasn't the sea itself but the life in the sea he could hear, he discovered this during his first trip away from the City of Lightning. A orochi swam next to the ship, and Raiden could feel the serpents feelings and thoughts. He knew these were the voices he had heard as a child.
Due to his natural talent with weather magic Raiden rose in the ranks of the Yoritomo Shugenja School. After his Gempukku Raiden left to head to the Ivory Kingdoms. During the Spirit War Raiden was in the Ivory Kingdom combating the cult of the destroyer as reinforcements to the already engaged forces there. After the hostilities were concluded Raiden served as part of the emissary group that has been diplomatic with the Ivory Kingdoms people. Due to his actions during this time and his bloodline Raiden became the Yoritomo Daimyo quickly. After hearing of the War in Rokugan Raiden has returned home.

Post by Iuchi Ozora on Nov 7, 2011 20:03:53 GMT -5
Name: Iuchi Ozora
School: Iuchi Shugenja
Role: Assistant Librarian at Shinden Iuchi
Character description/personality: A quiet but straightforward shugenja. Very direct and knowledgeable and not afraid to speak his mind when the fancy strikes him. When he was younger he tended to get himself in trouble with that mouth, but seasoning and a musha shugyo have tempered him somewhat. He has no love for killing but is no longer a stranger to death as he once was. Handy with a bow, he prefers to keep his opponents at an arms length. Not one to love court, he does what he needs to for the good of the Unicorn.
Age: early 20s.
Appearance: Tall and lanky, his hair is kept long and free as befits his Shinjo heritage. While not beautiful or ugly, he is handsome enough to get a look or two for those who wish to look twice. He is not the most imposing of individuals but makes up for it with a friendly demeanor and perpetual smile. He often wears leathers while in the lands of the Unicorn, but he learned long ago to wear more traditional Rokugani wear when out in the rest of the Empire.
History: Born to the Shinjo, he was fostered to the Iuchi after his ability with the kami became apparent. Spending his childhood in the libraries made their mark on the young Ozora and he was quite withdrawn and stunted in social ability. After his gempukku and a year used for him to learn kyujutsu from his birth family, he was 'granted' release to go on a pilgrimage into the Empire to learn what death is and its purpose. The first couple and last couple years he spent with the Lion, particularly the Kitsu, assisting and learning not only the purpose of death but bearing witness to still and coldness of death first hand. The middle years he went to the lands of the Scorpion and learned how a death can affect so much as well as some etiquette. Now back with the Unicorn Clan once again, he has taken his place as assistant librarian at Shinden Iuchi. While for some, this may be seen as a death sentence to boredom, for Ozora it is quite the opposite. He is commonly sent out into the Empire to find rare and hard to get copies of scrolls for copy and retrieval. He has already traveled the breadth of the Empire, from the Crab lands to the south to the Pheonix lands to the east.
Spouse (if any): None.

Post by Hida Kyoso on Nov 23, 2011 15:06:02 GMT -5
Name: Hida Kyoso Apparent Age: Early Twenties Hair: Black (White Ends) Eyes: Brown (almost gold in the light) Build: About 5'10", slightly willowy, highly toned
Appearance: Hida Kyoso is short... for a Hida, putting him only a couple inches about your average samurai. He wears his hair long, and pulled back, with the tips being white. (Those who've heard stories of Kyoso speculate that he got drunk and spent the night with a Bog Hag, and got the white tips when he woke up the next morning and realised what happened.) Kyoso's build is more slender and willowy than your average Hida, but that merely belies the strength he possesses. He'd likely be rather attractive, if he bothered to take more care to his appearance. He is typically found wearing his Heavy Armor and weilding a Dai-Tsuchi, or wearing a slightly rumpled and faded kimono in Crab colors.
Personality: Hida Kyoso is a man who works hard, and plays hard. He takes his duties very seriously (despite his apparent attitude), but has been around the Shadowlands long enough to realise you've got to be able to relax and enjoy yourself sometimes, or the stress of defending the empire from horrors will break you. Tends to let his tongue get away from on occasion, which has gotten him in trouble on multiple occasions (he once got stuck digging latrines for a week after accidentally mouthing off to the Kuni Daimyo). Enjoys drinking (though not enough to interfere with performing his duties) and women.

Post by Usagi Izutsu on Nov 30, 2011 12:47:01 GMT -5
Name: Usagi Izutsu Age:25 Samurai/Jade Magistrate
Appearance: Standing at 5'11, Izutsu is taller than your average Rokugani. His long dark hair is usually pulled up behind his head, when not covered by a helmet, and his clean-shaven face shows a sorrow far beyond his young years. He is a warrior by nature, though his training as a magistrate makes him more comfortable than many bushi are amongst the courtiers of the Clans; however, he always appears more at ease in his red armor with his badge of office upon it.
Background: Born the third son of the Clan Champion, Usagi Izutsu always knew his calling. Raised with the traditional Hare hatred of maho and its practitioners, he was more zealous than even his fervent siblings. Upon the completion of his Gempukku, he was accepted to be trained as a Jade Magistrate, as well as continuing his training as a samurai at the Dojo of the Emerald Champion. He excelled in all these things, soon outclassing his older brother and sister, who were being trained in the arts of war with the Lion, in kenjutsu. He then began to lead a very successful career as a magistrate, being an instrumental part in eradicating bloodspeaker cults throughout Toshi Ranbo and the lands surrounding it. His happy career took a nasty turn, however, when his sister, the heir to the Hare Clan, was found murdered in the woods, apparently with maho, even while their father lay dying in his bed. Izutsu took up the investigation with the help of a young Dragon trained in the Kitsuki Justicar technique, and tracked down the cult to his own home, Shiro Usagi. Izutsu and his men raided the cult's hideout; the worst shock of all was finding his brother leading the cult. He killed all of them, including the powerful maho tsukai his brother had become, sustaining extensive injuries in the process, and for a time it seemed the Hare clan would have no daimyo or champion. With the aid of some powerful healers, however, Usagi Izutsu is once again walking the halls of his old home, facing a responsibility he never wanted, but inevitably will have no choice but to accept.
