He heard the name Asahina Yukihime and immediately it caught his attention. After the Asahina had presented her gift and completed the pleasentries necessary between herself and tomatsu, Daisuke moved foward and bowed. "Asahina-sama? I apologize my name is Akodo Daisuke and I am the son of Akodo Jin. I heard that you and my older sister Kitsu Akane had recently spent some time together. She spoke highly of you and another crane by the name of Daidoji Yuuka. I had hoped that you would be present at this historic occasion. As such I brought a gift."He pulled from his kimono a small box, unlocking it he then presented it to the Asahina. He then spoke so that only she could hear him. "Inside you will find a flag carefully folded. You see this is the flag I found during the fall of Toshi Ranbo. There were many honorable crane defenders at the palace and it was my job to see them dispatched. A service i must assure you i did not enjoy. After their honorable deaths, my sister told me much about your willingness to not only protect the other crane at that prison camp but also your dedication to their memory. I give you this flag with my account of the story, so that all crane may know the honor and dedication these samurai gave in service to their empire. While we may disagree over who is the correct emperor we do what we do out of love for the empire. After speaking with an Ikoma historian he suggested that I write my account of their brave fall so that others may never forget their sacrifice. I present to you my account of their story, so that the crane may never forget their sacrifice and the empire may be forever proud of their dedication to duty. I trust you Asahina-sama with this precious gift."He then bowed slowly and sincerely so that Yukihime may have a moment to consider the gift. (OOC: I hope this gift is appropriate as I sometimes dont understand entirely rokugani gifting conventions. Daisuke meant the gift as part of an honorable shared crane history and that asahine yukihime was an honorable individual who share the story in such a way as to glorify and bring prestige to the families of the fallen crane. And dear god 3 posts made while i was finishing mine )

Tomatsu nodded to Fitsu and again leaned in close to address the man privately. Please Fitsu-san, take it. I only hope that it does you more good than it did me. You might find my annotations to be note worthy. At the very least you'll find some of my drawings funny, I use to be a rather decent at drawing funny scenes in the margins of my books. As to unfair insights into my strategy, you'll quickly find that most of my insights were gained on the field of battle. He took another sip of his tea and turned to face the Geisha again and smiled a thank you to her for filling his cup. (Sorry for a short one, but I don't want to risk too much happening before I finish this one

Fitsu nodded and responded in equally hushed tones,Surely I am not worthy to be the lone recipient of your interpretations of this treatise, the students of your great war colleges would reap wondrous benefit from them I have no doubt.

One day I will pen my chapter of Leadership. If that is not enough for them, then no amount of random scribblings from a half paying attention student will. Please, you honor me by taking the book, and some day you will put it to far better use than I ever could. Not to mention I have access to a myriad of copies and I have already committed the most important parts to memory. It will have a good home in your hands, as I know my old copy of Leadership is in Toku Hirotomo's hands.

Then I will take it gladly, and study it with great enthusiasm. It is a hot I shall hold dear, and one that shows how well you know me. Fitsu took the book with great reverence, careful to keep his right hand underneath it so as not to openly display the injury he had incurred many years before.
He turned to his wife and nodded. Daidoji Suzuka took the book from Fitsu with the same regard he had showed for it, knowing that his complimentary words were entirely sincere. She then produced a scroll case and presented it to her husband with grace beyond what one might expect from a formerly Crab bushi.
The scroll case itself was of sturdy construction, although it had clearly seen many years of service it had been well taken care of. Fitsu in turn presented it to Tomatsu.
Widely regarded as the finest tactician the Crane have ever produced is Doji Kuwanan, although knowledgeable scholars would be quick to point out he received his tutelage in the Hida and Akodo war colleges in addition to the traing he had at home. Having sacrificed himself to guard the gates of Volturnum, he never penned his full assessment of strategy, but he did make record of the time he spent in Toturi's Army. This is that accounting. It came into my family's possession to help seal the rift formed during the civil war within the Crane just after Toturi the First's ascension. May it make way to seal the rifts we currently stretch across as well.

With the ongoing gift giving, Naetaru decided to proceed with his own. It was a single gift meant for the Clan Champion in honor of friendship and respect.
"Akodo Tomatsu-sama, the family of the Doji wish also to present its gift in honor to this very gathering."
He turned to look over his advisor who in turn exchanged a quick look with a pair of servants at the door. They quickly entered the room with a box, in it there was a perfectly folded silken kimono. It was of exquisite quality, its color was mainly golden along with black sleeves and orange knit embroidery. It was a man's kimono. At its back Matsu Tsuko was depicted among the Seppun Hill, finely commemorating to her legendary honor. Down at the kimono's end golden lions were dancing playfully with every move of the wearer.
"Allow me to present you with a kimono crafted by our family's artisans meticulously with care for the Lion champion. In honor to the Lion ancestors that grant you and your Clan wisdom." bowing low in respect.

