What aspect of this Wonderful Universe do you partake in.
I used to play the RPG. I am excited for 4th ed.
I took a 5 year break from the CCG and I am just now getting back into it.
I am also Getting back into the Clan War tabletop. Mostly for painting but I have a couple people who are interested in playing.
I just heard of a Mod for Shogun: Total war that is L5R. I am investigating this some more.

I love the RPG. Hida Setsuro is actually one of my characters, a Hida Berserker 2/Dead-Eyes Berserker 1/Hida Bushi 1 at the current time. Makes for a VERY interesting character. He's..a giant wall that you don't want to go up against.
You post information about the mod of Shogun for us, yeah Tekkusu? That'll be great. I'll stay tuned.

Ive played the card game off and on for years. I play in the Rpg whenever the chance presents itself. I'm a minor junkie for all things samurai but by no means a fanboy. Since it is the most accessible for me i would have to say the card game is my drug of choice, sadly the current storyline is abysmal.

I disagree I think the Crab story is really good. I like the fact that unicorn once again have come to our aid and that Scorpion are finally showing some backbone. I guess if you are fighting a dirty war it is good to have the dirtiest players in the game on your side.

You like the Destroyers arc? you are the first i have met who has (story wise). i think between Tony the Tiger demons, our paint huffing empress, no characters that have interested me in the slightest, the spider getting great clan status, the spider getting to raise the heir, Satsu losing his dragon powers, clans infighting when the world is melting around them, a known spider as imperial advisor (who learned his mean brand of court skills in the back rooms of unicorn sake houses...), an imperial chancellor whos only story is how he abuses his wife for fun, a shogun who didnt lead the leigons against the destroyers that sacked most if not all Crab holdings, a war in the north consisting of fighting off flaming homeless guys, half the mantis just leaving for a overseas mission (their only story) and the rediculous death of two awesome clan champions.
However... if you play the ccg, crab decks got mad support and are freight trains.
just my 2 koku

I usually love anything Gaijin related in L5R, but the Destroyer's Arc is way too out there for me. I mean I like how they want to do more with the Gaijin cultures, but when my L5R group read the newest stuff, we first laughed thinking it was a joke. When we realized it wasn't, we all right there agreed to ignore it. I just hope what comes next is better.

That game was like pure crack to me in my sophmore year of college. Same for my friends and I, only we did Medieval 2. Was extra sweet because we found out one of our professors played too, so we could talk to him about it, which paid off as we learned a lot that we could use on the exam from the game.

@ Hida Chieko
Sorry lemme clarify. The destroyer Idea I hate as I do most of the arc. Everyone is right, it is not making a lot of sense. I do like the fact that the Crab are actually in ruins and fighting for survival at this point. I wish it were a different threat but I like the scenario. I like that you are actually getting to see the viciousness of the Unicorn and Scorpion. I do lament the fact that there is no "Bad ass" Story for a Crab character. I hope all of that will change with our new Clan Champion.... Hida Reiha <pipe dream> ....I really hope they don't gloss over her like they did Kuroda.

The buzz i have heard is that they will finish out the edition (celestial) and then the next edition (emperor) will take place 20 years in the future and all the champions will be replaced. I.e. Kempeki will run the spider, Kisada will run the crab, domotai and kei are both currently preggers and so their kids will be the champs. Just the buzz i heard. I too love Reiha and would like to see her get her due, but i fear she may get glossed over or at best get a "diamyo" style treatment if at all.

Ugh I hope they don't do a time jump ahead. I feel like this is a crappy note to end this time period on. Its like they went out, pick up a bunch of take out menus, and then picked some dish names off of them and thus created Kali-Ma and the Yobanjin who-are-on-fire-but-actually-aren't. All because they ran out of ideas.

They are doing a time jump 20 years ahead for Emperor Edition, know that for a 100% fact. Really, I know I was one of the people pushing for it; Reason being looking back at the past century. In the past 50 or so years in the current CCG timeline there's been...
the Scorpion Clan coup, the Second Day of Thunder, the Spirit Wars, the Second Yasuki War, the Third Yasuki War, the Dragon-Phoenix War, the Crane civil war, the Mantis civil war, the War of Dark Fire, the War of Fire and Thunder, the Three Seiges of Kyuden Hiruma, the Rain of Blood, the Plauge and the Plague War, the death of all the Horiuchi, the release of the Waisting Disease, the Destroyer War, the Night of Assassins, the cleansing of the Kolat, the Winter of Red Snow, the Second Gozoku Conspiracy, the War of the Rich Frog, the Dark Moto War, The Clan War... and not to mention any number of other battles and incidents.
Frankly, I know I wasn't the only one who was starting to find it a tad unbelievable that with all these large scale wars and disasters (specially the Rain of Blood, the Plague, the Wasiting Disease, the Destroyer War which destroyed almost all of the Crab lands, and the Clan War) that there was any reason why Rokugan shouldn't be severly depopulated at this point, stripped of large portions of it's farmland, and etc. In other words, I think they NEED a time jump to justify not having everything either burned down, ruined, or depopulated. But maybe that's just me.
As far as ending on a bad note, I'd rather think of it as wiping the slate clean of that jumbled mess I listed above and hopefully the start of something more reasonable. At least a man can wish...
