While I'm as impatient as anyone, I think this is supposed to be a climactic BIG SCENE - I mean, it's been some months leading up to this (collecting forces, politicking, assembling materiel and so on).\ So I don't think the idea is "okay, everyone go ahead and click to emerald on all these jobs in the next few days" - rather, there will certainly be a degree of having to go back and raise reinforcements and so on, and likely even having to click on raise army/material/get heroic opp jobs even after they're emerald already. The point being, this of this as something more akin to Winter Court (remember having to go farm rumors from Otomo lands, and bamboo, rice and iron from hither and yon, and taking weeks to really master everything, including hidden jobs which would pop up here and there?) - an ongoing drama of war. That said, I certainly hope the mastery drop for "Enemy General" will be praiseworthy

Well, these are the climactic actions for a storyline that has been ongoing for some time, so I was concerned players would be disappointed if they "finished" all the actions on the very first day. I've previously underestimated how much players are capable of, and the impression I have from both player reports and data mining is that people have built up immense reserves of units for this day. So I tried to make the actions last awhile. However, I definitely don't want them to feel tedious. Consequently, based on this initial feedback I have: * Increased the drop rate of heroic opportunities by 50% (or more, in some cases) for all actions that drop them. * Added the possibility of heroic opportunities dropping from some actions that didn't before. * Added the possibility of brilliant victories dropping from the Duel, Stand and Fires actions (the previously existing actions that cost heroic opportunities). Regarding mastery, the mastery item drop only occurs at the 1st tier, so I can't have something drop from the 2nd or 3rd tier mastery. (A lot of actions rely on this to give you only one copy of Xxxx Technique.) Sorry about that. I did put heroic opportunities as the mastery reward for many actions to ensure people would get some guaranteed minimum number of heroic opportunites (which are meant to represent moments where your character gets to do something cool in the battle). Anyway, hope that helps! Thanks for the feedback, and I'll continue to monitor how things are going.

You're the best But it's strange about 2nd/3rd tier. I could swear i got heavy infantry from mastering 2nd and 3rd tiers of regular infantry trainings so i assumed that those non-unique mastery drops (not techniques like you said). So it's ok, I was just under wrong assumption

Personally, I'm really liking how it's going so far. It's a big climactic battle that we've been working up to for months. Hell, for longer than I've even been playing. Consequently, I'm perfectly okay with it taking a while to conquer. I may not have the massive reserves of forces that other people do (I've already had to fall back and gather reinforcements a few times), but my goals also seem to be more modest. I'm not out here to emerald master everythingk I'll be happy with just sending the Yobanjin general to Jigoku. As goals for this battle go, a gold mastery on that job seems tough, but achievable, likely just the way that Jay-sama wanted it. That said, I will happily welcome that higher drop rate for heroic opportunities. Thank you, Jay-sama, for all the work you've put into this game. I've been enjoying it a great deal in my short time here.

I'll be happy with just sending the Yobanjin general to Jigoku. ;D You speak like true Lion, Kenzo-san, but trust me - there is no "just sending the Yobanjin general to Jigoku". There will be blood and sweat. And gold mastery may not be enough to get to sufficient number of opportunities But then again, what pride would there be if it was be an easy task.

The blood and sweat were a given, Shinji-san. I intend to see more of it come from the Emperor's enemies than from myself, though. >

...It's more the random drop heavy cavalry that bothers me. The only way to complete that quest is to either get lucky with random encounters or get lucky with doing the quest dropping a heavy cavalry. I haven't even had a random encounter in two days now. I highly dislike jobs that you can't perform unless random chance favors you. You can't even grind through this with difficulty like the brilliant victories. I'd like to see another job that drops heavy cavalry so it's at least possible.

HO MY GOD ITS HOT IN HERE... seems the MWK as put the forum to flammes! :-)
I'm ok with the new drop rate but in fact, i was VERY WELL OK BEFORE. Has takezo said, its been a while preparing for this (more than 250 to 350 troops of every kind!) so to go to war you need to be prepare!
Remember friends that not every action HAS TO BE DONE. I have friend that play courtier like and they don't bother about MWK. If it takes 3 weeks to do i'll do it, I play a lot like Tadaka and Kenji and i enjoy even more roleplay.
The backlash of this is that i almost have the cavalry charge to emerald and now the drop of Opportunities goes up (too late but anyway).
I hope to see more actions like this that are by defninition VERY HARD to complete, this is a war between contries afer all!
Thanks Jay . Thanks everyone to help EE being even better!

ENTIRE MESSAGE OOC Here, here. Yes, it's tough. It's war. Yes, working against an imperial official (the Shogun) is bound to have consequences. There's the vote that will lead to immediate gratification, and the vote that will have long-term potential. I sided with the Shogun here, but that will certainly lock me out of something later. As far as the tedium issue goes, well... The fact that there is likely a clock ticking down somewhere, while I frantically chase the needed troops and skill to win, that adds to the excitement for me. Ultimately, that random number generator is gonna smite you. It happens. I'm on my 5th or so character; sometimes you get the Tsuruchi longbow on your way to initial mastery, sometimes you don't see it until you are 56% to emerald. It chafes, but it's life. To the developers: I'm totally digging it. Hey, if you're that frustrated with it, you can always help set up an Omiai for my character ... Seriously, I'm a Spider, I'm gonna need help on this one.

Thanks Jay for continuously listening to the players, and making improvements to the game. The increased drop rate sure helps. A little sad though that I've already reached Emerald on the "Lead Archers in Battle" job before this update, since archers was the follower that I had the most. Guess a grind is unavoidable in this case. Btw, does the "Fight a Yobanjin General" job remain hidden until you have 3 brilliant victories?

Yep, hidden until you have 3.

Still... paying 3 brilliant victories is too much I think. Would be fine if it was 33/66/100%. But 10x10? That's way too much, it means I need to get 30 of those to finish it... that's the last one for me (stupid Kaneka) *whines* Nah, don't bother with me, I am just complaining

I've previously underestimated how much players are capable of, and the impression I have from both player reports and data mining is that people have built up immense reserves of units for this day. Jay-sama, If this is a concern, then I believe the best way to handle that is by increasing the fate cost of each item. Like the reihado shinsei actions, having such "climatic" events costing 40-60 fate points per click would add a physical time constraint on actions. In my mind, this is a preferrable solution to requiring hard to come by cost items (medium infantry) to gain hard to find drops (heroic opportunity) in order to do a mission to find another rare drop (brilliant victory) that you need 10 of to master.* *This of course is academic, since Jay-sama was awesome enough to go ahead and modify the drop rate and locations of these various items.