Mitsouko kept silent after her first words and gift offerings, and turned to carefully pour the second round of the tea to the presents. Crane clanners treasured the moments around a table and serving tea and sake personally, was the way they used to show friendship and respect. A well known tradition. She was listening carefully the words of the leaders but showed respect in not interrupting the conversation while she gracefully poured tea in everyone’s cup (except for Tomatsu’s, that brought his own geisha to serve him).

The large Lion gave Mitsouko a warm and genial smile as she refilled his tea while gifts were being presented between both parties. Knowing that he should only offer something if prompted, as his Champion had prepared for this, he instead engaged in softly-spoken polite small talk with his server. "My Lady, how do you find the weather? Those recent storms have not troubled the Crane's fertile lands I hope?"

Matsu Kaito sits still in silence and waits the begining of the negotiation. He has never liked the gift giving habit. Actually he feels relieved he's out of that this time. The direct manner of the Daidoji was better to his liking, though a little bit harsh.
Kaito uses the time to observe the behavior and face of the others - not only the Cranes, but also the Lions. As a senior follower of Tomatsu sama, he feels the acts of his clanemates are a matter of him too.
The tea feels refreshing to him, and he can hide behind the cup. He must use these moment not only to watch the others, but to collect his ideas, and calm his mind.

Mitsouko raised her green-golden eyes to the towering man by her side:
Once, a Omoidasu of your family sang a verse that reflects a bit the effect of the weather and war, Lord Ikoma:
“Plows left for spears Inari's shrine forgotten: emptied bowls.”
Lady Sun do not interrupt her walk because our warrings, milord. The fall arrived and we will try to see what is left to harvest after the events of this year. But our clan is provident most of the time, so we will not feel the full weight of this poor crop. I hope your granaries are filled for the most part as well, milord. Like Shinsei said “…and an army cannot move on courage alone."
She gave a slight and gentle smile, just noticing that the Ikoma daimyo was trying to have a light conversation, or so it seemed. I hope you find this tea of your taste, milord. It’s really a pleasure meet you for the first time. I hope we can have other opportunities to talk in the future. No word about the gifts she presented to them until now, maybe they found it ridiculous. Maybe the desire she and the Lion Champion shared wasn’t enough to smooth this feeling between them, growing since Three Sides River. The night was slowing slipping to a tragedy.

(OOC: Bah! I crit-failed on seeing Mitsuoko's gift giving to me. *bows deeply in apology*)
Buretto nodded towards the box, not yet accepting it for the time being, instead focusing on the pleasantries and pleasant beauty of the woman before him. He sipped the tea at her prompting words and settled back some, his expression one of consideration and care. He then smiled slyly and offered, "The finest of leaves tangy, young and refreshing tongue pleasing harvest." He inclines his head and considers the box and portraiture within. He offers polite refusals on the grounds that he would feel remiss to take such a fine painting from the hands of her family and that it could best hang in the dojos as reminder of courage and leadership before accepting properly. He continues the conversation in the same soft, tender tone of voice,"I must admit a measure of embarrassment in not having a gift fit for a woman of your stature and grace, Lady Kakita. If I am allowed a moment of time, I could compose a poem or perhaps relate a story?"

Please Ikoma-san, Crane had been inspired by this art for two centuries and maybe now the it can inspire Ikoma in their homeland as well. We fought together once, we won together once, we trusted each other once. Please do accept, it will make my heart full of joy. She insisted a little more, greatly relieved her first thoughts were wrong. After his remark about a gift for her, she cannot help but gave him a big smile, showing dimples: You do not need to retribute, milord. But hearing a tale or poetry of an Ikoma, and even more from their leader, would be truly worthy of a bigger gift than this one! It's priceless, I believe!

He first inclined his head to Fitsu and spoke.
Fitsu-san, I cannot accept such a wondrous gift. Mine was just a simple personal thing between myself and a man clearly touched by Akodo himself, but this, this is just too much for a simple Lion like myself to accept.
Before Fitsu could respond Tomatsu politely held up a hand and turned to hear the presentation of the Doji Daimyo. While it was more taxing to try and balance a private conversation with all the attention the two have drawn, it was the best way Tomatsu knew to reach the peace he knew they both desired. He hoped Fitsu would understand.
He watched the presentation with an impassive face. After he had finished Tomatsu bowed slightly from his seated position and spoke to the man.
Doji-san, you have a wonderful taste in kimonos. I could not have chosen a better design myself. However I cannot accept such a wonderful gift. It is clearly a work of art and not something worthy of touching my rough bushi skin, I fear I might not be able to care for it properly.
