Fixed a bug that was preventing death actions from killing your character. You can now choose to have died with the Lion garrison defending Castle of the Swift Sword. Meanwhile, Unicorn battle maidens are rallying Toturi's cavalry forces at the Drowned Merchant River. ![](http://www.esteemedhouse.com/ee/images/Action/Inferno.jpg) Developer notes: * Death action inspired by a Lion player's comment on the 4/16 thread. Much respect to the defenders who sacrificed so much at this battle! * Rally troops action adds another way to get Kaneka's favor, in response to some questions about Kaneka's favor being too hard to get. This still only drops 1 Kaneka's favor, though. I'm afraid my vision of Kaneka is that he's a deeds-not-words sort of guy, so he will not easily be swayed by mountains of flattery, but instead, he remembers the people who have done a lot for him.

Jay-sama,
First, Nice update. The death action is always a cool addition IMO.
My only concern about the favors, is: are the other actions equally difficult to come by? Could this lead to an imbalance in voting purely out of farming ability?
And off topic: Would it be possible to sway you to swing by the Spider Private board for some chat time on some ideas we have? Even if that means you just read a few of our war related threads that have gone on since your last stop?

Sweet work Jay thank you. My only concern about the favors, is: are the other actions equally difficult to come by? Could this lead to an imbalance in voting purely out of farming ability? I do not think it will be a problem Shoju because you can only get one favor. this just makes sure that players not around from the beginning will at least have a vote.

I wont lie, I haven't looked at the actions too closely (I'm a hantei guy), and when I heard that the favors were hard to come by, I was worried that any action that would require them wouldn't be as "used" as those that didn't require them.

Nice jobs. Now it's fixed, I wonder how a death action could not provoke death. Sounds fun ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

For those of us that burned all of our Rallying Cries at CotSS, are we going to be able to do the new river action at all?

Not that I can see, and I've looked. I don't think there are any active battles that are still dropping them. I tended to spend them as I got them too. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Dragon standards and brilliant victories, though, I have in spades...Alas, I will simply have to content myself with accusing the crap out of the scorpion assassins.

I have a question... Why do death actions give XP? And how is the amount calculated?

How nice to throw in a sop like that. Throw away a character Ive spent 14 months of effort on after the fact. A real joke.
Also, every rallying cry was burned in the 4+ month effort to try and win this fight. no one has any left. A rather cruel joke if I may say so, and I will.
The game was forced into a zero-sum situation and a crucible. The Lion and Unicorn were broken in a situation where the Hammer and Anvil threat alone consituted a situation that was dire enough for the Dragon to have retreated but that of course didn't happen. A real joke.
Really, the remaining Lion should burn everything, and salt the Earth the remaining territory because it's obviously indefensible now against the Dragon "children" and head to the mountains or take anothe option I will elaborate upon later because our total army was wiped out in two decisive defensive battles in well protected fortresses where we had a tactical advantage. This is over. Finished.
The real option here is for the Unicorn to try and run for the Burning Sands- since they're obviously ineffective as well while the remnants of the Lion hold out to buy them time to evacuate their clan and leave the Empire for the second time.
I also have to say that some of the level of thought in some of this has, I believe, been a conscious effort by some to break the game, and they shuold be congratulated for doing so in the click wars. You've won decisively. In the actual setting, the Miya and Otomo would likely have prevented the zero-sum game to keep the Dragon from becoming this all-powerful. For that matter, the Dragon coming down from the mountains like this is ludicrous as well, but so be it. Enough clicks to counter the better role players caused that to end up creating a coup.
Seriously- can we just say at this point this setting's finished and over, the clickers have had their way in maipulating things to a decisive point, the bad guys have won and re-boot, having learned some lessons and improving game balance and mechanics so this won't happen again?
Pooh-Pooh all you want if you care to, but the setting's now broken. Barring some kind of massive imposed deux ex machina to get the game into balance, the Lion and Unicorn are combat ineffective and effectively permanently destroyed and in the Lion's case at best are a large minor clan, and the Dragon are unstoppable- unless everyone left turns against them.
Just call it a well played match, concede, learn from the mistakes, and come up with mark 2 of this game, please. While this may have been a lot of fun for those on the winning side, and I'm certain it is, it's turned out to end up being a real waste of my time and effort for over a year now since everyone's efforts on the other side have been proven to be a laughably futile joke. 8(

For those of us that burned all of our Rallying Cries at CotSS, are we going to be able to do the new river action at all? Hmm, I hadn't realized how scarce rallying cries were currently - I went ahead and changed this action to no longer cost Rallying Cry; instead it will drop one occasionally.

OOC: what prisoners? those that burned with castle while you were throwing elixirs? something new: dead people are not called prisoners. they are dead. you may have some soldiers that survived the battle, but dressing them in peasants clothes won't make them citizens. it wasn't easy to talk with your heralds if they were in your camp. first time I hear any of them tried talking with us.
there is one fact: you burned the city. it didn't happen after you won the city and took prisoners, but during this long months of siege. nobody said that you found people and put them on fire one by one. but your attacks caused that those people burned to death. you chose that action to be the most important for your side, so now cope with its consequences.

OoC: Tsanuri-san, we have burned down a key military fortress of the Lion (its Castle of the Swift Sword not City of the Swift Sword). I have no idea where you got the impression that there would be woman and children still living there after you had ample time to evacuate it before our armies arrived. Unless, you know, your bushi intended to keep women and children there to use them as shields. Also, in the description provided by Jay, it says nothing about us burning the whole countryside near CotSS. As for the prisoners, unless you want to assume that there were absolutely no survivors from this battle and that everyone loyal to Toturi always stayed inside the castle, I think its safe to assume that both sides captured people in open skirmishes (which existed, as suggested by the former actions available at CotSS) and that some of the defenders of CotSS survived. And having heralds meet before battles to set terms of engagement was common practice during feudal warfare. Why would you assume that it hasn't happened? Why would you assume that we are drinking the blood of your children and raping your women? I see no logic to your thinking. Still, I am willing to work with you to create something together if you are willing to work with me, instead of just throwing accusations based on assumptions. To refresh your memory, lemme post here the current description of CotSS (lemme also remind you that it was categorized as "castle" not "city" before our engagement: "Castle of the Swift Sword Battlefield The Castle of the Swift Sword was one of the cornerstones of the Lion Clan's northern and western defenses. The very walls of the castle have melted under the intense heat of the alchemical fires employed against them, and the castle inhabitants have perished in the fiery inferno. A ragged but victorious Dragon army is encamped around the ruins of the castle."
