To address the topic, which is a question of opinion: No. I do not feel that you should be able to switch sides. Not even to join your clan. If we're looking at it from a clicking game perspective, it's an unfair edge in tokens and actions you can perform that others do not have. You made your choice, live with it.
I agree with your reasoning Zeure (especially the arguments about the Emperor and Bushido) but, concerning the quoted point, I see a slight problem. While I don't disagree with you, there's the matter that some people chose their sides without being aware of the war (not all of the players frequent the forums) or that a character has to choose between Naseru or Toturi. After all, none of that is really clearly explained in the clicking game. My first character did exactly that. I was a Dragon then and I saw a mission to support the Hantei, so I thought "support my Emperor? Of course, why not?"
Although I would end up making the same decision consciously afterwards, at the time I didn't know what I was doing (that was way before the conflict at TR started). And I know of people who passed through the same situations and ended up committing seppuku just to be able to change sides.
Thus said, while I agree that, for the reasons you've mentioned, changing sides shouldn't be possible, I also think that, from a gameplay perspective, it's kinda cruel that players have to start a new character if they simply wish to correct a mistake they've committed. But, you could argue that the same applies for the Taint and, again, I wouldn't be able to disagree. So, yeah, I simply wished to point out that mistakes can happen and that people can make their decisions without being aware of all the possibilities available.
